He was typically short in stature however massive in heart and courage. Every West Aussie footy fan has a soft spot for Chops. He had a work ethic, talent and courage. I loved this episode.
@@K69-y7b Hang on, my maths wasn’t right. My last year in high school was ‘79. So he was my form teacher in ‘74. Sorry about that. I tell you something I remember from that year. He had a party at his house where the students in our form were invited. I don’t remember anything bad happening but nothing like that would happen nowadays.
@@suepinakis3031....Yes definitely would not happen nowadays...I do remember him living in Heathridge in the early 80's...used to see him out the front of his house chilling out. 😎
@@jwpetros7065 I think you may be right. Wikipedia says of Fong... "As of 2016, he serves as chaplain of the West Coast Eagles Football Club" ....but sometimes Wiki gets things wrong.
might of been a great footy player, but he was the worst finance adviser, told me in 1997 NOT to invest in propertyand took his fee for an investment trust which lost 30% in 1 year!!
Used to be a Mick Molloy fan before he became a big headed bully. Looks bored when either of the two other panalists have a say and interrupts everyone (even the guests) with comments that are rarely relevant or humorous. Lost me as a viewer.
In March 2002 Carey had an extramarital affair with then-best-friend North Melbourne stalwart and Vice Captain Anthony Stevens's wife, Kelli. Carey and Stevens were attending a party at teammate Glenn Archer's house. Carey is quoted as saying Kelli followed him into the toilets, in front of a large crowd including her husband.[16] An argument ensued between Carey and Stevens[17] and both subsequently failed to attend football training. In the face of his team being united against him, as well as nationwide condemnation, Carey resigned in disgrace from North Melbourne.

He was my form teacher at Carine Senior High School in year 8 probably not long after you.
@@suepinakis3031 I didn't know he changed schools after I had finished my schooling in '84.

4 games for Carlton over 285 games for West Perth ? Fong would be the greatest by far !....and what a gent :)
What a player Fongy was would've been good to see him play VFL/AFL and seems like a nice guy also:)
We used to call him the In Form Les Fong, as it was one of the sports reports stories when I was a young lad
Fongy you legend.
Chopsticks. I’ll happily have some special fried rice from my local Chinese take away and watch his highlights for hours on end.
Les's brother Neale played amateur footy in Perth and has degrees in medicine and theology.
Has been chaplain of the West Coast Eagles since 2016.
Actually, he was chaplain between 1994 and 2015. A bloke called Paul Morrison has been the chaplain at West Coast since 2016.
