I too served in Bosnia and agree about it.
Never met this bloke, sounds so genuine, can imagine he was quality if you were on his side, a nightmare if you weren’t.
Love the positivity from his childhood adversities, that’s a real person, not the ones that blame their futures and limitations on their perceptions of theirs and others pasts. This was a pleasure and a journey that got tied up perfectly. If this guys got ya, you’ll be alright🫡🇬🇧
I remember very clearly my first time on the London underground at midnight, on the way to basic training.
The scary thing is what he said about Bosnia is how communities, neighbours a friends turn into monsters and do horrendous things to each other when they divide into their ‘own religion’ ‘own kinsman’ etc etc. that’s the thing that has always stuck with me, and now we have people here with many different callings and loyalties🤔

Those rules, manners, and morals are lost deep into the wilderness of bullshit now. I'm 42 and my grandad would clip me round the ear if I forgot anything, like taking my baseball cap off if a hurse passed us by, taking my cap off when I walked into his house, please and thank yous were just some of the basics drilled into me. Always let the lady walk on the inside of the path away from the road and little things like that. It is lost because I had to ask a kid who was at school travelling home on the train to move because he decided that he'd lay back with his legs blocking the entire hallway. That brain dead and full of himself that he thought it was OK to sit there knowing people couldn't get past. Also on a video call on speaker phone to add to his prickishness. I'm not a royalist, but if ever the national anthem was played at the theatre and I wasn't on my feet within seconds he giant hands would pinch me on my arm to make a point. None of that did any harm. Look at your kid in tje wrong way now you're a bad parent.

Very complicated politics surrounding the bush wars. Shameful times for the west, and sad for everyone in the end. To hear their account of the battle between them and the Salford gangsters.. ultimately resulting in many London doorman stabbed, glassed and battered and eventually being run out of town. If you've read Howard Marks' first book, then you'll know what I'm talking about and the connection. I've read books that have said that some of the bombs and IEDs found in the Middle East have been similar and, in some cases, copies of what the IRA made years ago. With IED's being more popular, there was enough to show that there was a connection, and referring to my first comment, that's where they got their AK's from. Putting some of the connections together is actually quite insane.
