Just found your channel tbe other day and watched your podcast with Phil champion, now this one and I’ve already seen so many others I want to watch, love how you ask and then give the person time to answer without cutting in on them , I also admire how for example in this interview you showed your emotions and were obviously wanting to cry at one point , some presenters would cut that out but I love that you keep it real and as much as a lot of these ppl have changed and it’s inspiring it’s also inspiring imo for younger ppl especially young men to realise yeah this presenter wanted to cry , that’s ok , infact it’s normal , there’s nothing wrong with a man crying bcos he’s lost a friend or hearing about abuse etc , infact it’s way better than bottling it up and looking for revenge.
* Edit* The comment at the bottom was my original comment , if you read it, I explain why I’ve left it like this instead of just deleting it and writing as if I knew everything lol, I know it doesn’t mean much but I just feel in general these days we all just delete stuff and rewrite it as if we knew everything and are always right .
If truth be told , I looked up google and seen I was totally wrong lol , my apologies, no idea why I thought armed forces but I see the first video on the channel is your story so that’s my next watch , just from reading a short article I can already see you have a very unique and special business mind .
My original comment - Is there a video out there about your past? This is terrible but I only found your channel recently as I said but I’ve seen you before on stuff , for some reasons I want to say you were in the armed forces ? Can someone correct me if I’m wrong , I kkow Dodge might not have the time to but where is it I know him from ?
@@COYBIG1967Kind words mate 🙏
Love the channel Dodge many thanks for your work 🔥❤️
To all the viewers I appreciate all your views, comments and love. This was by far my hardest interview and I've not been the same since reliving what did with Dodge. Dodge is something else & this interview was in the making for a while & we got it done in the end. He had goosebumps if truth been known. Thanks DW
Stay positive big man.... respect, rest of your life ahead of you... 👊
Stay positive mate
Iv got to admire your honesty, a proper real one, not glorified anything and humble with it, wish you luck all the best
Big man stay positive real OG
im sure i was in stoke heath back in 96 onwards , c.c when jail was jail lying on a metal bed allll day !!on your towel , you prob remember that kid in the cooking class that was killed for not giving some one some of his birthday cake , ,
Well done Darryl for opening up. Manchester was a dangerous place back in the day.
Quickly becoming the Number 1 podcast for real content, this stuff is needed. Thanks Dodge and all your incredible guests.
Dodge is definitely my favorite interviewer, such a patient style makes it really easy to listen to.
The Love for his Mom knows no bounds, I can relate to that even though I never met mine.
Thanks for the Compassion Dodge, your Ethical and that’s why your number one interviewer and hope to meet in the future when I am ready. 😊
His mum Joan went with me in the ambulance when I got shot🙏🏽🙏🏽 she was an amazing woman 💯
Incredibly powerful, one of the best ive seen across all channels, best of luck Darryl, god bless. Keep up the great work Dodge !
Top kid
There isn't a more powerful message for the youngsters of today. Yes, this man has survived so so much and has one hell of a story, but look at the pain he is left with. I hope he will continue to pave the way and if anyone can help reduce gang and knife crimes, its Darryl.
Been lucky enough to meet Darryl through his work with at risk youngsters. Can honestly say he’s the most inspirational and genuine men I’ve met! Keep doing what you do Darryl…you’re making a difference❤️
Thanks
I’ve seen a few of Darryl’s long podcasts and this is the best time one. He’s so captivating but Dodge’s interview technique has made this such an amazing interview. Don’t think many people could turn their life around like Darryl has. Well done mate.
That was a compelling interview Dodge. I hope D gets the help needed. The guy is battling with it right now. I wish him peace and light. You too Dodge.
Powerful episode and brilliant podcasting again Dodge, very compassionate and a very valuable listen for young and older people alike.
Good man Rey 💪🏼
This was a tough watch - and big respect to Darryl for doing this. I was never involved in this life, but as someone who also grew up in the Hulme Crescents and then Moss Side, I knew many that were, including some who never made it through those times. It was a rough, dark time which devastated our community - breaking the cycle and changing your life is one of the most difficult things to do, so fair play.
You do it right Sir. Best interviewer by far in terms of prompts, questions and time spent in silence.
Appreciate your message Nick 🙏
I met Darryl about 10 years ago on an entrepreneurial course in Liverpool. He was banned from Manchester at the time.. I bumped into him a few months after at a train station. Stand up guy. Pray all the best for his future. Great interview Dodge did a great job! 🙏 God bless
What a brave man too come clean after the life he's had. Big Respect. Great interview Dodger.
