Ok, so I am watching this series a year behind everyone else, but these four do more to entertain me than any big time Hollywood actors. And I love how they keep it clean!

Dungeon Dudes Admittedly this is off topic, but I am curious as to why no one has thought of whom the Lord of the Feast was beforehand? Perhaps a heir, or maybe the general of the army before the meteor hit? (I figured more than likely it was the previous head of military affairs.)
Pluto was already my favorite character and things just got even more spicy! Did he arrange this with the queen all those years ago or did I miss something?
So is the plot between Pluto and the Queen that they’re trying to seat his nephew/her grandson on both thrones? The threat about marrying one of the queens daughters to Jupiter makes me think Pluto was offered a throne.
So I know I’m late as hell but I’ve been binge watching the series during quarantine and you guys inspired me to dm a game myself. While I’m still way far away from being Monty level, every seemed to really enjoy the campaign I found and how I sold it and it’s probably got a lot to do with me watching you guys so much these past few weeks.
I've been playing D&D with my group for about a year (although our sessions are only once a month); however, I love watching other groups play so I can see how they do things! Just found these guys and have been slowly working my way through.
Dungeon Dudes has a video about cantrips in which they talk about minor illusion. They say that it can be interpreted as the illusion of an object cannot move (or a sound that can). I am amused at the thought of Sebastian Crow twice (so far) casting a minor illusion hair on his bald head. Arguably the illusory hair is only on his head until he moves and then it stays hanging in space like a levitating toupée. He is so weird and chaotic and he revels in making people uncomfortable so he must love this.
Kind of a late response, but I had this same thought. Then I thought about what the reference point would be. Like, if they're on a moving planet the illusion would fly through it, almost the instant it was cast. So by the logic that it can move along side a reference point, his head should work too, right? Maybe I'm just overthinking this, but I commend the DM for allowing it.
@@spadekersey4102 an object in motion will stay in motion. at the time of their creation the illusions are subject to movement and gravity and are dependent on the observers who are also governed by these laws :)
@@TheCBC1984 so, if I decided to use Jupiter as my observer, the illusion would manifest miles away and continue to get further and further away. You have to assume a local observer otherwise you pretty much find a point of observation where the spell's effects are perceived as stationary, regardless of the path you will it to take in reference to yourself.
Setting up your friends: that's not selfish, it's efficient. If the monsters have to wail fruitlessly around Pluto's maneuvers while Sebastian manipulates the field, and Veo picks them off in order, that's success in a bottle. Otherwise, it doesn't matter how the enemy die, just so long as they die. "In war, there is no substitute for victory."
4 years later and here I am. Learning so much from Monty's DM style. Running a Bloodborne Style campaign and found so much inspiration on what to do and how to run a city campaign. Thank you!
Honestly, the Lanterns are being pretty chill about the whole situation the Crew caused; breaking into the Keep, the thing with Oscar, locking up the son, murdering Sten, etc 😂
Yeah it's really messed up, they should be arrested and imprisoned for the crap they pulled. Murdering Sten and then constantly joking about it really ticked me off.
Your group reminds me of my 1st days with DnD (30ish years ago) and makes me feel like I'm surrounded by friends. Very cozy. A wonderful thing in late 2020. Thank you for putting all this together.
Pluto's speech about Sten is the best off-the-cuff speech I have ever heard. Just gold. I had to pause the video from laughing so hard. Thanks for doing this guys, I love it.
I love Pluto trying to reassure Veo about the meeting with the queen being boring and Sebastian just says: how about some food and they talk over Pluto and ignore him so easily
I love Queen Lenore, now that she has some clarity. If she had left her room and heard all of their previous arguing, this would’ve been wrapped up quickly.
I just had the realization that it's very possible the Queen of Thieves is one of Lenore's children, I have 31 more episodes to be proven wrong but I am excited to find out who they are!
Pluto is not just the coolest. Pluto is not just the best. Pluto is Caspian Credible! (needs work). Also, at the end you really gotta cut it to 'see you in the dungeon' so much better.
Hehe, then a few turns later, oops, she runs out of ammo... ;) Otherwise 'Action Surge' will only come on fighter level 2, and Veo will only be able to attack five times(!) in a round. Needle cushion everywhere! xD
Not going to lie i thought Pluto was going to be more a supporting character and the heart to the more dynamic veo and sebastian. After seeing his conversation with Lenore He Jumped up to Main Character Status

