  • Justin Townes Earle is equal parts storyteller and singer. For his 5th and 6th albums ‘Single Mothers’ and ‘Absent Fathers’ he focused on his own story.
Justin was raised by his mother after his father, Steve Earle, left when he was two years old. Justin grew up in Nashville and his influence was more due to his surroundings than to the work of his famous father.
In 2015 he told his story to Paul Cashmere at Noise11.com.

This is one of the best JTE interviews I’ve heard. He was as incisive and insightful as ever, and the interviewer asked some great questions. RIP JTE, he was one of the greatest.

A tremendous talent lost way too soon. RIP, JTE

An absolutely great songwriter with a cool, original style. Lived and died his own way.

“Music was better when ugly peoples were allowed to make it.” Can’t remember who’s quote that is but so true. Music was much better before being visually appealing was a part of the gig.

What a treat this was to stumble across, seen all the other interviews so it was nice to find one I hadn't seen. The interviewer did a great job with respectful questions and not talking over the top. I was at the show in Brisbane 2014 when Marlon Williams and Lindi Ortega opened for him. Thanks for the songs JTE, gone too soon.

agreed, this is one of the best interviews of Justin I've seen...
The one with Q is another standout
I really like hearing about his thoughts on contemporary country/americana, and what he thought was wrong/missing about it. Really interesting b/c we all know how talented he was