Thank-you Dodge, this was deep. I've heard Darryl's life story before but not in this much detail. It's your questions that make the difference Dodge, with care and attention. Hope things get a lot better for Darryl in the future.
The more I hear stories of all these ex criminals it’s so sad how nearly all of them have had majorly traumatic childhoods
Ex criminals. Kind Regards Darryl Laycock
@@TheDeeWing do apologise mate , ex criminals ! Keep going mate your doing amazing work
Nobody goes this way with love and nurture trust me failed children that's all we are
This might just be the best podcast I've ever watched. So powerful. The message at the end, about how no ones chipping in the 7 grand it cost to bury you. About the people who will pay to hurt you in jail and film it. The idea of mandatory 5 year sentencing for carrying knives. That’s powerful. That's the fucking truth. Thank you.
Great interview Darryl 👏🏽👏🏽👊🏽👊🏽 you are doing an amazing job spreading your truth mate. Its so hard but brave of you to tell your story and relive your past. The pain you carry, will hopefully ease once you settle into these counselling sessions. I am sorry I missed your talk again last night in the unity 🫣🫣 keep getting my days mixed up 😔😒
Thanks Kelly 🙏🏾💛👑💛🙏🏾
Really enjoying the podcast bud. It's crazy listening to the stories of when you had different jails popping, I've done a few of the same shovels back in 90s n 2000s, u could live nice back then. Times have definitely changed. Big up yourself Darryl, you've come a long way 💪 🙌 💯. Keepin it real.
that message right at the end was intense this was the best interview ever. hope darryl find peace god bless him and dodge you"re channel is amazing
Good man John 👍🏼👍🏼
Dodge my guy i swear your questions are absolutely spot on , i love the way you pause and let a man speak. Darren mate i can see that pain in your eyes, keep on helping the youth ❤
Darryl

@@TheDeeWing sorry I was half way down a bottle of brandy 👀
Made me cry this. I've watched 2 or 3 of Darryl's interviews. This is a strong man. I hope he has or can get peace of mind. Respect dude. Its not my place to say but your Mom would be super happy the way your life is now dude. Stay strong .
Very enlightening. Thank you. Brilliant probing, and questions, from you, AGAIN 🤩
Brilliant episode Dodge! Love listening to real stories from real people, it's very powerful. I look forward to seeing what else comes up in the future on your channel!
I can’t lie I cried watching this and I hardly ever cry, I really felt this guy
Another excellent interview Dodge . I can honestly say now that you have become my number 1 podcast for interviews . When it’s someone who I have seen before I love the way you always bring something new to your interviews. I’ve never seen this guy before but it’s been an amazing interview and so powerful. Keep doing what you’re doing mate and I wish you all the luck and success for the future. All the best mate.
What a lovely message Neil and it’s massively appreciated.
We put in a lot of hard graft to bring everyone really good content each week.
Good man 👍🏼👍🏼
Watch delinquent nation much better
I can testify his mum was like that community aunty that turned no one away. She was good to us all. We need to become communities again and look out for each other. Money and material things does not equal happiness. Love and contentment and good people around does

Top work as always dodge .this one was emotional.so glad Darrel i still soldiering on .
❤ wow what an interview. You can see and feel his pain! May his soul find peace xx
@dodge - Very well handled! 8:42 good interview skills!
Darryl is amazing and I'm in awe at his work with the young ones. His healing journey is inspiring and proud to call him a friend ❤
Wooow this really touch me and a powerful podcast this is , I feel his pain and can relate, big ups Darryl keep strong bro you got this
Love Wednesday's. Always good entertainment.
I think you’ll this one Andy 👀🔥
Agreed! Wednesday latest dodge podcast is highlight of the week. Don’t think you’ll ever top Dave Courtney as a guest though... RIP.
No matter how he comes across now, this guy was a serious wrong'un. When people say "to be honest with you" it's generally a red flag and this is no exception. Great interview though and I wish him well undoing some of the damage. Captivating stuff.
💯🤍 love this, one of my most genuine and respectful friends 👌🏼💚
Wow, I can vouch for Daryl when it comes to the police on that that estate used to pick young people up they suspected of being in other gangs and dropping them on the other side, which for them was enemy territory.
As a direct consequence someone got shot and thankfully survived, however its something everyone can clearly see and the victim has to live with everyday of their life.
