For decades the US has been surrounding Russia with bases and pointing missiles at them. Now the US is setting up no fly zones between Russia and Africa, in over countries the US has no sovereignty in by the way, and Hillary Clinton threatened in live debate to start shooting down Russian aircraft, which are mostly cargo and passenger jets.

There is a difference between normalizing relations and appeasement.
Trump wants a policy of appeasement with Putin. In the 1930s, just before WW2, UK Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain maintained a policy of appeasement with Nazi Germany in which Britain and France turned a blind eye to the Nazis military buildup and annexation of Australia as well as parts of Czechoslovakia (the Sudetenland).
The Nazis knew that after the French & British did nothing about Germany's annexation of the Sudetenland and Austria, they could basically do whatever they want hence they invaded Poland as well.
Putin is modernizing the Russian military, invaded Georgia in 2008, annexed the Ukraine (not to dissimilar to the Nazi annexation of the Sudetenland) and sparked a proxy-war in Eastern Ukraine.
Appeasement didn't work with the Nazis in 1939 and it won't work with the Russians in 2016 and Trump will just be another Neville Chamberlain if he continues to ignore Putin's territorial expansion.

Not gonna lie, the US has had morally bankrupt political allies for decades. But my objections to this arrangement are less ethical and more practical. Saudi Arabia does terrible things, but they don't represent a significant threat to America in the grand scheme of things.
Russia is also guilty of numerous crimes, but unlike our enemies in the middle east, Russia has the martial, logistical and economic power to actually cause problems. If it is in fact true that they manipulated this election, it sets a dangerous precedent.
I'm already uncomfortable with the people that determine who leads us; the last thing we need is Vladimir Putin exorcising influence.

It somewhat implies clown, but usually Putins view is that working together is better.
He usually goes on to point out that America and Nato have bases all around Russia. US has about 100 bases all over the world.
Russia is not the one trying to expand its reach.
I noticed that translations aren't always great, so this is my "quick" response to your query/statement .
I think that Putin isn't a fan of America but when I hear him talk, assuming that the translations are accurate, he doesn't come across as the type to want to rage open war.

Crimean here. Russia pretty much prevented a war between Crimea and Ukraine by moving their troops there.
You know, when the whole revolution thing started, Crimea, which has been pretty pro-Yanukovych, decided that they did not want to fucking sponsor it and told Kiev to fuck off (... again. Actually Crimea had tried to segregate before, but Kuchma didn't let them... which is OK, it's kinda his job as a president, but still...). Kiev didn't like that. People were arming themselves. Then Russian troops decided to say "hello" and that's the end of the story.
While I do realize that Russia took Crimea for themselves for sheer self-benefit, they also ended up possibly saving my family who still lived there at the moment. So, go fuck yourself. Crimea doesn't care when the cold war ended. Crimea is better off thanks to Russia.
Mind you that I'm not saying that Putin did _the right thing_. I am saying that Crimean people are _absolutely fucking OK with it_. They saved us, whether you like it or not. Make up a better argument.
