I admire this man heavily. One of my favorite actors and I thought it was a fitting end to his character on Homeland. Sad to see him go and I hope he gets another show.
One of the things that really blows me away about Homeland is how many actors in the show are British but do perfect American accents, for instance Damian Lewis of course but also the actors who play David Estes and Saul's wife Mira. I'm a bit of a stickler for actors and accents. I find a lot of European actors can't do American accents (ahem Gerard Butler), or even other accents (ahem Gerard Butler). It's difficult to do, but I think really good actors are able to completely BECOME their character, and accents are extremely important in that.
Just wanted to add that it goes both ways of course...the number of terrible British accents that American actors have done throughout filmic history.... Ughh *shudder*
"Say no more, gov'nor!" Haha good point! I do still love Dick Van Dyke, though. I remember watching an interview with him where he said he wished Julie Andrews, being an Englishwoman, had told him how horrible his accent was.
If I'm watching something or want to, and I ask someone to not ruin it then if they do that's called being rude. Even after a couple years. What if that's just when I heard about it? I don't need someone going "Oh that's a good movie but they shouldn't have done (blah blah blah)" That's not exactly information I needed to know anyway, so why say ruin it??? I don't understand peoples NEED to spoil.
The whole concept of “spoilers” is ridiculous. Plain and simple. Never in my life has a movie or a book or show been ruined because I already knew what happened. If anything it makes me want to see/read it even more to experience it myself now that I KNOW what to expect. Please people come on.
It's okay to spoil movies or shows because it's more about how it gets there than the actual twists themselves. Except for Fight Club, never EVER ruin that movie for ANYONE. It's so much better when they find out for themselves that the narrator and Tyler Durden are the same person..........OOPS!!!
You can't spoil a really good show because great shows aren't about what happens, they are about why and how things happen. Even when you know the ending, great shows are worth watching for the details. Why else would anybody watch anything more than once?
I loved him in Band of Brothers but I also enjoyed him in a show called Life from NBC. It was a cop drama and he was great in it. The writers strike doomed it though. Right now he is killing it in Billions on Showtime.
I'm watching Homeland right now and I'm trying so hard not to watch the spoilers :D So I'm now like "la la la don't talk about homeland" haha Love it so much! So it's not gonna take long to catch up :D
It is one of my favorite shows. Claire Danes is amazing. Damien Lewis continues to show the world how underrated he is by delivering a performance that a lot of great actors could not pull off.
Moriarty is revealed to be alive at the end of Sherlock season (series) 3. Rob Redford is secretly the villain in Captain America 2 (he let it slip in an interview) Bucky who supposedly died in the first Captain America movie is the Winter soldier.
Bucky is the Winter Soldier in Captain America 2 (caps partner who supposedly died in the first movie) and Robert Redford is secretly the villain. Oh sorry spoiler alert. I honestly love ruining movies for people before they come out I did it for all my friends who somehow didn't know that Talia was the villain in DKR and Khan was the villain in ST2 even though almost everyone knew months before the movie was even released.
" I honestly love ruining movies for people before they come out I did it for all my friends who[...]" "all my friends who[...]" "my friends" Yeah. I'm willing to bet you wont have many friends eventually.
daspoon456 A good half of my generation didn't even know who Captain America was until the movie came out, so don't count on that. They made the movie so it would be a plot twist to people who don't read the comics or any of that shit.
Silent Enigma no they didnt. They never wanted the winter soldiers identity to be secret, They went out of their way to reveal him in promotional material and even did a special on the character,
haha... my boyfrind got mad because I was talking to him about the True Blood books and he hasn't seen the last 3 seasons of the TV series. He got mad because he thought talking about the books (which have actually very little to do with the series) could spoil the TV series for him. But if you're 3 season late, you are not going to catch up because obviously you lost all interest!
Damian Lewis changed how he pronounces "film". I recall another interview (not sure if before this or after) where he pronounced it as "FIL-'m" and got "called out" by thr host for being a peculiar way to pronounce that word. Not sure if it was due to his regional British accent or what, but it did catch my ear. Here, he seems to pronounce it "normally", though.
Yea.. I think he mentioned it in an Homeland interview that he was (unintentionally) speaking in American accent during weekends. I must say his American accent is flawless and I was very surprised when I found out he's British. You should watch his interview on Graham Norton Show.
So, what am I going to do now? Watch Carrie sit in an office all day and Saul be on vacation for an entire season? If Brody is really dead then so is the show.
Very weird to watch this with Damian having that accent.... Watched him on Band of Brothers, Life (i LOVE Life) and Homeland so this is kinda weird....
I haven't seen a better performance in a long time than Damian Lewis in "Homeland". Im going to add a thing. Damian Lewis and Rupert Friend are both "British" and they both have absolutely excellent American accents. Season 1 to 3 were supreme. Season 4 and other were complete shiet.
I always thought he could be from some part of this world. But god I wondered where. He sure seemed and sounded like an american, but the aura he emits, couldn't put a finger on
He's not American? My entire life is a lie.
Nor is House or Rick.
Starlyn Tejada Bryan Cranston aka Watler White aka Heisenberg #BreakingBad
Starlyn Tejada what about Merryl?
Vexed Films Andrew Lincoln has the worst American accent I have ever heard. Whoever is shocked to learn he is foreign astounds me.
British can act more like Americans than Americans.
Very happy for his success...he's always been very talented while still somehow flying under the radar
Andy killed it with "but I'm a grown up"
"I've always loved my cocaine." hahahahahhahahahahahahahhahahaha I'll see myself out.
Great! lol
I admire this man heavily. One of my favorite actors and I thought it was a fitting end to his character on Homeland. Sad to see him go and I hope he gets another show.
I'm guilty of being a spoilerphobe. Damian is a great actor. I hope we see more of him.
Spoilerphobia is like not wanting to learn about WW2 because you know that the world isn’t under Nazi rule
Major Winters!
RIP. We salute you, Sir.
And he’s British damn he can change accents quick

