Sooo good to watch & hear someone talking about an image they have taken that they love. It's seeing that passion and enthusiasum for photography that gets people out there to try it themselves. Knowing how hard it can be getting a good astro shot I think they both turned out very well. Maybe helped by not having the pressure to video the process. You prove you can get good results with fairly slow wide angle lens, the type most people may start off with. Good luck with the comp!
Definitely helped by concentrating on the photography & having fun with it. I've always tried to push the 'you don't need the best equipment' ethos so this comment means a lot. Thanks Jeff.
I love the one you called Interstellar Standoff myself but with any art it is incredibly subjective and personal so the only opinion that really matters is yours man. Keep up the good work!
Well done, both are outstanding images! I always enjoy hearing about the thought processes behind images. It bothers me that most people just glance at photos without taking the time to truly appreciate them and the story they tell.
The two photos are excellent Joseph, especially as you are new to astronomy photography. Hard to pick a favourite of the two, but the first image in B&W works best, and you just about captured all of the large Winter Triangle asterism. It's also amazing just how much of the subtle winter Milky Way you have picked up in both images. The bright star in the top right corner of each image is Capella, the alpha star in the constellation Auriga. This area of the night sky is close to the galactic anti-centre, marking the opposite direction of the Milky Way core from our perspective. Just wait until summer when the Milky Way core rises above the southern horizon. It's a spectacular sight, and I hope you get chance to see it.
As my old Great Grandad once said to my Grandad when he asked him what he thought of my Dad's new car " It doesn't matter what I think, It's what lad think's that counts" So I say to you now Joseph if you think these are the best images you have taken .... Well then that is all that counts :D I think they are both really nice images the one you have dropped in to b&w works well (stronger than the colour version) and I really like the one with the lighthouse light shining on you and your light on it ;D I actually think the stars do look really good in that image too , if they were not there the image would not be so dramatic:D Thank's for sharing and good luck with the competition atb ;D Teddy
A couple of great images, i really like the second one. Definitely worth being sold as prints. 👍
Thanks Mike - I appreciate it.
Hi Joe Great images and that on my doorstep, did you camp on the Island or just get lucky with the tide
Thanks Barry - walked on and off whilst the tide was low. Actually did a bit of tide research for once and planned around it. Thanks for watching.
I really like the trinity image colour version. I’d buy a copy to hang 😊👍🏻
Will let you know when they're available 🤓

Love the shots and thanks for the settings. How did you focus? I’ve always found this the most difficult aspect of night time photography
Thanks - focus to infinity. I struggled with that the first time I did it, once I nailed that everything else seems to fall into place.
Thanks for the reply. Focusing to infinity doesn’t work for me! Too far!
Smashin' photos!! 👍👍👏👏😎 I very taken by the colour one myself. ☺
Thanks buddy - appreciate you watching.
they are great looking images, I need to learn how to edit my astro images
Astro is possibly the more fun side of photography I've experienced. Hopefully that comes through in the images. Keep being creative mate.

Thanks Yorkshire Tom - appreciate it from a fellow Yorkshireman.

You look and sound like a proud daddy as you talk about them and show them. Excellent work buddy! You should be proud. 😎
Thanks Lou - def proud of the images & now just need to put some time and effort into the printing side of things.

Nice images mate and no reason at all not to put them up for sale. Really need to get off my backside and give this a proper go. Nice work mate 👍
Thank you Nick. Going to look into the printing side of things. Appreciate you watching mate.
