I live on the West Coast of Australia. Isolation is nothing new to us. I either get on an aeroplane, or drive for at least two days, just to find a State Border, so we were in a fairly unique position before Corona even arrived. It never made it here until we were all vaccinated. But - TO THIS DAY - You're STILL 4 times more likely to die from Covid in America than you are in Australia. My State has a similar population to Kansas, so I keep an eye on their stats. Over eleven thousand Kansas people have passed due to Covid. We haven't hit eleven hundred yet. We are in a unique spot, but it didn't have to be this bad. Demonising Scientists trying to get new things right is never a good place to start.

We know for a fact that covid was in America in Dec. (based on autopsies of people who died in Jan. with covid in their systems). We know for a fact that Fauci funded gain-of-function research and then changed the definition of gain-of-function research (which almost certainly is where covid came from in the first place). We know for a fact that the American government colluded with Big Tech (Twitter files, and Facebook and TH-cam did the same) to shut down doctors who were actually on the frontlines of the disease and learning how to successfully treat it (Ivermectin). We know for a fact that Fauci made money off of the vaccines that were illegally forced on the majority of America. So far I'm not seeing much good that he did, and there's an awful lot of bad stacking up.

I am so sorry to have witnessed during the Trump presidency how shamefully Dr. Fauci was treated and afterwards as well. Thank you Dr. Fauci for not being deterred and that you continue to care for America's health.

Fauci was the most powerful doctor in the country. I saw the same thing in middle school from kids struggling in science class: they were mean and insulting to the kids who were doing well (me). As adults, can't people just admit they don't understand something, that this makes them uncomfortable, and then either trust the experts or educate themselves, instead of trying to bolster their self esteem with hostility?
I have found most bullies are that way because they are insecure about themselves. One thing I was told/taught to say is, "Let's agree to disagree.", if that person does not have accurate information. I know I have the information I need, but, it is possible the other person hasn't even bothered to do their own research.
One thing to keep in mind, is, the person is not insulting YOU. They are insulting themselves. You can just shake it off, and move on. I did work at a Non-Prof agency, and, had to do that on a regular basis. You need to keep in mind who it is coming from. In school, I think EVERYONE had bullies. But, yes, as adults we should have grown past that. I agree with you.

In the first of the six years I lived in the US, my children, then nine and 10 years of age, found the class they joined to be at least three years behind their own level in science studies.

Where was Marjorie Taylor Greene when I was working in the hospital taking care of COVID-19 patients that died right in front of me and most of those were people who took no precautions or received the vaccine because they listened to people like Marjorie Taylor Greene who told them not to do so. Marjorie Taylor Greene would have been the person who would have refused to take care of COVID-19 patients in the emergency department or ICU. She wasn't there for fellow Georgians who died or were there for their families. I recently stopped being a beauty therapist (esthetician?) and when I went back to work after lockdown, I had an ICU nurse come for a treatment. During the facial, I will never forget the calluses he had on his face from all the PPE.

As a Canadian, we relied on Dr. Fauci for information as well. Seeing how our republican neighbours have treated this man is appalling.