The fact that I can watch this without being worried if my kids hear cussing or crude comments makes this series the best 5e content on the internet. Thats not even talking about how freakishly good and entertaining it is.
I'm late to the party but I put this series on when I'm doing things around my house and listen like it's a podcast. Hilariously, the meeting between the Queen and Pluto, I was cleaning my toilet and I totally felt like a spy in the privy listing in the next room. Fantastic series folks! Very excited to continue listening.
Petra is handing out Potions of Greater Healing, and I thought, "Hang about, the party picked up a backpack containing 6 of those in the Dungeon of Doom... Oh, wait, that was an entirely different game universe; and months after this episode!" If Pluto spends to long in the fighting pits, he'll end up, "Deb inside!" I like the comment about "... being a little bit less meta-gamey..." came at the end of an episode in which the players are trying to work out how to continue to increase Veo's damage output :D
The background music gets better and better as the show advances... And great game, as always! Thanks for this show and congrats on your work. Love all your videos!
I'm playing catch-up and enjoying this greatly. I am thinking something, don't know if I'm right but it'd be killer if the Queen of Thieves is actually a Princess of Drakkenheim, one of the "children" they're looking for, who really does believe herself to be the true Queen of Drakkenheim since she doesn't know her mother truly lives. I look forward to finding out if I'm anywhere close to right or completely wrong lol

Catching up on some episodes I missed… I love how they "made amends" with their friends the Hooded Lanterns: they infiltrated their compound, killed one of their guys, made their potion-maker run away, threatened them and made a terrible eulogy. Worked way better than when they were trying to be nice :D
I have been playing a sorcerer and I have chosen spells based on what magic he has seen and wants to manifest or a need that keeps coming up and he wants to manifest.
This sequence totally made me think of Don Corneo's fighting ring the way it was re-imagined in FFVII Remake (in the flavor of Big Trouble in Little China), hahah. So good. MORE BLOOD!

You always know sh!t gets real when the title theme begins playing during the session. Kind of fun how this session contained rather diverse things. From the first time some players had to step away and not be present for important dialogue, to the inevitable arena sequence that Neverwinter Nights taught me is bound to happen at some point in many campaigns. From campaign-critical plot information to some fun diversion on the way, and sheer gameplay fun of dealing insane damage in one round. Back in the early 00s' MMO days, at least in WoW, people called what Veo did there "globaled", i.e. killed someone within one global cooldown (0.5 sec or less) before they could even use any ability themselves. I wonder how the bandits keep their taverns fully supplied, however... secret deliveries? Could be a fun side trail to investigate for some reason, them having a reliable supply chain into the seemingly "overworld dungeon" of a city. The best twist right now would be for the Queen's Men to be led by... the Queen of Drakkenheim. Raising the question of which is the real one, if either. Though, of course, the rather likely prospect of a royal family member or one of her personal guards (Veo's dad?) being the lead is tasty too.
Something about the title "Queen of Thieves" does sound like a callback to that horrible Robin Hood movie, a suggestion of oppressed or disenfranchised nobility trying to restore the fallen kingdom. It's just cheesy enough, and exactly the right kind of cheese, to work in a RPG. I suppose the question then is, "Where do we find the Men In Tights to join up as allies?"
@@animistchannel2983 as soon as the 3 Crowes/Veo and the Pussycats/Jackson 3/strikeforce realize there's plenty of brothels that will have tights, and convince the ratprince and his minions to wear them so as to distinguish allied ratmen from enemy ratmen. :D
@@michaelsorensen7567 Nice! That level of "meta" wouldn't work in every campaign, but I think they could get there with this one. I like that they aren't afraid to be self-aware or through the 4th wall a bit and it doesn't spoil the story. A lot of that is credit to Monty. He rolls with the gags and still holds the narrative together as well as anyone I've seen, or been. I think it's an important and underrated GM skill to be able to "go there" with the improv and still hold your world together and not miss a beat.

