Leah was light years ahead of her competition on American Idol. She was clearly the most talented and creative -- and I'd even say the hardest-working of the lot. Her skills were cultivated over years of practice and dedication. I think Huntergirl had some vocal training, but I don't think Noah did (at least if his backstory is genuine and I do admire his raw talent). And while I admire the latter two, neither has the vocal chops (and pitch control) that Leah consistently demonstrated since day one, I think the top three should have been Fritz, Nicolina and Leah, with Leah capturing the title. The studio crowd was surely with her as well as the judges. Even the TH-cam voice experts recognized the magic Leah has. But the general voters have demonstrated a bias toward country artists and don't support artists who take risks or are at all distinctive. Noah and Huntergirl stayed safely in their lane, while Leah created her own unique one. As Lionel said, Leah's career is in front of her. And I hope to be in the front row watching her blossom!

Such a relatable and beautiful person. I looked forward every Sunday to hearing her and cried through each performance. You are magic! You are the sun! You are flowers! You are life!

Your right but more specifically there was a touch of Stevia Nicks vibe. You is incredible and when she is not being goofy and she starts singing you get that she is really a star. It is strange it does not always transfer over in industry sometimes but I hope she really gets a deal because she has presence and is really talented.

And she's a free spirit. That contract would have totally stiffled her. So I think everything worked out favourably for her. She got the exposure she needed but without the noose around her neck

But as a recording artist she's not nearly as musically talented and as versatile and as marketable as most persons in the top 10 this year, probably not even top 15. Allegra Miles and Lady K for instance in my opinion had a way wider range and a better voice than Just Sam. Even last year she wouldn't have been able to compete with Casey Bishop, Willie Spence Grace Kinstler and Alyssa Wray.
The fact that no-confidence Noah made it to the top-2 over a handful of talented top 10 contestants (Fritz, Nicolina, Leah, etc) goes to show that American Idol is still, and will always be, a contest of looks, likability and popularity.
All 3 have the total package...many of the other clowns did not. Fritz should have won if it was all about musical talent. Popularity is part of the show and has sent better singers home for 20 years...Adam Lambert stands as the 40 million dollar vocal that got beat by a loser that can't sing because girls voted on looks.
Song choice was questionable for her Springsteen cover, but "Flowers" allowed her singer/songwriter vibe to shine through. This is a much better song for showcasing her rhythm and dynamic.
She or Hunter Girl should have won. They both will have a Music career!! She has improved so much..I'm very impressed as a degreed person in Vocal Music.. Well done!!❤️

Winning doesn't always mean coming first. I lost it everything except my loving kids in 2018, I got suicidal, my business wasn't going well. I remember praying to God to end it all but I stayed on for my kids and never stopped believing..just when it got to the worst stage, the darkest moment of it all, mercy said No. I ran into good luck. So don't ever lose hope because you aren't in the first place.