You know that Rupert Friend who plays Peter Quinn is also British?
canuck21 Haha no, I didn't! Wow.
righteousgroove The worst British accent done by an American? It HAS to be Dick Van Dyke's in "Mary Poppins". The grandaddy of them all!
"Say no more, gov'nor!" Haha good point! I do still love Dick Van Dyke, though. I remember watching an interview with him where he said he wished Julie Andrews, being an Englishwoman, had told him how horrible his accent was.
Captain Winters!
goddamned right...band of brothers was great
never knew he was british(the actor not the soldier)
*Major Winters

***** That's fine, I just care if I have already asked someone not to spoil it for me. I know people that do that and it really annoys me.

"If you can tell me the Russian for "apply your own bloody suntan lotion."
it took me 1 minute into the clip to realize his British accent..
A meeting of two glorious gingers :)
Omg I fucking love andy hahahahah "but im a grown up" too good haha

ShadowCrowX haa haa well played
I love Andy. =)
Brilliant actor. He's amazing in Band of Brothers
Both Damien Lewis and Andrew Lincoln's American accents are absolutely Top Notch!
I wonder if this was before he met Jennifer Lawerence when she had her freak out about getting Homeland spoiled.. right in front of him.
why is he wearing pink socks? he's US sergeant
+Edgy Mackenkie hell hes even a Major if you go back abit :D
OHHHHHH Homeland. I miss you so. Can't wait to see what 'crazy eyes' Carey does next season :)
"I've got the sunscreen just for you young man" LOOL
It's hard to hear him with a British accent after band of brothers.
Great movie
and that’s facts
So this is Hugh Laurie's stunt double?
Ghost81 never see it , a ginger version
All I see is Major Richard Winters.
LT. WINTERS!
Major Winters ;-)

#longlivecaptainwinters
And all this time I thought he was north american, as I have only seen him in Band of Brothers.
me too !!! And I always kind of thought that he looked like an American too. So it's really strange hearing him with the british accent and all
Watch Dreamcatcher. You can hear him do both and Amercian and a British accent in that one and it is amazing.
I loved him in Band of Brothers but I also enjoyed him in a show called Life from NBC. It was a cop drama and he was great in it. The writers strike doomed it though. Right now he is killing it in Billions on Showtime.
Don't blink... Oh, David Tennant XD
wow.. really didn't expect this accent all of a sudden..
the weeping angels are coming. don't even blink!
I always found it funny how British actors are always so good at playing Americans.
Alot of British actors are trained in the classics like Shakespeare. Damian Lewis is one of them.
Best actor of his generation, and KEANE is an acting masterclass, thanks man
I know it has been 8 years, but that is such a good shout out that you deserve respect. I hope by now your tears have dried up.
God. I have such a HUGE crush on Damian
I'm watching Homeland right now and I'm trying so hard not to watch the spoilers :D So I'm now like "la la la don't talk about homeland" haha
Love it so much! So it's not gonna take long to catch up :D