I'm just now watching this series in 2021 and the scene where Pluto was giving his completely inappropriate comments at the funeral was so hilarious. I just imagined myself being at a funeral and having someone stand up to say that. Almost passed out from laughing so hard. To cap it all off he rolled a nat 1. What a great series, this is definitely one of my favorites. Such a great cast, can't wait to watch more!
I'm of the mind that Sorcerors should pick a path and that's how they develop spells. That doesn't mean a Fire sorceror shouldn't pick something like Charm, but they should avoid things like Ice Spike.
I try to make all of Sebastian spell choices either relate to weird darkness, manipulation of the physical world or fire. Fire and Shadow is his theme.
Wasn't trying to criticize to be clear. I posted that at the beginning when you and Monty mentioned the way he thought Sorcerors get spells. And I do think all three of you are doing great so far with keeping things in-flavor. This is my favorite game to watch right now and I can't wait to catch up.
A troll has 84 hit points and Veo just did 82 damage in a single round!! She could definitely take out a troll in a single round!! What does Pluto have to say to that huh?

Love the show. That being said, Murder Hobos pretty much sums up Pluto's speech and all of the player's reactions to casually murdering someone.

Something about the title "Queen of Thieves" does sound like a callback to that horrible Robin Hood movie, a suggestion of oppressed or disenfranchised nobility trying to restore the fallen kingdom. It's just cheesy enough, and exactly the right kind of cheese, to work in a RPG. I suppose the question then is, "Where do we find the Men In Tights to join up as allies?"
@@animistchannel2983 as soon as the 3 Crowes/Veo and the Pussycats/Jackson 3/strikeforce realize there's plenty of brothels that will have tights, and convince the ratprince and his minions to wear them so as to distinguish allied ratmen from enemy ratmen. :D
@@michaelsorensen7567 Nice! That level of "meta" wouldn't work in every campaign, but I think they could get there with this one. I like that they aren't afraid to be self-aware or through the 4th wall a bit and it doesn't spoil the story.
A lot of that is credit to Monty. He rolls with the gags and still holds the narrative together as well as anyone I've seen, or been. I think it's an important and underrated GM skill to be able to "go there" with the improv and still hold your world together and not miss a beat.
I do love the fact that Monty did not even soften the death of Sten by even saying he was terminally ill and already dying or something :P

I'm just now watching this series in 2021 and the scene where Pluto was giving his completely inappropriate comments at the funeral was so hilarious. I just imagined myself being at a funeral and having someone stand up to say that. Almost passed out from laughing so hard. To cap it all off he rolled a nat 1. What a great series, this is definitely one of my favorites. Such a great cast, can't wait to watch more!

I'm of the mind that Sorcerors should pick a path and that's how they develop spells. That doesn't mean a Fire sorceror shouldn't pick something like Charm, but they should avoid things like Ice Spike.
I try to make all of Sebastian spell choices either relate to weird darkness, manipulation of the physical world or fire. Fire and Shadow is his theme.
Wasn't trying to criticize to be clear. I posted that at the beginning when you and Monty mentioned the way he thought Sorcerors get spells. And I do think all three of you are doing great so far with keeping things in-flavor. This is my favorite game to watch right now and I can't wait to catch up.

I’m a bit late to the party here, but I appreciate the reference at 46:19 to the old 3.5 adventure Red Hand of Doom. I wonder if that means that Drakkenheim is supposed to be in the same universe as that adventure?
