James, you're techniques have improved all my cooks on my big Joe III. Thank you so much. Most of your videos tell viewers roughly how to set the vents. I live at almost 7,000 ft. elevation. There's a lot less oxygen up here so I must open my top and bottom a lot more. You might want to mention that elevation will have an impact on the vent settings. Thanks again.
Thanks James for you excellent video on extras. I love my Su-Vgun that I have had for 4 years or so. Lights my Green Egg very quickly and I use it to light camping fires.
Always one of the videos I look forward to the most each year. I think I've gotten something off this list for the past several years. Last year was the Pepper Cannon and that has been the thing I've used the most and it easily surpassed the quality of the Unicorn Magnum I've had for the past 20 years.
EXCELLENT content ..... again! Unfortunately or fortunately I have acquired most of these items over the last 12-15 years of smoking & watching you; except the pepper cannon... ... I guess its like the golfer that is always looking for the perfect club to improve their game... Jeers. ..
Grillgun accessory - refillable 1lb propane tank from Mr. Heater. Their "Fuel Keg" refill kit and tank are available in the USA (not yet sold in Canada due to in-progress CSA certification). It will cut down your refill tank costs by refilling from a 20lb bulk tank. I ordered from Home Depot USA and shipped to Canada and it wasn't that hard on the wallet.
The extender has been great for direct-fire cooking a la the Chud Box (as featured in one of your videos). The Kick Ash Can is an absolute game changer.
i tried to link as many as i could find for sale online. the rib basket thing i had imported from europe - thebarbecuelady.nl/product/the-spit-on-fire-carrousel-medium/ The site is not english but i emailed them and the owner speaks english and helped me figure out the checkout process
The best thing I ever did was get Kick Ash basket and can for my Grilla Grill. But, Grilla does not make a rotisserie for my Kong grill. And, I can't swing getting a Big Joe 2 right now. So, I am going to try getting Joe rotisserie and see if it works. I hope it's returnable..? Thanks as always for some good information on what to buy and make cooking better.
Another great video James! I recently saw a video where you use the kick ash can to add more wood chunks to improve the smoke profile to your bbq. I’ve tried adding chips to the ash tray but they never seem to catch fire so this looks like the best way to add more smoke! So thankyou for sharing that. I have a classic 3. Do you know what size i need to get? The website doesnt tell you. They have small, medium, large
if you follow the link there is a shop by grill button. click KJ and then click classic 3, it shows you only the parts confirmed to fit. for some reason the series 3 doesn't list the can but it works, so i used the series 2 page (Part Number: KAC-9.7)
James, if things go sideways while you’re cooking, what’s the safest fire extinguisher to use on the KJ. Don’t care about saving the food, but I don’t want to destroy the ceramic
Hi James, i hope you are well. I recently purchased a smokeware cap to replace the daisy wheel on my jr.. Do you find that its harder to dial in and maintain low and slow temps with the smokeware cap over the daisy wheel ? I have never had an issue before but was struggling to maintain smoking temps with the bottom vent at about a pencils width and the top vent open about 2cm ! Lol maybe i need to shut the top down more? Thank you
James, I have a BJ3 and after watching this video I really like the ideas of a kick ash can. When I go to their website they don’t have one for the BJ3. They have one for the BJ2, would that one also fit the BJ3? Thanks for all the info you share, really helps out. Jason
Happy Thanksgiving James and thanks for my new addiction! Have you come up with a way to raise the coals on a Big Joe? I have lowered the grilles but still would like to get closer. Hope your doing well.
that was tricky, imported from netherlands at a site called the barbecue lady - thebarbecuelady.nl/product/kamado-rotisserie-spit-on-fire-compact/ I emailed and the owner spoke english and was able to help me figure it out
Thank you for listening James. They are very off brand. I'll go out on a limb and ask you to reconsider limiting when you say "something like ___". 99% of the time when you say this, you actually mean "exactly like".
the air lift hinge is bulkier at the back than the BGE design, i would get the measurements for that and check before ordering otherwise the dimensions of the large / classic 1/2 are pretty much the same (also xl egg and big joe 1/2)
i had to import it from europe .... the site isn't english but via email they helped me figure out how to check out - thebarbecuelady.nl/product/the-spit-on-fire-carrousel-medium/
Hello. I have a KJ II CLASSIC. I am wondering if the slow n sear accessories that fit the BGE will fit my KJ II? Also, will you do a video with the slow and sear accessory if it does fit on the KJ? THANKS!!!!
I didn’t plan one but I did do a which kj accessories fit a while back that shows which of these work th-cam.com/video/p2fd5_axtzM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=eBNGs8L2PZkeL3zk
Trying to order your Better BBQ Guide but can’t get it to work on PayPal. How I didn’t order more than one. I just want one but I can’t get it to work. If you could help I would appreciate it. Thanks
Be careful buying things from Kamado Joe. I have a IKamand vent accessory. I tried to respond and get compensated from them when they ended support for the unit! I NEVER HEARD ONE WORD FROM THEM. THEY HAVE NO NUMBER TO CALL!! They left me with a brick.
That’s terrible. Sorry for you but thanks for sharing for others reading comments. I thought on Facebook groups most people reported getting a refund for their bricked ikamand

