Marina Tsvetaeva wrote the poem "In a huge city" back in 1916 after breaking off relations with her beloved Sofia Boyuk and returning to her husband and daughter. It was a period of depression, mental emptiness and insomnia in a huge city. Very modern, isn't it? The poetess explained her unusual connection very simply and succinctly. She said that love between women is wild, and loving only men is very boring. But she called her relationship with Sofia "the first disaster in her life."
The rhythm of the song resembles the steps of a lonely, insomniac woman in a deserted nighttime huge city.
Diana and Brandon brilliantly conveyed the state of mind of the poetess at that time.
Definitely, Diana is an extraordinary pop singer. She creates her own genre - it's super emotional singing and spiritual contact with each viewer through her voice. This genre requires extreme nervous tension from the vocalist. In this, Diana has no equal among female singers.

Yes, there are many metaphors in this message and everyone who listens to it will find their own meaning here.
For me, this song conveys the mood of a person who has looked into himself.
During the day, every person performs some kind of social function. During the day he is someone in relation to other people - a mother, daughter, wife, friend, seller, customer, employee or boss. Everyday affairs and social function, the entire outside world, take over the person's full attention. Therefore, there is no time to realize who you are without the outside world. But in the silence of the night the social function disappears and the person is left with himself.
You can’t sleep and you go out into the street, now you have no business, no desires, no goal of where to go.....
In this state, you understand that only what you see with your eyes exists - “color”, “light in the window”, “black poplar”. And there is also what you feel and hear - “quiet music from the window, “ringing on the tower,” “touch of the wind.” The whole world around you is real and alive because you see and feel it. But you cannot feel how the world (“night”) sees and feels you. You can feel what “night” is like, but “night” cannot tell you about you. Therefore, there is only “night” (you feel it), but there is no you. At night on the street you cannot see your reflection, you can only see your shadow.
And now you understand that only people can confirm to you that you are not a mirage. They can tell you how they see you (happy or sad, angry or kind) and how they make you feel (you make them happy or you hurt them). When there are no people around, I am a ghost, because I do not have my own reflection (there is no feedback from anyone). At night or during the day (if there are no people and mirrors), my reflection is this shadow, and only my shadow exists. This means that maybe I am your shadow (your reflection), and you are mine (my reflection)?

    July 17, 1916. Moscow
This song by Diana Ankudinova based on poetry by poetess Marina Tsvetaeva.
In my enormous city it is - night...
In my enormous city it is - night,
as from my sleeping house I go - out,
and people think perhaps Tm a daughter or wife
but in my mind is one thought only: night.
The July wind now sweeps a way for - me.
From somewhere, some window, music though - faint.
The wind can blow until the dawn - today,
in through the fine walls of the breast rib-cage.
Black poplars, windows, filled with - light.
Music from high buildings, in my hand a flower.
Look at my steps - following - nobody.
Look at my shadow, nothing’s here of me.
The lights - are like threads of golden beads
in my mouth is the taste of the night - leaf.
Liberate me from the bonds of-day,
my friends, understand: I’m nothing but your dream.
    Translated by Elaine Feinstein

Hi! Diana in this song brings all the pain and experiences of the great Russian poetess Marina Tsvetaeva, who experienced at a certain point in her life. And Diana managed to embody all the anguish of Marina Tsvetaeva's feelings in this song. And of course Diana's loyal friend Brandon Stone, who wrote this beautiful musical composition. With this song, Diana has now been able to fall in love with millions more fans around the world. Only a few people in the world can live the feelings of another person very accurately and subtly with their singing.

Russian poet Marina Tsvetaeva wrote this poem 100 years ago. The verse is strange - desperate, sad, guilty... tearing at the soul. She returned to her husband after a whirlwind affair with a girl. She is devastated and confused. By the way, at the same time the verse “I will win you back” appeared. Diana and Brandon are wizards. They made a real masterpiece !

In my huge city there is - a night.
I go from the sleeping home - aside.
    And people think I’m a daughter, a wife, -
But I remember only one thing: the night.
The July wind sweeps all my way - away,
Some quiet music in the window - play.
The wind will blow till the dawn - today
Through the thin chest walls into breast, - hey.
Here are a poplar black, and bells - on the tower,
And in the window the light, in hands - flowers,
And here is the step that after no one - leads,
And here is this shadow, but me - non-exist.
The lights are like - threads of the gold beads,
And in the mouth taste of the nocturnal-leaves.
Release me, please, from day ties,
Friends, can’t you see I am your - dream at nights.

