Please can you explain the formula for me?

Hello, sure ... As we know, integration is used to approximate the area under a curve. The trapezoidal rule in this case is used to approximate the area under that curve by calculating the portions under the curve as trapezoids...if you search up the area of a trapezoid it is also (a+b)/2 . h where in that case there is height (h) ... but in our case the formula is also (a+b)/2 . (b-a) and multiply it by (b-a) instead as we are trying to calculate the area under the curve but up to certain points as you can imagine a curve on a graph goes from different points on the x-axis for example it can start from x=0 up to x=2 and hence we have to define those points, or else we will be calculating the area under the curve up to x=∞ in that case. Hope it helps.
