I cant get mine to oscillate. And I hate the current though the grid. And if you tie g3 to ground then you will loose a ton of current. I do. It doesn’t make sense but i see it. So I always use resistors on my grids. But i did all kinds of stuff and couldn’t get a wiggle and it bugs the crap outta me because it works great as a switch. I have yet to amplify sound or this crystal. Ill try that next. When i used a dc blocking cap, i used a microwave cap. Do i need to match it to my coil? Either way, it should work with it straight DC, no capacitor. I haven’t tried a feedback coil, but it should work with just an antenna. It might be worth amplifying the antenna. Because those lightbulbs are ridiculous. There is no way they aren’t chewing up all ur power. And the dc blocking cap should be bigger i feel like. Idk. But imma scream when it finally works
@@WtfincNo you dont need to match the DC blocking capacior to the coil, ideally it would be infinite in capacitance, problem is a microwave capacior is paper in oil and RF doesnt like high ESR and High ESL capaciors, thats probably one of the reasons. It should be basically a disc capacior.. No this is not going to work without the blocking capacior because then you short out your power supply through the choke to ground. Its just a short across your HV supply. I need to try it with a bigger blocking capacior but 230pF at my frequency is already "close" to a short circuit about 270Ω not great not terrible. It needs to isolate both DC + HFHV from the coil. Remember one symbol in my schematic means ground (supply negative) the other means earth ( your PE wire)

@@Wtfinc Why are you terrified of putting full voltage on the heater? You know that both in indirect and directly heated tubes that decreases the lifespan since you wear out the emissive coating faster if you draw the same current.

great video, what is the title of that book? I can't wait to start my VTTC, still gathering parts as I play with tubes
"philips tubes for rf heating"
Make sure you read up on how to work with microwave transformers. Don't let their smaller size fool you, they can be very deadly.
i have this exact vacuum tube
You do?
Neat! Its a really common Tube