Thanks again Daryl for sharing your story and pain it will help so many people.
stay strong bro.
I don't usually comment but you have to be the best podcaster out there. You are a great listener and ask the right questions. When Darell started to get emotional, I see you chocked up to. I could see you felt his pain. And one last thing I could see the pain in Darells eyes when he spoke about his mum, he is a great talker and has a very good message for the youth. I would like to say thanks you both for one of the best podcasts I have ever seen if not the best.
Much appreciated 👍🏼👍🏼
Seen this guy before. No nonsense, pulls no punches about that lifestyle he was involved in. Nothing fake or over glamourising things. Fair play to him
Hi Darryl I don't know you but I am a fellow Manchester person and working within the security industry myself I must say I have watched your documentary and its been a big eye opener with how open you have been and I wish you the best of luck with everything and I hope you get everything sorted pal
You do some great interviews Dodge. You have a way of extracting this information from your interviewees. Thumbs up.
Awww it’s refreshing to see- trust me this guy you are here is a total turnaround from his past- hats off Darryll lad 🫡❤️
Massive love to this guy and well done dodge, composed really well mate ❤️
Great listen and insight to this man's life. I was aware of how bad Moss Side was back in the day, hopefully it's a much safer place to be now
Big shout Daryl from Sydney Australia 🇦🇺 u a surviour brother ,good interview dodge always killing it bro
Respect Dodge...great interview as well! Best podcast out there👊🏽👌

Powerful podcast
Nothing but respect and love ❤️ for Darryl 💯
Deep, kids need to listen. Nothing like the truth and the pain in his eyes to show you it's not worth it. Brave man, keeping going Darrel spread the word and keep strong pal. We can see your pain.
Dodge, keep in touch with this chap please. That pain in his eyes need healing, I sure you can help him trough his tough times.
So much respect Darryl . Mid September my own mom passed and already i dont know what direction to look. I have already tried to self harm a few times but Listening to you has helped me alot today. I feel your pain ( in your loss of your mom ) . Your an inspiration Darryl
Stay strong dude, it does get better with time, dont look for a permanent solution to a temporary problem my friend as there is help out there!
Very inspirational and educational. Keep up good work…
I Know Darryl well from back in the day and I can say he’s the real deal. Serious guy with a big heart. Soldier 🔥💯⭐️🙏
I relate to this more than I should I seen things as a teenager up Sheffield no adult should see never mind a child..I lost my best mate through drugs, and decided enuff was enough. I was looking at prison pack your bag court.... I'm now happy away from that two kids one 16 going on 21. One 7. Both great kids my other half has made me the person I am today. Ppl can change. Life being the big thing isnt the way, dad re married they had kids had it all, my mum did her best being single with us 3. Life is for living. This guy tells the truth for many youngers out there.
Give it a rest
Gotta be one of the best podcasters on TH-cam period facts 💯
Kind words Ty 🙏
Just pressed play & watched the intro & this looks like another banger. Many thanks too u both 😎😎👊👍👌👌✌✌
Another GREAT podcast Dodge 👏
I absolutely adore Darryl and can only applaud him for how he’s turned his life around now. True inspiration 👏🏽👏🏽❤️
Love you ❤❤
Hi Dodge, another great pod cast, you can see this guy is carrying a lot on his shoulders, a lot of the people you have on have a simlar up bringing, just go different ways, feel for him, good luck in your life
Thanks for what you do darrel. Thank you dodge
My pleasure 👍🏼👍🏼
Remember the bullring in Hulme, used to go to The Nile, Reno club ...... good times 😅
Child abuse has a lot to answer for. It ruins lives!
It certainly does . I’ve been through it and it took me many years to stop blaming myself . I’m nothing tho really, just a guy but to see this big hulk of a guy who was very dangerous break down and talks about it is sad and hurts but it’s also so amazing bcos there’s ppl he will get through too. If one young black man who’s suffered similar feels he can admit it and get help then that’s amazing and a great start
Have been enjoying your podcast, good stuff. Saludos de Panamá 🇵🇦
Powerful and emotional podcast dodge. I cant help but feel, the pain he was feeling was inflicted on dozens of families in and around his area, at HIS hands. I cant feel sorry for him. Just cos he's changed doesnt mean he should be forgiven or felt sorry for. I just hope he can change the kids minds and stop them turning to knives, guns, drugs and crime.
