The truth is that tank duels are a thing of the past and we may never see them again. Pitting tank against tank is the most ineffective tactic.

@donaldatherton319 that's how a trench assault usually starts. Your infantry section and heavy weapons put covering fire on the trench while one guy crawls up and put a few grenades in the trench. The man that crawls up the the trench will sometimes only have a pistol drawn (makes it easier to crawl) and he does not storm the entire trench by himself .

Not anymore, noticed the less use of Javelins ? Russians have added jamming and infrared dampening material onto their tank. This is why literally we've only heard 2 reports of Javelins destroying russian tanks since the year begun. its more FPV drones claiming these kills now

@pickinthatbanjo around 2,000 russian tanks have been destroyed so far in this war according to oryx. most are destroyed by mines, artillery or drones. javelin's have destroyed maybe 1 or 2 hundred tanks. the us gave ukraine over 10,000 javelin's at 200,000 grand a pop. and only products 2,400 per year so an overly expensive and in the grand scheme of things not very affective weapon. by far the most affective weapons in this war have been. artillery, mines, cheap drones and glide bombs.

For our Russian friends her, there is an old Soviet Proverb: "We have a large modern well trained Army, but neither is the modern well trained part large nor is the large part modern and well trained."
According to Russian Speznaz commanders at the End of 2024 they complained that half of the good troops are now dead and the replacements are not so good.
So yes there are good well trained russian Troops out there but half of them are dead and Ukrainian Soldiers get twice the training time before they reach the line of contact.
On most occassion even more then they should get, as their Units provide one or two extra month of specialised Training.
While Russian Troops on average got only one third of their alotted time. So 6 Month +1-2 Month Training against 1-2 Month training. Russian Speznaz units in the combat zone, knowing that their survival depends on everyone competent of course train their new recruits as hard as possible so they are more competent, but that putt those Soldiers on a below average level at best from horrendous before.
One of the things I appreciate most about this channel is that a person is doing the narration. I hate how computers fail to correctly pronounce every third word.

Currently several european countries have signed "safety treaties" with Ukraine, for instance Germany, Poland, France, UK and the EU. I suppose these agreements are nothing more than a placebo or a "smoke screen", binding no one to support Ukraine with their own troops. Even if Ukraine were on its knees they would certainly NOT send their own soldiers! So it's just window dressing, similar to the mentioned Budapest Agrreement of 1994!

@@Crusader-9Nah. I don't know which radars are you referring to but the GSR (the only somewhat plausible option) can not really be used to aim accurately. They used thermals if the tank was modernized but other than that just optical sights. Even small movements (turret rotating etc.) are surprisingly easy to spot even through dense foliage.

I humbly disagree with comment about tank vs tank and we probably won’t ever see that again. That’s a very bold statement. As long as countries produce tanks, I would say the probability definitely exists.
It is highly unlikely, at least in this war. Since Ukraine got modern, western tanks, Russia has basically done their best to keep their tanks away from the western ones. The Ukrainians have expressed frustration on this, saying the Russians refuse to come out and play.

Great video boss! Couple things of the vids
1st one the UA tank couldn't depress its barrel enough to punch an AP round through the tanks body so put 2 through the turret that's likely why it didn't brew up nothing to blow up but the crew was likely cut to pieces
2nd video that guy is a bloody beast his tank had to be doing 30 kmh through that field and he's up there walking around like he's doing yard work
4th video. Ambush video is unfortunately a UA tank getting hit. Saw a video and they interviewed a couple other tankers from that tanks unit
Disappointing to hear it was a Ukrainian tank. I was so hoping it was Russian. I suppose they get lucky every now and again. There must have been a slight rise along the track for the Ukrainian commander not to spot it.

Those Tankensteins have to be a lot heavier than their design specs call for!
I realize they aren't trying to go particularly fast, especially when a drone can outrun them no matter how light they are, but it can't be good for the transmission and drivetrain in general!

One thing about those impressive tank-on-tank explosions - they are often only half caused by the ammunition being fired, the other half is the reactive armor of the tank being targeted (which is designed to explode outwards, preventing penetration by the incoming shot). And then of course you have the T-72 which tends to blow itself up when a shot does get through its armor and into its ammunition. (Edit) A round that explodes after penetrating kills the the tank even when it does not ignite fuel or ammunition and this is a lot less spectacular than external detonation after deflection.

