@@kimmiecrackcorn I don't allow ads in the middle of my tracks! TH-cam switched it on automatically so I have to go through each track individually and switch them off... really annoying, but trust me, I will switch off mid-roll ads on every track I catch with them

Blues scales to use on a 1 4 5 12 bar. If you do it right and mix it up tight it will sound far out...
E7 : Emin Pent. Emaj Pent. E mixolydian, Half-whole tone scale & blend them all together
A7 : Emin Pent, Amaj Pent. A mixolydian, A lydian dominant & blend them all together
B7 : Emin Pent, Bmaj Pent. B mixolydian, B lydian dominant & blend them all together
Or, you could just play what sounds good and forget the technicalities just as all the great blues men did.
Thanks for sharing... been doing as JP says but you have to get new ideas or it all sounds the same.
J P when you know the modes you can use them as tools to evoke whatever you want and when you want to. The blues legends may not have known the mode names but you can bet your ass they knew what notes to play on what chords in a certain progression.
Bflatest playing both Emaj/minor pentatonic I can get the E Dorian scale, am I technically playing E Dorian? Or just because it’s a mixture of E maj/minor pentatonics.
I don't have any where close to your talent so I really like how you give us a little example at the beginning of the jam track to get me going in the right direction! 😎🎸

You cats who post these nice cleanly played blues playalongs on youtube, KUDOS!!!! I am more of a jazz/bebop guitarist at heart, but also love to try to lay out some simple soulful straight blues sometimes but rarely get the chance to do so live with other players. Hours of fun! :-)
Charles Duckett Jr. Yeah .. I played right along with them. Had my headphones on and just my nylon guitar. I It really sounds good. I run jazz runs over this. Gives a nice sound. I totally believe in backing tracks.. they can tighten a band up.

how would you play double stops over this? I've been studying Dom7 arpeggios but that doesn't seem like the key.

Great stuff. Just an observation - I really enjoyed alongside you at the beginning, not so much with just the bass and drums. As a harp player, I wish you had kept playing guitar through the whole piece, doing fills, turnarounds and accents. It might be different for guitarists. Harp players (especially only-okay ones like myself) sound best when the guitarist keeps contributing licks throughout as a counterpoint. Whenever I go to a jam, the guitarists 1) only want me to play solos and 2) stop playing entirely during my solo. It can feel like you are out on an island by yourself. If you listen to the first Muddy Waters band, Waters and Rogers never stop playing behind Little Walter - it's a polyphony. I need the guitarist(s) to keep going or it sounds boring when I play harp by myself.

I agree, to a point... guitarists look for Norton Buffalo, I play more like Mickey Hart, aspire to Stevey Wonder...raised on Jerry Murad & Harmonicats. It is nice to have a lead to play around with but not when it becomes a competition between guitar and a 10 hole diatonic. I supposee it depends a lot on 'style'...