Great podcast easily the best one I’ve seen
The best podcast very emotional when he got upset you did to dodge what a good man you are the best at what you do
God bless you Darryl lad, and may your mum rest in peace.
It's obvious you're not a bad person at heart,
you've lived through a bad situation that our government helped create, through a lack of opportunity in the North,
the guilt isn't all yours, and hopefully this new counselor help you understand that.
What a guy not easy to turn your life around when you have had so much trauma wishing you a peaceful remainder of your life you are a warrior you can't change your past but you can hopefully create a positive future great podcast Dodge
Nice one Helen 👍🏼👍🏼
Great podcast excellent story great to see how you gave Darryl time when he was explaining upsetting stuff and difficult things could see you were moved by some of the stuff I know I was . Great content Dodge and you’ve done it again smashed it ps when are you gonna start selling T-Shirts with “Let’s roll all the way Back “ on em #topman
Big up Darryl, if anyone can understand the youth and make a change it's you brother, your mother would be so proud how you changed ❤
THOS PODCAST WAS SO MOVING.
Tough interview mate. I could understand very hard to connect. I grew up in NZ. We have a brutal underbelly of violence too.
Thank you for sharing so honestly Daryll, you are helping more people than you probably think being real like this.
Well done Dodge, the podcast has come a long way mate we all appreciate the time you are putting in ❤
That means a lot Nathan.
Thanks 🙏
"Communication is key"
Too true.
Good one Dodge.
.....
Five n half years of van life has come to an end. This Yorkshireman is now a Jock.
Spent enough time and money here over the last 35 years, so it's about time.
Little village in the rural outside Glasgow 🏴👊
I bet some of the younger folk thought the saying no blacks no dogs no Irish is something made up or exaggerated but no , that was a sign placed at many work places sadly
Well done that man, Darryl 💪🏾💪🏾 & a great podcast Dodge......
Good work Gents both of you really powerful content
Wow another 🔥 podcast man 💪🏻
Darryl hey bro hope ya ok my mate was with u on 5 lanings on walton, keep strong bro your a good person x
Proper this can tell in first 15 mins respect to both
I know this episode says it all very powerful testimony 😮😮😮
ive watched all Darryl's podcasts this man is brilliant if hes at your schools kids listen up freedom is key enjoy your lifes dont through it away. great podcast ❤
Dodge or James English podcast both quality podcasts keep them both coming! Dodge can u try get mark Williams Thomas on or peter faulding on 😎
Good luck for your future Daryl. Wish you all the best. Very evident that childhood nurture creates the life you'll lead. My daughters were abused by their mother for years. Only found out the full truth when they got away from her. I fear for how it will affect their future.
Brilliant pod dodge
Dude Darryl really appears like he has remorse, also dude looks like he’s still emotionally hurting for whatever reasons.
Powerful stuff dodge.
Yeah a very powerful episode this one 🙏
@DodgeWoodall all your atuff is sound mate. Daves Courtney rip interview was great when you watch it now its very poignant.
Keep up the good work dodge.
Another belta dodge. Hope this man finds peace. Respect
VERY VERY POWERFUL 💯
Hi Dodge great stuff Sam Moore 😊
Great interview.
Hey dodge, just an idea: would you ever put time stamps on the videos?
Great work. Dodge keep it up lol.
Let me tell you about Darryl Laycock.. I went to h.m.p lindholme in Doncaster in 1995. And I was in the holding cells in h.m.p armley. And a bwoy said Darryl's in lindholme cos he's on a cross over. I went moorlands from hmp armley to moorlands then lindohlme. I went in there scared honestly. Got my stuff going over to the jail and bang who do I see Darryl. The man said stef yah cool and I said yeh..bro I went to my cell and come back out cos he said bring you pillow case. He took the pillow case and when he come back. Damm it had tuna and eggs weetbix and chines noodles and spices herbs pepper and cheese.when I went to my cell and put the stuff in there the screw come in and said Mr gaye it didn't take you long to get on your feet did it haha Darryl respect me bro. And you know and I know. Love mad respect POW 💚💛❤️
.😂
Baring your soul like this takes real bravery.
I spent a few years living in Hulme, not during the bullring days but from 93-99. He’s quite right, loads of Irish & black people living side by side. Good people, but hard people.
My gran used to drink in the bars in Hulme and Moss Side & was a well known character round there.
Just goes to show there are real men and good minds behind all this gang BS. If only they knew at the time.
i feel his pain about grief
Deep interview what an interesting man who has been through alot
Powerful watch
