Hunting my Front Yard with the Garrett Ace 400

Sunday afternoon I went out to my front yard and tried to learn my new machine. Not much luck with the hunt, but I did find something interesting. By chance you might know something about what I found. My house was built in 1896 so i hope to make fascinating finds as I learn my machine. Stay tune for more videos in my metal detecting journey,

As far as I can tell the key is a piano key mostly for upright style pianos.

This is a great video to watch!! I went on a search and found what that key is... It is a Treadle sewing machine key. Great find!!!
Awesome Key! After you get the signal and pinpoint it, dig your flap plug and then swing machine over plug and hole to locate target. If it dissappears it may be on edge. Don't be afraid to push your pinpointer into the plug. Many targets are on their side and can be missed with a pinpointer. This works with all machines. That's a sweet key Steve. Your own yard is the perfect place to learn the machine. I have been digging for a while now and I still have things disappear when I open up the ground. You just have to go with the flow. You will get it figured out in no time. Happy hunting and be well

I think your find is awesome. Someone needed a tool of some sort to always have with them on their key chain perhaps ? Your target may have been deeper in the plug ? Burying objects and detecting them would be a great way to learn your machine and your pin pointer. Always run your pin pointer over your shovel before using to make sure it is working properly. The house I grew up in had a key like that, it opened all the interior doors while each individual door had it's own key, but it didn't quite look like yours. But pretty close.
Matches the look of a piano wire key, so that’s possible too.

Cool key, you never know what you can find in your yard, and I have had false signals like that.

It is a curious key from the early 20th century.
It looks like a lamp key. Watch your pinpointer. Mine sometimes doesn’t work properly and I have to check it against my detector shaft only to discover it isn’t working. Usually works fine turning it off and back on. Don’t you love the Garrett Ace 400? Happy hunting ✌🏼❤️😊🍀
Can’t wait for it to stop being 90+ degrees with high humidity to hunt more. Kind of a wimp when it come to high temperatures.
@@StarrysLostandFound I can’t do hot temps. I have multiple sclerosis and heat is my enemy. It’s pouring today in Ohio thankfully. I can hear the treasure calling for me. 😂 I hope the heat subsides for you soon 😊

could be an old radiator key or similar for bleeding ect

Fantastic first hunt. My first hunt 30 years ago produced pull tabs. Awesome if that key is for a piano 🎹 The head might even be brand specific.
I don’t see any markings unfortunately, but it is possible that the design might be unique to a brand. Cool idea.

I’ve been told that Singer sewing machine and upright pianos both used a key like that at times.
Oh could be a fancy can opener. Just a thought.
Leading candidates are a key for a singer sewing machine or for an upright piano. The pictures fit for both of them, but I can rule out clockwinding key.
Nice skeleton key one way you can figure out quicker if it's in the plug or the hole before you go to it with the pin pointer use the detector itself and wave it over the plug and the hole and you'll know where it's at first 👍🦀

Apparently both Singer and certain standup piano companies had keys made like those. Not certain which one this is.

No idea for the key. I think you have the right tool for hunting only need to know better how to use the Garrett.
It’s all a learning process with a new tool or a new puzzle.
I believe your key was a key at one time and then someone had re purposed it for another use, what i am not sure
