I always remember this one elderly couple who picked a set of encyclopedias and despite being offered far more valuable prizes kept holding on to the books. Monty Hall said thanks and was about to move on to the next contestant when he suddenly stopped and said when you go home and are looking up things in the books and you come to "M" look up money and you will find $5000!!--the look on the couple's faces was priceless!!!! LOL
I always loved it when Monty pulled something like that on people.
there is something so natural about people back then. They were mature and held their emotions correctly. The women were also more prettier in those days.
It's either "prettier" or "more pretty." Not "more prettier..." English be hard 🥴
It's still strange to see a television as furniture. Radios were once furniture before that. I was very, very young when I last watched TV on such a thing.
Rest In Peace Monty Hall!
I'm surprised one of those rolling console TVS never knocked Carol Merill over. Those things are heavy!
If that's a real "Model T", I would think it would be worth more than the tires.
That Indian Motorcycle, what a prize! worth BIG BIG money today IF they can be found. The Triumph is similar to a neighbor's back in the day. Very interesting to see this.
Monty say you goof you get 22 dollah
my favorite monty quote
Boy the look of disappointment on that girls face after she saw the Triumph car she could have won. You would have thought they could have had a fur coat or something for the lady's to go with that motorcycle 💲800 was a CHEAP BIG DEAL❗
We are spoiled today because these people are going nuts over a color TV
This is Episode 81 of The Syndicated Run- OAD: September 29, 1973
I love this version of LMAD because of the live band.
The prizes on these early 1970s shows were a lot better than the ones on 1980s LMAD, probably bc these were on 1 of the big 3 TV Networks (ABC?), while the 1980s show was syndicated so must have had a lower budget.
The 1983-86 version was bottom basement. THIS episode, backed by ABC money, could do as it pleased.
@@jasonbeard4713 Also the price of cars went way up in the 80s, I remember on the 1970s Let's Make a Deal they said a Corvette only cost $7,500 and a Jaguar was $10,000 as was a huge Cadillac, but in the 80s a small compact Chevy was worth $7500 to $10,000.
I absolutely LOVE the time when we could speak worldwide accents, without any negative feelings or derision... we had a sense of humor then! We loved each other, and embraced all the things that made us different from each other, and found the HUMOR in those things!! I still do!! I will NEVER let the Politically Correct Mind Police take this from me!
Tre404 weirdo
That model T would be worth 10 to 20K today.
They were still quite common even in the 60s and 70s and still "gag worthy / jalopy" and not worth that much. I was born in the early 1960s and I saw many Model Ts and Model As as a kid being used as farm stand beater pickup trucks or powering small saw mills, etc.
Yeah, Well My father used to buy used 1966 and 1967 Chrysler Newports for $250 back in the early 1970s bc he was cheap and never bought new cars, now those same cars sell for over $10K bc they are considered classic muscle cars.
if you look closely at the air conditioner, it's got a manufacturer's defect, the gasket is sticking out of the cabinet
Over $600 for tires in the 70s? Those tires can easily fetch $4,000 today.
The Chinese dinners was a really creative zonk. I honestly wouldn't have minded that if I was a Chinese food nut.
Sir, I kind of like Chinese food myself these days too ...
Scooby Carr that's the thing. I can order it once and then not have it again for a while.
I picked door 🚪 number 1,so I won the car 🚘 & I want it now!🚪🚘🚪🚘🚪🚘🚪🚘🚪🚘🚪🚘🚪🚘🚪🚘🚪🚘🚪🚘🚪🚘🚪🚘!
About 2:00 into LMAD I saw a watch that said Waltham - wonder if that nice brand of watches is still around?
3k$ thats about 20K today!
“It’s a deluxe billiard table for the man in your life!” 😂😂😂

Regarding the big deal...
What if they just got new furniture...
What if they prefer floors over carpet?

Alot of the same prizes or guessing price items was used over and over again
if you listen to monty..he was quite sexist against women..always putting them down..
