    I was born there and lived there for 28 years. Sugar Hollow is something worth seeing and has a great hiking trail along the fire road. Take your time and explore the city, especially the great restaurants in the Belmont neighborhood.

    A couple of things. Both the UVA grounds as well as Monticello are the same UNESCO world heritage site, they're not different. It's called the "Academical Village", not the "Academic" village. The only building which was inspired by the Pantheon is the Rotunda, which is different from every other building on the grounds. The town of Crozet near Charlottesville is pronounced "CROW-ZAY", not "CROW-ZET".

    An extremely generic list with strange errors throughout. You’ve never been to Charlottesville. Please stop pronouncing the “t” in “Crozet”. Claudius will be grateful. 😂

    Considering bringing my mom with me to Charlottesville, she's older and doesn't have all her mental faculties. Would we still be able to find fun things to do in Charlottesville or would we basically be staying home the whole time? IYKYK and thank you in advance

    I was born and raised in the DMV (Del. Md. Va.). I am an outdoors man, among other interests. There are pockets of National History here in Charlottesville that no other State can claim. This goes without saying as it is also perched in the foothills of the Appalachian mountains @ around 700 - 800 feet above sea level which can make for a breath taking skyline. There are as many varying types of people who live in this region as well. The vast majority of people who live in the area are of a conservative tilt to Independent in one fashion or another. University of Virginia has influenced Albemarle county for a very long time. Theirs is a majority of Democrats who live close to town, but they are not the Northern VA crowd of Alexandria, Springfield and Fairfax. No.
    This area consists of wineries, vineyards, horse farms and stables. The local country club has 15 tennis courts and 4 pickle-ball courts. Swimming pool, workout area, restaurant, bar and golf course, which I can say plays well enough to justify the membership cost. There are hunting clubs with kennels and I'm sure the occasional fox hunt. It is expensive to live here and the average cost of a nice house is 1m - 2.5m. There are plenty of 500k - 800k townhouses which I wouldn't pay $0.02 to live in let alone own. Not my style. What I'm trying to convey without actually saying is that if you want to live here and fit in, you are going to need at least 8 figures in the bank and a very thick skin.
    Bottom line? It is a wonderful place to live and visit that sometimes gets caught up in the University's Horse Hockey, just like every single college town in America. I don't know about you but my mama taught me that if you constantly pick at a scab the wound will never heal. A little wisdom from a very old woman who has seen way more than she ought to.
    Now, I would plan a trip if you are a wine enthusiast with a history fetish. Stay for a week or two if you can in one of the many B&B's. Be prepared to spend some cash and do some shopping. Bring your walking shoes and your slip on barn boots. The grass in the Vineyards is tall and wet. Late Summer/Fall is the best season to be here. You'll love it.

      The "D" in DMV stands for the District (D.C.), not Delaware.

    • @BillyReed68
      @BillyReed68 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don't know who told you that, but they would be wrong @@WhoBeSilly ...DC is not a state, and DMV actually stands for Dept of Motor Vehicles, but is a shortened version of DEL MAR VA (all those crazy kids with their texting apps shortening everything without asking anyone first to see if it is taken already). So... You're just a Karen who thinks they know it all because they know where to find the wiki app on their phone. Bless your heart. By by now.

    • @WhoBeSilly
      @WhoBeSilly 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@BillyReed68 Lmao, you are wrong, bud. "Delmarva", while it refers to a portmanteau of Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, this only extends to that particular corner of the three states (on the Delmarva Peninsula) and is NOT what is meant when they say "DMV" on the radio, or in commercials, or when referring to the region in general that encompasses northern VA, the District, and surrounding suburbs in Maryland. It refers to "District - Maryland - Virginia" almost exclusively.

    • @WhoBeSilly
      @WhoBeSilly 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@BillyReed68 why are you quoting "official"? It's not official, it's what people say to describe the area comprising the District-Maryland-Virginia.

    • @WhoBeSilly

      Yeah, this guy's video aint exactly a Foder's Guide. Charlottesville is in central Virginia, at the base of the Blue Ridge mountains, about 75 miles west-northwest of Richmond and about 130 miles southwest of Washington D.C. C-ville, as it's known at times, rates up there in the cost of living as well as real estate, especially since it's the home of UVa. It is typically more affluent than a lot of the surrounding towns, but in my opinion, it's still pretty affordable compared to other cities in the state. You get plenty of accommodations and lots of attractions for a city its size. It has great hiking/biking paths and within an hour you can be in the Shenandoah Valley or the Blue Ridge. If wine is your thing (Virgina wine, at that, gag) there are lots of wineries around as well as breweries. You'll have to deal with insane laws and regulations thanks to its ridiculous liberal Democrat government, but that's par for the course when dealing with a college town.

    "Croz-ette" Pizza! Ha! The pizza is ok, hardly a world-beater; pronounced Cro-zay. Klu-gee (hard g), not Kloog. At least you said Monticello correctly.
