This is a great example of professional "singing into the mic". When you blast a note that is really loud and you want the volume and dynamics to stay consistent with everything else you're singing, you shift your mouth so that the microphone only picks up a percentage of your overall voice. The technical term is "dynamic compression", since you're basically doing the same thing as using a Compressor for your vocals, but without actually having the gear itself. It's a useful technique if you're playing on a sound stage with a weak sound system or a sound guy you don't trust, or at a radio station.....

@segguzi996 The sound techs and engineers definitely showed up to work this day! Huge fan. Hard to say it's my favorite but Christian was actually hitting notes and complimenting Stephen pretty well on this one...Love the guy but it's just not always the case.
the second time i saw them live they messed up the first bit of a song, and Stephen made a joke and started again, it was pretty funny (underwhelming comment i know, lol)

I'm not sure if he was sick or something, but it could be all of the 'shouting' in his songs, or just all of the strain, going between the high and low notes so much. Regardless, Anberlin is awesome.
