Kathryn Grayson's rendition of Jacob Garde's Jealousy was the best version of this wonderful tango. Deanna Durbin & Kathryn Grayson are the best two screen sopranos we have ever seen. May both of them rest in eturnal peace. Your vocal talents will be with us forever & a day.
Having posted this I am very grateful for your kind comments! I love Kathryn, and with the help of a fine friend, I've posted many of her film performances. here on YT! Best wishes! varadero
Rest in peace, Ms. Kathryn Grayson. :( You were one of the most beautiful and talented brunettes of the 40's, not to mention one of the most talented sopranos ever on film. You will be dearly missed -- may your film legacy live on forever. RIP.
We are all fan clubs of one. Kathryn is my all time favorite. Her ability to hit such high notes with apparently no effort is amazing. Love you Kathryn. Sing with the Angels, Honey
Thanks Mr. Smith, With great help from a fine friend I've posted quite a few of Kathryn's wonders! Please check them out on my channel! Good hearing from you! varadero
Jerome Kern thought Kate Grayson was the best and most exciting singer of her day. And, she was !!! Her dexterity was amazing and that allowed her to "color" any word or note she chose. She was so gifted and an extremely nice and warm person as well.
One of the most delightful scenes and songs in an utterly delightful movie... There‘s always something special about a tango - and about the adorable lady who was Kathryn Grayson... 🌹🌹🌹 Thank you for sharing this gem! 💎
Unbelievable voice, grace and beauty.. I have watched many of interviews, videos, song clips and I'm always amazed at the end of every song her beautiful smile that portrays a joy and pleasure of her very special talent..Rest in Peace beautiful lady.. I wonder if you knew how much joy you brought to so many people.
barich3353 Hello barich3353, I posted this and am so grateful to hear from you! Though I've still many clips with KG, there are many others that no longer exist. I agree; she brought, and continues to bring so much pleasure to so many people. Thanks again for writing! Best regards, varadero
varadero1839 Thank you so much for your kind reply and for your post of this clip. I wish I could have seen her perform live however I was only about 2 years old at the time..lol.. I have tried to find a fan club of hers but it seems to have been shut down only showing past activity of years ago. Also no information on her daughter, however I understand that she did act and sing as does her granddaughter. I will continue to search for as much information, songs, videos etc. as I can find. I was saddened to see on one site , a comment about Miss Grayson hating Mario Lanza and that he had to adjust his voice in order to accommodate her voice. I have seen an interview clip of Miss Grayson in which she did nothing but praise Mario Lanza and denied that towards the end his voice has become thin. Her response to that was "never" and that of all the singers she sang with Howard Keel and Mario Lanza could not be beat. She was a wonderful, gracious lady who genuinely enjoyed her career and her life. I could go on, but instead I will just say thank you again for your post. Best Regards, Rich Baris, Florida U.S.A.
barich3353 hi barich3353, Great to hear from you once again! I'm sure there must still be an active fan club for Ms. G! She's too wonderful to not have a still huge following. I know she had a daughter, but know very little about her and her career. Ms. Grayson was a "class-act!" As for her diminishing the talents of Mr. Lanza, and his supposed amorous advances, I don't believe any of it! I know that Howard Keel and Miss Grayson continued performing together for a number of years; they were still very much sought after. I can't remember how many clips I've uploaded with Miss Grayson; let's just say a bunch! I'm again delighted to hear from you, and hope we'll remain in touch! Best wishes, varadero/john
This is one of my favorite moments in Kathryn's career! It is from "Anchor's Aweigh" which also starred the magnificent Gene Kelly, looking on, and fabulous Frank Sinatra! They are supposed to be on little Olvera Street in Los Angeles, where the owner of a delightful spanish restaurant gives Kathryn lot's of exposure "singing for her supper" as she is trying for a musical career in the movies! LOVE IT AND HER! ~RIP dear Kathryn~. You brought us all such happiness!
Absolutely loved that woman who Howard Keel described as "the most beautiful woman" he "had ever known". Given the roles that MGM handed her, you would never know that she was, because of her operatic training, an accomplished actress. But, watch her eyes and her body language, especially whne she and Keel do the "Make Believe" duet.
