~ Only you, David ... could make a video and make us snigger at "the arse end of Lord Hereford's nob " ... well done & long may all your journeys continue!
Another great video. Very enjoyable, I think this channel is as enjoyable as CruisingTheCut. You are very talented, much better than I can see on TV. Thanks for your hard work.
I did have to laugh, David. Two videos ago you say I am not going to video roads, their roads. Then two videos later your videoing roads, very pretty though they are, it did make me have a little chuckle.😂
Another voice but from the west coast of America; you are just as comforting, enjoyable and funny as on your water channel. Thanks for all your beautiful vlogs.
My wife and I were in the UK in 2016, just by chance we went to the llanthony priory. When I saw you heading in that direction I was hoping you would visit it. I have almost the exact same video inside the stairwell. What a great memory. Thank you for the video it made my day.
Interesting seeing Wales from ground level. About 5 years ago my ex and I made a documentary about slate quarries in Wales and the folks that came to the NE section of Pennsylvania to work the quarries here. Called "From The Earth". They settled in 3 tiny towns. One of the men we interviewed was 96 yo at time. He and others have many stories to tell. There's even a Slate Belt museum in Bangor
As kids we used to go to Wales most years. I'm sure my late Dad would have laughed his head off when, in later life, I discovered they weren't really foreign holidays. But loved it down there then and still do. He retired to a little village called Gladestry, Kington/Hereford neck of the woods, where he lived at the bottom of Hergest Ridge. He would walk his dog up there twice a day even into his 90's. The 45 degree trek nearly killed me, but the view is spectacular. I never thought to take a camera up there. Doubt it would have done it justice...
@@Vandemonium Another time we woke up to see a herd of Bison on the hill opposite the campsite. I concluded we had driven to America overnight. Turned out it was Whipsnade Zoo... About 25 miles from home.
Love the David attenbouough impression. Hope you get some renumeration from the tourist board for this, this was good! Makes me want to come, although I am just as out of shape as you!
This is a wonderful look at the country side of Wales!!! Thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you so much. It was nice to have this to watch after 7 ( or is it 8) weeks of sheltering at home. Thank you!!! I have watched every episode of Cruising the Cut....
Thanks for the nostalgic trip down narrow lanes. it brought back memories of the time before last that I came home to Cornwall with my as it was then girl friend . We had come over from the USA,and out of thought for her(she's was as tall as I) I let her sit in front with my sister. Well my sister has always had a lead foot, so we were belting around these narrow lanes meeting on coming tractors cars and even a articulated lorry. Well I could not see her face. But apon getting to our destination I quickly found out about her ride. I shall leave it at she never rode in the front again and it always looked like she was asleep in the back. Thanks for the vlog David I look forward to your next. cheers
Back in the late 1970s we would visit my grandparents in Hay-on-Wye and I clearly remember many trips up to Hay Bluff for picnics. Being the youngest (and smallest) I always went up in the very back of my grandfather's Morris Minor Traveller (woody estate), sat on a cushion with my sister sat next to me. No such thing as seat belts and child seats back then, of course. I often wonder how the hell I ever made it out of childhood 😂 If you thought the climb up Cockitt Hill was steep, you should have tried Hay Bluff. It's almost vertical for the last third of the climb, and is an absolute killer.
Despite the misty weather you have managed to capture some magical views. That is why I "visit" the Uk. I just don't know if the conjures of the landscapes can be as breathtaking as the UK! The stark contrast of the crumbling ruins and the green grass is stunning. The dead among the living!
You are hilarious in this video, really hitting your stride. Beautiful scenery, a fun adventure, thanks for taking us along. Beats Sir David Attenborough every time!
Hi , you need to visit the lakes district it’s stunning ! Lake ullswater and genridding stunning ! It’s our place to get away from general life , but having two Siamese cats one who’s 21 and diabetic we can’t visit any longer , as he needs us , buts it’s ok he’s an old man now and won’t take to anyone else ! With our first Siamese she went travelling with us and cheerfully sat beside us and watch the scenery, but he’s very different he just wants to stay home in comfort ! I can’t blame him ! Great video ! Liz
Brilliant, David! I love your sense of humour and feel, as you did, they might discover your desiccated bones one fine summer day and wonder what happened. Drive safely, my friend. John, Ontario, Canada
Finally. A vlogger who knows how to properly pan a camera. Well done David. Beautiful countryside. I thought we had some narrow country roads in Missouri, USA. but those roads you were on give a new meaning too the word "narrow". Thanks for another great video.
Just came over from Cruising the Cut and did a marathon viewing of all Vandemonium blogs since snow and ice kept me trapped in for 36 hours. It was worth loosing a bit of sleep over. You have an adventurous spirit, definitely not afraid of a challenge, and are quite handy. On this trip, the road between Hay-on-Wye and Cardiff for us was one of the most enjoyable. The scenery, wildlife, and peace of the countryside had us taking twice as long as we thought to make the journey. It was wonderful! This vlog also brought back wonderful memories of our 2018 May/June month long Wales and Scotland trip. I just love driving on the narrow roads. I know that likely sounds crazy to most but it slows one down and there's something comforting in the manner laybys bring out the communal side of our human existence. As you were driving, @ 10:04 in the vlog, a small chapel comes into view on the left and a phone booth on the right. This is an ever so darling rural chapel you would have enjoyed a stop at. An old grave yard and ancient yew trees frame the chapel. The phone booth was active and the wall contained a post box still in use. All this in the middle of seemingly nowhere. This was our second trip across the pond to the British Isles and hopefully not our last. I'll continue to follow Cruising the Cut and who knows I may track you down on our next UK visit. Thanks ever so much for your vlogs.
Nah, that's just all the cities. Most of the UK is actually not built upon and in many parts is stunning rolling landscapes! See also my narrowboat channel, CruisingTheCut, for more spectacular landscapes, by boat!
@@Vandemonium I think I've seen every post on CruisingTheCut! Excellent job! Beautiful country as well. Perhaps my impression is wrong but what you showed here reminds me more of the country I love in America. I live just into the mountains of Colorado but the land I really love is the high desert of the south western US where you can see a million miles and there is very little if any mark of man to be seen. I love the wide open spaces. Thanks for all your videos.
You had me huffing and puffing and laughing! Nice video. I was stationed at RAF Mildenhall in the 1980s. This video reminds me how much I miss Britain. Keep 'em comming.

Thank you for that.
David, you have nailed it! Great narration and filming. It’s wonderful to see the wilder parts of Wales. Truly magnificent. The David Attenborough section was actually spot on and such a hoot. You’re quite good! And , I’ve always wanted to sneak a peak at Lord Hereford’s knob . Thank you, you have made this 23 f degree morning in northern Pennsylvania a little more bearable.
