I could care less about the breakaway dunks and the childish, endless flexing. I did see some great vision and some insane ups on those blocked shots. I'd really love to see some coaches and parents teaching their kids about sportsmanship, humility and respect for your opponents. 99.9% of these kids are not going to make money playing ball so let's use sports to teach them how to be positive members of a community.

Back in the day Dave Winfield, HOF baseball player- drafted in three sports, said, "I could be a small man in basketball (though he was 6'6"), a big man in baseball or a broken man in football." If you have a chance of going pro in multiple sports DON'T EVER pick football unless, maybe, you're a QB. For everyone else, careers are too short- see Todd Gurley.

His comp is TRASH but that's cool because Alabama is a football state but you can ALWAYS learn how good a player is by his footwork with the ball. It determines your vision, your ability to get your shot off, and your ability to move in space. Especially since he's obviously not going to be an off-ball guard ala' JJ Redick. JD passes the eye test despite his poor level of comp. He possesses some of the intricate moves that players like Kyrie, Dame, Steph, and Fox have to boost with unrivaled athleticism and speed. I'd say his floor is Dennis Smith Jr/ Trevon Duval but his ceiling is Damian Lillard/John Wall. Either way, he enters the NCAA as the most explosive PG in the country regardless of class ranking. His frame, body control, leaping ability, change of space, verticality, quickness, and speed are Rose/ Wall/ Westbrook tier.
I think he proved he can play D1 by playing AAU ball against better competition and still playing very well.

I agree about the competition seen in most of the footage. His level of competition had been my criticism. But his stellar play in AAU helped me to have a little more confidence in how he might translate at the next level. However, he attended a 2A school, which in Alabama is the classification for very small high schools, so that competition was not a reflection of much of the basketball talent in Alabama - the schools go up to 7A.

lol sideshow bob is nowhere close to an nba talent right now, he's just more athletic than everyone else on the court at the high school level. We'll see how good he is when every other guy on the floor is just as fast, strong, and explosive, if not more. He's only 6'2 and has t-rex arms so buddy better hit the gym to work on his 3pt shot and also learn how to be a PnR maestro if he wants to even sniff an nba roster because i guarantee will be a liability on the defensive end.