👉 Listen, enjoy… This is pure magic! Diana's voice so soft, mystical, hypnotizing, seductive, melancholic... It transports me to another world. I want to hear this wonderful melody, these profound words and Diana's velvety voice on an endless loop. ❤❤❤
    Music - Brandon Stone
    Poems - Marina Tsvetaeva
    Arrangement - Brandon Stone
    * The Russian writer Marina Tswetaeva (* 1892 Moscow) is one of the great love poets of modern times. Their romantic principles were the dominance of emotion, the dark and the fateful. But with her poetic radicalism she despaired of the circumstances.
Despite all the adverse living conditions, everything she ever wanted to do was write. With every syllable she felt like she was leaping over space and time.
But her upper middle-class educational heritage did not protect her from rifts that could never be mended. Her thoughts turned back to the 19th century.
In 1912 she married Sergei Efron; They had two daughters and later a son. Efron joined the White Army, and Tsvetaeva was separated from him during the Civil War.
She emigrated with her husband to Berlin, Prague and Paris in 1922. Her husband worked for the Soviet secret police, and Tsvetaeva was shunned by the Russian exile community in Paris. Her lack of ties was as resented in Paris as in Moscow and she was shunned by the Russian exile community in Paris. It was no longer published after it declared that Mayakovsky was the poet of the future.
She sticks her head into the past in order to be able to bear the present more easily.
In 1939 Tsvetaeva returned to the Soviet Union. Her husband was executed and her surviving daughter was sent to a labor camp. When the German army invaded the USSR, Tsvetaeva and her son were evacuated to Yelabuga. She hanged herself on August 31, 1941. Her grave is still unknown today. She left behind a huge body of poetry, verse dramas and prose works. (www)
    * Brandon Stone (stage name), *1980 in Tbilisi, Georgia. He is a singer, multi-instrumentalist, composer, lyricist and arranger. Brandon is also a professional jazz pianist and a top-notch producer.
His musical life began at the age of 3 with piano lessons. In 1997 he began studying jazz pianism at the music academy 'Hans Eisler' in Berlin/ Germany (he lived there with his parents). After twenty years in Germany and a few years in the USA, he now lives in Russia with his wife and two children.
Brandon Stone prefers an interesting mix of styles both as a composer and as a singer (jazz/soul/pop). His melodic songs as well as high technique, emotional intensity and honesty of performance, his wonderful voice (3.5 octaves) and charm helped Brandon Stone to become popular in many European countries, America and Commonwealth of Independent States. He sings in Russian, English, German, Spanish, French, Hebrew and Georgian.
Stones song “Magic Cristmas” became the #1 Christmas hit in Spain in 2002 (age 22): th-cam.com/video/_tXBw-oPmqM/w-d-xo.html and even overtook the song Robbie Williams.
In 2005, Igor Krutoy personally asked Stone to compose and produce for the New Wave. He did it from 2005-2010.
Stone has already composed ca. 800 songs and sold around 2,000,000 records, mostly as a composer or lyricist, mainly in the former CIS countries. In Georgia (Europe) he is revered as a singer and artist, as a folk hero.
Stone has received many important national and international awards and prizes. In 2018-2020 he was nominated for the Victoria Prize (Similar to the Grammy. Dimash and Krutoy won the 2019 Victoria Prize).
Since 2019, Brandon Stone has worked extensively with Diana. Diana's first CD of songs composed and produced by Stone, released Dec 2021, was certified Gold in June 2022. (www)

Marina Tsvetaeva, the author of the poem, is a brilliant Russian poetess of the early 20th century. This poem was written in 1916. Geniuses are rarely happy people. Marina is a tragic person. This is a poem about loneliness. Alone, in a huge city, night, light in the window. She whispers to the man who has already left her, “But I don’t exist. Only my shadow.” Russian poetry cannot be translated word for word. It’s better to draw our poems. Diana sang as Marina herself would have sung. Of course this is my opinion
