This is the first song by Melissa I ever heard. I got the chance to tell her this song saved my life. It put everything in perspective and described exactly how I felt at that moment. It gave me a way to start moving on with my life. Now that's what I call the magic power of music.
Im 65. Her son Silent legacy gave me the courage to "Come Out". Being a lesbian even in the 90s wasn't easy. Thank you Melissa E. I heard your music. Saw your bravery and ran with it. Never looked back.
This was my mom’s favorite song and was my favorite song for a long time! She passed away from cancer in 2015. You have always been a happy place for me dealing with cancer. I know you have had your battle as well. Every time I hear you, it makes me think of my mom. You could always put a smile on our face, if we were at the lake of the ozarks or tailgating at a chiefs game listening to you! Thank you for everything Melissa!
When these songs were hits, I must have wore out CD after CD. You can feel her soul, heart, and mind, through her great voice. You can feel her pain, and joy, at times, going through her, and you She was so intense, and strong, yet so vulnerable
The first song I ever heard of hers. Been in love with her ever since. Got this album on tape for Christmas 1992. Saw it on VH1 and said "HOLY SHIT, SHE'S PLAYING A 12-STRING!!"
Mine too omg mine too. This song you can hear so much love her so much she's a living Legend and my hero truly saved my life w every word every song ❤️🎸🎵🏳️🌈🦋
I don't remember how I even came across this album back in '89. I knew that it was a classic as soon as I listened to it, though. Still a simply amazing record. I don't know it was who broke Melissa's heart back then, but they sure did a number on her. The happy result was this masterpiece of an album, though.
I don't what i'm doing here but it sure is nice to revisit the past. Thanks for posting these vids. You are one hell of a song writer Melissa. Just unreal.
SAME! My college suitemate and I would blast this and the Indigo Girls on the freeway on the way back from seeing her gf one town over. Classic times. There's not a bad cut on this CD.
pure talent, she is and will always be one of the best artists of this generation, love her, I've seen her Live and Alone Tour and she IS amazing...just her voice, guitar, and piano...amazing! A classic. She rocks.
I wonder how many people under the age of 30 know what a jackpot telephone is..............? I saw Melissa live in 1992 on the Never Enough tour. It was an amazing show.
@@taneeclardy1475 I think she explained on the Songwriters show a jackpot telephone is when you call someone to tell them how you feel about them & if you aren't sure how they'll respond that's why it's a jackpot telephone. You may get a positive answer back, or you may not.
I love Melissa Etheridge, I love her music, I love her husky voice, I love her blonde hair, I love everything about her, I hope your wife doesn't get jealous.
I've listening to Melissa's music for about two weeks...I was first introduced to Indigo Girls "Closer to Fine", then became obsessed with Melissa's "I want to come over"... Love her music!! :)
Circa 89, one of my dear friends bought me ME's Brave & Crazy CD's for my birthday, that was all she wrote. I was 21, walking through the misty forrests and beaches of Humboldt County, CA,with a mug of Earl Grey tea lodged firmly in my hand....I'd just realized I had a crush on a woman named Tracy, who went to college with me at HSU. She was a TA in my history of religion class. I didn't know what to do with those feelings back then. What I do know is this song's been one of the few that have remained current in the sound track of my life for the last 30 years. Melissa is a trailblazer. I wish I could spend one more day, walking the forrest, listening to her on my discman.
Wow the memories...the lifestyle...the exlovers...Brave and Crazy. Just left the Army home from Iraq. What a great album. What a fkd up time 4 my head...life goes on. God bless and keep you. Left LGBTQ for Jesus. You still rock!
Who's still here in 2021? Greetings from Seattle!! Edit: who's still here in 2023? Also, why isn't this amazing woman in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame yet?!!🤔
Dear friend, I can't Thank You enough for a life time of companionship. I've been to all of ur concerts in Michigan. Each song that you come out with at any given time, it seemed like you and I were both walking down the same road so I truly appreciate you more than you could possibly imagine. God bless you and keep you safe. Your for ever friend and admire. ( Dalinda Hinojosa)
Happy to say I have tickets to see her at the Saenger in Pensacola in April, and a good friend who is helping me through a tough time to take to the show after coming to this song in the depths of despair a couple of weeks ago. Can't wait.

She deserves/deserved so much recognition she got. seriously amazing voice.

I'm laughing because you, me, and millions of others had to think the same thing. Whoever it was, she was crazy for
Another fine song with hardly any air time.

Hello, hello this is Romeo
Calling from a jackpot telephone
Shame, shame but I love your name
And the way you make the buffalo roam
Oh fly, fly I guess this is goodbye
Oh you packed up your heart
And you left no souvenirs
But if you want me you can call me
In the night you know where I'll be
Broken lover you can touch me
In the dark the innocent can't see
You lock it up now hide the key
It would mean surrender to let me see
Oh brave, brave soldier keep it under cover
You fell alone like no other lover
Burn the pictures break the records
Run far away to a northern town
Sell your fear and leave me standing here
With no souvenirs
Once, twice I thought it might be nice
To come into your kitchen and play
Cool, cool just a crazy fool
I never saw it any other way
Oh wait, wait I guess I'm just too late
Oh you made up your mind
Love shouldn't be so hard
But if you want me you can call me
In the night you know where I'll be
Broken lover you can touch me
In the dark the innocent can't see
You lock it up now hide the key
It would mean surrender to let me see
Oh brave, brave soldier keep it under cover
You fell alone like no other lover
Burn the pictures break the records
Run far away to a northern town
Sell your fear and leave me standing here
With no souvenirs
No shirts, no shoes
No jackets, no blues
You car's for sale
You forward your mail
You're growing your hair
You don't want to know where
I'm calling you from
Or how come
But if you want me you can call me
In the night you know where I'll be
Broken lover you can touch me
In the dark the innocent can't see
You lock it up now hide the key
It would mean surrender to let me see
Oh brave, brave soldier keep it under cover
You fell alone like no other lover
Burn the pictures break the records
Run far away to a northern town
Sell your fear and leave me standing here
With no souvenirs
What great lyrics. Ya know from the start, this is going to be another great song
Everyone remembers feeling this way
Melting my heart with pain and conquest
This song helped me come to terms with coming out. After I thought it's alright. I came out and it's all been good.
