Interpretation of Diana and Brandon’s song “In a Huge City”: The great Russian poetess Marina Tsvetaeva gave birth (not “wrote”!) poems with a quality of meaning inseparable from the sound of her words in Russian. It is IMPOSSIBLE to understand the meaning of these poems, or rather, these sounds without perceiving their Russian sound (try translating Kipling, or Byron, or Shakespeare into Russian, and then back into English! Try it!). This is exactly what Diana and Brandon are doing in this song - the correspondence of meaning and sounds. This cannot be explained in words: how to add up the sum of meanings and the sound of speech??!! This can only be heard by the soul. To hear, repeated many times, a combination of melody, words and sounds of instruments, the main one of which is Diana’s voice - the most complex of them all. Hence the advice - reproduce in yourself the images given by Marina (night, wind, black poplar, light from the window, ringing from the tower, “And this is the shadow, but not me”, “Friends, understand that you are dreaming of me”) ...and listen, listen, listen to the voice(s) of Diana singing this... I don't know about others, but in this song, Diana's voice is like a balm for my soul, she hypnotizes and fascinates with her voice, calms me down and I just, as it were, follow her through the night city.
The poem "In a huge city" from the cycle "Insomnia" was written by the Russian poet Marina Tsvetaeva 106 years ago. Marina left her husband and her daughter for her beloved woman. And after the end of the relationship with her, a few years later, she returned to her family. Her husband accepted Marina, but did not forgive her. Marina became depressed and suffered from insomnia. She left her house at night and she wandered around the city. A poem about a woman who walks aimlessly in a night city. She sees, hears and feels everything, but she is not there. This song is about loneliness in a huge city.

Если Вам интересно, о чем же все-таки - то кратко содержание стихотворения Марины Цветаевой, то кратко это содержание можно передать известным русским идиоматическим выражением "потеряла себя". А вот каким образом это гениально передала в стихах Марина , и как конгениально в песне - Диана, разговор отдельный. Если будете заинтересованы в моем понимании - поделюсь.

The July wind now sweeps a way for - me.
From somewhere, some window, music though - faint.
The wind can blow until the dawn - today,
in through the fine walls of the breast rib-cage.
Black poplars, windows, filled with - light.
Music from high buildings, in my hand a flower.
Look at my steps - following - nobody.
Look at my shadow, nothing’s here of me.
The lights - are like threads of golden beads
in my mouth is the taste of the night - leaf.
Liberate me from the bonds of-day,
my friends, understand: I’m nothing but your dream.