Fire board drive is hands down the biggest must have.
they do good work
Just bought your digital bundle for the Joe - there will soon be some great aromas coming from my new Joe Jr 😊
Greetings from Scotland 👍
Awesome! Thank you!
Thanks James for you excellent video on extras. I love my Su-Vgun that I have had for 4 years or so. Lights my Green Egg very quickly and I use it to light camping fires.

The soapstone changed everything for me. I use it constantly.
just got mine! any tips??
Just in time for this week! Thank you!
Perfect!

That Meater Pro Duo is tempting!
they did a great job on this, digging it
Great stuff, though you Canadians already had your turkey day: Happy Thanksgiving (when I was stationed in North Bay, I celebrated both!) 🙂

Does the kick ash work on kettle joe???
James, if things go sideways while you’re cooking, what’s the safest fire extinguisher to use on the KJ. Don’t care about saving the food, but I don’t want to destroy the ceramic
Close the lid carefully and close the vents. It'll extinguish with no damage to the grill.
this for sure, the extinguisher i have is just home depot and its rated for oils that could spill outside the grill and or deck etc. fires

I ordered the one for the series 2. Same fire bowl so not sure why they exclude the series 3 but I have it and confirm it’s the same as my series 1
Hi! Can you do a rib roast on the rotisserie?
yes for sure, have done a few.. the basket has been hit or miss as its smaller so it needs to be no more than a 2 bone roast to fit
Will basket kit work on big joe 3? Thanks!
Yes I have used it many times on mine
Happy Thanksgiving James and thanks for my new addiction! Have you come up with a way to raise the coals on a Big Joe? I have lowered the grilles but still would like to get closer. Hope your doing well.
you can set the grid on the fire box and bring the coals right up to below it if you need them that close
where did you get you joe tisserie for the Kamado joe jr.

Boy oh boy, no doubt this comment in 100% correct.
Does the Kick Ash Basket work with the Kamado Joe ash drawer? Their website says it does not and I want to keep using the ash drawer.
No it replaces it

i had to import it from europe .... the site isn't english but via email they helped me figure out how to check out - thebarbecuelady.nl/product/the-spit-on-fire-carrousel-medium/
So.... How does one obtain one here in the US?
@@SmokingDadBBQ which size works with the BJ3, medium or large? Your link goes to the medium version.
@ I got the medium but I think I could have fit the large in the big Joe. I would ask them to confirm as I wish I didn’t need to trim the ribs as much

What accessories can be used with the pellet Joe? They are on sale right now for $799
Which kick ash can fit in the KJ Classic II?
If you go to the link in description and hit shop by grill select Kamado Joe then the classic 2 and it shows you the right ones
Good lord, the cost of those grill guns! I think I may have to settle with an Amazon-tier equivalent and hope for the best.
I did.... It broke in 2 weeks haha. I still use it but they are chheeappp
You can always use a leaf blower on a fire starter or old hair drier to speed it up