After MGM abandoned musicals, these 2 continued performing together! I think they both had a successful continuation of their careers in concerts and club-dates! They were brilliant together. Thank you for writing! varadero
Louise Vilsgaard Hi Louise, Who could fault you for even a little bragging? Even to this day, this beautiful composition is one of the most frequently played, memorable, and beloved melodies ever written! You're right to be proud of your ancestor! Thank you! varadero
Louise Vilsgaard You have the right to brag! Lol.This piece is a perhaps one of the most memorable dance ( not only tango) music/ songs ever written all time! And once you hear it , you'll will not forget ! And sort of haunting effect this song has ! No wonder why it's been used in many movies & events ! A couple to mention...in the most memorable & crucial scenes in " murder at the Nile" ( Agatha Christie novel) & "Never say never ,again" 007 movie I highly recommend you to watch 'em if you haven't seen ! He was a genius! Very well expressed jealousy feelings in the tune! INCREDIBLE!
Kathryn Grayson, was incredibly talented and very beautiful, a classy and gifted nightingale. She was along with June Allyson, Judy Garland, Lena Horne,Jeanette MacDonald, Jane Powell, Deanna Durbin, Shirley Jones and Julie Andrews my favorite musical stars.
***** Unfortunately I've only clips from about 2/3 of all these wonderful performers. I hope you'll take some time to see a few of the others I've posted here. I'm really grateful, and honored to hear from you! Also, we have very similar tastes in beauty and musical/dance genius! Thank you so much! varadero

Thank you for the clip. Jealousy is one of my favorite numbers by Kathryn Grayson, who I adore, such a lovely woman and such a lovely voice, she was also very nice when I met her, after a performance with Howard Keel, so charming and gracious. We have so few classy ladies like her around today! Enjoying your channel a great deal.
Arthur Diggs Mr. Diggs, Thanks so much again for your kind words! One often hears about the temperamental actresses/actors of the past. I've many clips by Ms. Grayson and most posts stated as you did, that she was a very kind and gracious lady! Good to hear from you!
Right on time! She was a very young woman and smashingly pretty! I can't be too far off-base, having read the notice below this one. It tells of none other than Jerome Kern and his praises for Kathryn! That's pretty much "high-praise" indeed! Wouldn't you agree? Wonderful to hear from you, and my thanks!
Peter Farrar:- Kathryn Grayson has beauty, grace & a fantastic soprano voice, one of best In the film industry with Deanna Durbin. Deanna in my opinion was the number one. Kathryn Grayson's rendition of Jacob Garde's "Jealousy," was sublimely devine & addictive listening. Golden flamboyant & poetic words, in tribute to the beautiful 24 carat voice of Kathryn Grayson. Rest in peace in your heavenly accomadation, great musical super star. Digital tech will keep you with us forever & a day. Peter E. Farrar. Full stop.
Grayson, besides being a remarkable talent and beauty, was a strong lady. She would not put up with any bad treatment from a studio. There is a famous photo of all the M-G-M stars posed on one of the studio's anniversaries and there, with everyone dressed to the nines, is Grayson, fuming in a raincoat. She had not been told of the photo, was called at the last minute and told to get to M -G-M and she was ready to punch her bosses in their faces. She grew up in St. Louis, I think in Webster Groves. When would she would be in St. Louis to perform she kept touch with her old friends. She owes her extraordinary life to herself! She was focused, studied hard, set the highest standards for herself and embodied professionalism at its best.
High praise indeed from the likes of Jerome Kern! I think had Kathryn been about 20 in 1927, she'd have nailed the part of Magnolia. Norma Terris sang the original, and my favorite, Irene Dunne took it on the road around the US. Thanks so much for writing; I love Kathryn, and hope you'll look for more of her here on YT!
Thankyou once again for your kind reply. I'm with you, I don't believe the gossip either. Ms. Grayson was too classy and too humble of a lady to act in that manner. I've read where she said should couldn't write her auto-biography because it wouldn't be the juicy gossip people would want to read about. To quote her words " I happen to think people are pretty wonderful".. I will continue to search for an active fan club. If you should run across one I certainly would appreciate your input. I'm almost ashamed to say I am totally enthralled with this lady. Trying to purchase a autographed picture of her on ebay, but alway seem to be out bid..lol.. Eventually I will get one..again great to hear back from you, Rich Baris
@uhtheouh Hi uhtheouh! Glad to hear from you! Kathryn had a voice that is so inspirational. I'm glad you saw this and commented. The voice of the singer who portrayed "Snow White" is/was Adriana Caselotti. Sadly, she passed away in 1997. It's so easy to see why you thought that Ms. Grayson was "the voice!" Thanks once again for your having noticed this clip!
Dear Pierre Mreches, My thanks to you for your gracious comment! Your kindness is a kiss to both Ms. Grayson and superb composer Jakob Gade! Thank you so much for your message! varadero
