We're nagging him to finish out the Hobbit trilogy and sing The Last Goodbye. That song is a tear jerker and Geoff will do it justice and make us all cry. I'm at the point now where I'm betting myself if he goes subharmonic or tenor. I don't care just as long as he keeps singing!
My favorite thing about this cover is that it all stays in that kind of... "eye of the storm" space. Like, it does build, but it doesn't go big and bombastic, and it keeps that overall sense of impending conflict. They've just made it through one fight, and they're about to catapult into a second one, and the video really communicates that feeling.
Geoff usually uses his upper baritone for the contrasting solo (Shenandoah) with the tenor as counterpoint harmony. He changed that up when he did Sound of Silence and again here. I love every part of his range.
I find it interesting that he allows the breaths to be so obvious in his recordings. Even more unusual at 1:57 on his recording he stops (swallows) and goes on. That usually denotes emotion that is overpowering the singer, making it difficult to go on, at least in my experience. There was absolutely no need for that to be there, except he wanted to convey that feeling. Absolutely brilliant!

" Peaches " ( Bowser, Mario, Luigi & Toad ). Geoff really unleashes his inner Rock God in this one. Look out Eli, Geoff is coming for you lol. At the end one of Layne's daughters makes a cameo appearance as Peaches. They did this outside, live.
The dwarves (and the "clone" names) are, from left to right: Kili (Geoff), Bofur (Jeff), Fili (Goff), and Thorin Oakenshield (Daryl). Geoff says clone Jeoph took the video off. Rick Underwood did a fantastic job of recreating the looks from Misty Mountains Cold, reusing the actual hair pieces from that video. Kathy pulled the costumes and props together, reusing pieces from MMC, as well as from other videos, such as The Rains of Castamere. Fun fact: The snare drum sound was created using a shovel in dirt and in sand. Geoff is using chest voice for his low notes except for the lovely F1 sub around timestamp 0:30.
I so always enjoy when you analyse Mr. Castellucci and his amazing talent , so beautiful to understand the techniques behind his magic , I thank you !

Geoff always says a little speech and rolls a thank you list to the patrons at the end of his videos. His speeches usually are funny about the video in some way.
Like in his Man of Constant Sorrow. He said "the train tracks I was walking down were not in use. So please please please don't go walking down any train tracks in your area. Trains are big and strong and you are soft and squishy."

The first time I saw and heard this video, it took me close to 3 minutes to figure out the four singers were the same person. 😮 I was already hooked with the deep bass, but then to know he was singing the other octaves, just wow. Thanks for your reactions.

I love the reactions Geoff gets when he goes full head-voice tenor! Even with the bari-tenor singing before, no one expects Geoff to even try to go that high in this song, but it's so nice to hear him letting his higher registers have a chance to shine!
IMO, from the arrangement, instrumentals, vocals, costumes, makeup, lighting - everything, this is the best thing Geoff's done to date.
As a hearing impaired person, one of the things I really love about Geoff and Voiceplay is their attention to clear pronunciation--it's so rare. Saying that, I was initially surprised that Geoff was eliding the R in fire until I remembered something you have told us about holding/emphasizing the vowels and dropping a final consonant to change the vocal tone. See, I have learned something! Congrats on the 100,000--you've earned it.

Yeah, he sings all the low notes in his chest voice except that part in the intro where you point out "that's different" ( 5:19 ), which is a subharmonic F1.
Before that sub, his most remarkable low notes are A#1 and G#1 and after that, when he starts rumbling in the background ( 5:43 - 5:55 ), he's sustaining A#1 - F#1 (pause) G#1 - A#1 multiple times, all in chest 😳
Sometimes, he has F1 in chest, but it's a very unreliable note of his modal voice so he tends to rely on his trusty subharmonic register for anything strictly below F#1 instead
He uses subharmonics even for the same note (when his modal voice isn't at the best quality) or higher to make it more stylistic, normally for fast octave drop, seen such as Queen in 5 mins and other songs done with Voiceplay.
I sincerely still think he has capacity to work on that F1 in modal voice, in order to become much more reliable, because if his chest register is already that strong even at that low, I can't even imagine how it would sound with the same power and ressonance on that note or at least a while step lower that he already can hit confortably and consistently.😂😂😂😂

I know that you're a fan of the Home Free boys and I am certain you haven't done their rendition of 7 Bridges Road, originally by the Eagles.
You most definitely know how wonderful the Eagles harmonies were, so just imagine what the Home Free gent's did.
I am not sure if Geoff did their arrangement, as he has done on many occasions, but still worth a listen if you don't mind.
Listening to not only Geoff, but Voiceplay in general, actually has helped me to start figuring out how to get a few basics down. This song in particular is helping tremendously with widening my personal range. It also brings true emotions and tears, and somehow this also helps me sing better. Why is that?