Oh Andy, I like your logic and reasoning.
Moriarty is revealed to be alive at the end of Sherlock season (series) 3.
Rob Redford is secretly the villain in Captain America 2 (he let it slip in an interview)
Bucky who supposedly died in the first Captain America movie is the Winter soldier.
Come one!!!
...you can do better than that :)
Every person who knows the comics knows that Bucky is the Winter Soldier. Try harder, kid.
Dude, what are you trying to do? Just getting people angry because Conan said it's okay? You're weird man.
and you are adapted , ask your mom
Damian Lewis needs to do a MIchael Caine off with Rob Brydon and Steve Coogan.
Soylent Green is people!!!
Bruce Willis was dead the whole time.
yeah, thats why its called Die Hard
Actually, I was referring to the sixth sense.
splewy Wow, stoopied guy
😂😂😂😂😂
WHOA!! Just caught up with all 4 seasons (minus the last episode) weird hearing him talk with an accent.
oh god as soon as they mentioned blinking I became painfully aware of every time I blinked for the rest of the video
이 두사람..
사랑스럽네요
특히 데미안 루이스는 그를 안지 몇달 인되었지만 사랑합니다
in a good way he's kinda like a British version of the nicholas cage :D
Best actor on Billions. Totally nails it
I really like this guy. I like him even more because he agrees that spoilerphobes are bunch of spoiled immature sods, taking stuffs too seriously.
Being an extreme spoilerphobe is unnecessary but spoiling things to make people angry is asinine and far more childish.
Calling people spoiled and immature so that you feel superior to others? oh please all it does is to show how you have no respect for others 0.0
I loved Damian's character in the movie Dreamcatcher. That is an awesome movie, IMO.
Bucky is the Winter Soldier in Captain America 2 (caps partner who supposedly died in the first movie) and Robert Redford is secretly the villain. Oh sorry spoiler alert. Listening to him talk here blows my mind. His ability to remove his accent and do homeland is impeccable
I always will see this guy only as Band Of Brothers main role.
He's looks like a ginger Michael Keaton
He did very great job in B.O.B.
I guess i'm the only guy loving him for Charlie Crews
Whoa my boy is British? After years of watching Band of Brothers I didn't expect that
I'm not watching this, because there might be spoilers.
LALALALALALLALL I'M NOT CAUGHT UP.
damian lewis is the whitest....the "red headed albino" from band of brothers
I hate spoilers, because they spoil things.
I love Brody.
he sounds like my doctor
Tough crowd!
You're better looking than Clooney!
The only thing I seen with this guy in it, was Band of Brothers. Sounds better as an American LOL
THANK YOU. PEOPLE ARE WAYYY TOO SENSITIVE ABOUT SPOILERS, ESPECIALLY IF IT;S BEEN A LONG TIME.
Lt. Colonel Winters!
Why do we have to wait SOOOOO long for next season of Homeland :(
Damian lewis is amazing I'm gonna miss him
WHAT A TWIST!
I only recognized him from Dreamcatchers
Love him as major Winters.

I think he rather tone-down his British accent here. I just watched his interview in Graham Norton show and his accent is totally different.

He will always be Soames Forsyte to me
On my list of hot gingers: Damian Lewis
Everything on him except the black suit is either red or pink! Even his eyes look bloodshot. xD
I love this guy! I can't stand spoilers as well xD
So, what am I going to do now? Watch Carrie sit in an office all day and Saul be on vacation for an entire season? If Brody is really dead then so is the show.
major winters!!!
I wonder how he felt about the show being spoiled for Jennifer Lawrence in front of him.
smart and intense
I did not know that Cap't Winters is a british man
I really wanna know about that sunscreen now!