We're making an anti-drone cover out of bamboo, which is lightweight, strong, inexpensive, and easy to process. We're using the bamboo as a frame. Instead of using steel plates, we're tying a thin, lightweight, and breathable net to the bamboo frame.
Using bamboo, we can equip the drone net 5-8 meters away from the armored vehicle.
The key is that if the drone's rotors hit the net, the drone won't be able to fly. It will crash. It will self-destruct.

Tank battles were pretty rare anyway.
There were the well known tank battles in northern Africa in WWII between Rommel and the British. Then there was about one bigger tank battle on the eastern front (probably Kursk). That's about it. I may have missed some, but they were pretty rare.
This is not true at all. All through the bulge there was multiple tank battles. Same on the eastern front. They weren't as big as Kursk but tanks did most of the breakout work and constantly ran into each other. I can think of 5 incidents off the topic my head just in the Bulge, of tank battles. There's a,book written by a British tanky that had 3-4 battles just with that one crew.
Simply not true as to WWII.
Apart from the mentioned Kursk and Bulge/Ardennes tank battles, the following tank battles spring to mind, off my head...
Falais pocket
Operation Goodwood
Villers-bocage
Hürtgen Forest
Counter offensive at Mortain
Battle of Arras (1940)
Battle of Brody (1941)
Sedan (1940)
Kasserine pass (though that goes through as the North African campaign )
Various smaller tank battles by Patton/Montgomery's forces in Sicily
Just to name a few.
Let's also not forget the tank battles in Korea and in Iraq.
Tank battles will still continue to be a thing. It's very unlikely we'll ever see western armor go up against itself though

Hm, the shells from the first ukrainian Tank seemed to be HE, not suitable AP. The explosion was probably the HE + the reactive armor. I'm not so sure, that the russian tank is destroyed, but the crew is shaken for sure. The drone camera does not linger after the shots, so we don't know. Normally, a destroyed tank is shown in the survaillance.
You can see the difference, as @3:50 you can see what AP Munition does to a tank.

As a former trooper in an armoured regiment, there's a lot of guff in this video. First up, even Russian tanks will withstand frontal hits from your average RPG. Second, the purpose of "turtle" tops is not to add armour, but to break up the silhouette of the tank in the field. I.e. make it less easy and obvious to spot. Next, fire and manoeuvre is highly recommended for the continue survivability of your tank! As is keeping the turret rotated to train your main gun on the enemy in any sort of manoeuvre.

The Abrams is very high maintenance and guzzles gas like nobody's business. Money is better spent elsewhere considering too how many vehicles become drone fodder.
Yeah in a defensive role they don't appear to be very useful although they burn gas no worse than a T-80 would. Still the high upkeep and low number of units makes that a pretty questionable aid package.
@@SPAZZYok any suggestions other than being critical? Back in the late 50's when I was in the tank corp commanding a Patton M48 we were lucky to get 3 miles per gallon but that’s the best we had back then. You used and do the best you could with what you’re given.
I might also add that the tank in battle isn’t driving around 100's of miles. If it survives it may have driven 10 miles. Either fuel trucks are close by or you go back to the tank park to fuel up, check hydraulics and reload ammo.

The F-35 has been plagued with reliability and maintainability issues since its development. Compared to legacy fighter jets, the F-35 requires significantly more maintenance hours per flight hour. Estimates vary, but most sources indicate the F-35 requires between 12-20 maintenance hours per flight hour, whereas 4th generation fighters like the F-22 and Su-57 are typically in the 6-10 maintenance hours per flight hour range.
@@stanmans I've heard the same. It's seems that the manufactures put out anything knowing the US will buy it regardless of cost or maintenance. (The F 22 is primarily an air to air stealth fighter. The F 35 is a multirole fighter which exceeds at air to ground operations but can fight ata.) Still $108 million each and that doesn't include maintenance. The US plans to buy 1800 of them at a cost of 2 trillion in the coming years. Why I wonder it's insane.

Don´t forget all the NLAWS from SWEDEN they are equally good as javelins.
They both had their strong points. NLAWS cost less but have a short distance, Javelins cost more but are better for long distance.

Tank dules are not a thing of the past, they will still happen, but in this war, it depends on the conditions of the front lines and landscape and battle conditions and equipment.
Superior sight probably use infrared.