I've been looking forward to this one ever since it dropped on Patreon, the 'follow-up' to 'Far Over The Misty Mountains Cold' with the return of the 'dwarves' - the costumes are essentially the same (with some additions from 'The Rains of Castelmere!), and Rick Underwood worked his magic again using the same hairpieces and braids, etc. as before. For easy identification, the dwarves (and clones) are, from left to right: Kili (Geoff), Bofur (Jeff), Fili (Goff), and Thorin Oakenshield (Daryl). Geoff says that clone, Jeoph, took the video off! 😊Please stay for the 'outros' for Geoff (and Voiceplay) as there is usually something extra there!

What amazes me is how he creates 4 distinct characters with different voices. The Geoff that sings in the lowest dungeons of vocal darkness, the Geoff that sings the same low notes with an almost light and inviting approach, the Geoff with the expressive warm baritone, and the Geoff that gives chills at the top of the 4th octave. The reason I love your reactions so much can be summed up in what you express at 13:38 when what you call "the fourth Geoff, who we've been waiting for and delivered" comes in. I felt the same way when that happened--I've always thought that you felt the same way as I do about this stuff, and you have such a wealth of knowledge to share. Thank you so much for the work you do to create these reaction videos!

Congrats on your milestone! Great reaction as usual. I didn’t catch the looks that the two low Geoffs exchange. He really used vocal “space” really well in this. Makes it seem so much more deliberate and serious.
I love Geoff’s bassy goodness, but the baritenor and tenor do it for me in this. The extended tenor part is outstanding!
His acting in this is superb. Thorin’s lines are so somber and melancholy. When he looks over at the others, he looks like he knows that the fight will be brutal and is already in mourning. There is a feeling of weariness in his every look.

If you tell the Geoffs to squeeze together some, you can grab a stump and borrow a mustache and take it even higher. I don't know why, but every time you try to follow Geoff down into the basement, I have to laugh. I always enjoy your reactions.
I have listened to this song at least a dozen times and each time I hear something I did not hear before. Then I watch your analysis reaction where you point out a half dozen more things I missed. Not only do I learn something but I am thoroughly entertained by your animated reactions.

At 18:29 you can really see when the Elder Gods try to pierce the Veil Between Worlds. Fortunately Jen's analysis helped us make our sanity check and they were banished to the Halls of Madness once more.

One of my favorite things about this arrangement is how each range is given its moment in the lead, on camera. He often uses his full range of basso profundo to tenor but they tend to be blended in the backing harmonies. And I really love his choice of using two shovels, one hitting sand, the other dirt, for the snare drum sound.

This is just incredible! He still surprises, doesn’t he? I’m not a LOTR fan so I’m not familiar with this but this is beautiful. I particularly enjoyed “tenor” Geoff’s choices in this one, at times very different for Geoff! At 13:35 I am pretty sure my expressions were similar to yours. Too many reactors said he couldn’t sing tenor without layering it and he said “I’ll show you all”😂 I’m not a huge fan of this song cuz I’m not into the LOTR (no shade) but I am a huge fan of Geoff proving haters wrong 😆🙌.

When Geoff goes Sub-harmonic, he employs a technique created by Tim Foust called "The Dragon's Breath." The best example of this technique is actually in a song you've already reacted to on this channel: "Peter Hollens and Tim Foust singing Misty Mountains." The final note of the song is Tim going full Dragon's Breath. Tim taught this technique to Geoff. If you watch Geoff's version of Misty Mountains, he attempts to employ that technique, but you can tell he's still figuring it out because it's a little bit rough. In this song, "I See Fire," it's clear that Geoff has vastly improved his mastery over the technique because his Sub-harmonics are a lot clearer and in tune than in "Misty Mountains." Still, Tim does it better and, in my opinion, is the superior vocalist, but damn if this isn't a masterpiece.
And speaking of Peter Hollens, he also did a cover of "I See Fire" many years back. You should react to that if you get a chance. He's got two versions on his channel. One is just him and the other is with violinist Taylor Davis. They're both good, but I would recommend reacting to the one of just himself. It's INSANE.
