This song was written by Kenny Logins and Michael McDonald. Kenny’s father was very sick with heart disease and was afraid to have the surgery. Kenny played this song for his father to listen to which truly gave him hope. He had the surgery and lived 4 years ( I know this only to well from being a Critical Care Nurse working in Acute CCU and to many times my colleagues and myself have seen those with advanced heart disease “ like Kenny’s father “ happen to our patients and it’s heartbreaking to see and get to know them). A true song of inspiration and hope for anyone battling any disease. Thank you for sharing this video/ reaction song, I haven’t heard this in along time and truly cried thinking about what we have seen but also grateful to see people fight for their lives, Thank you, A New York CCRN❤️🎶🙏💔🎶🥰🙏♥️🔥
Great Kenny Loggins tune -- I would always refer you to the beginning of his song career, in a more acoustic studio. His first album in 1971 with Jim Messina, Sittin' In, has some phenomenal works --- "Danny's Song", "House At Pooh Corner", and "Vahevella" were popular, but even the deeper tracks, like "Trilogy", "Back To Georgia", and "Nobody But You" were played alot on the radio. All are highly recommended!

Yes that is definitely true about his father, Kenny Logins and Michael McDonald wrote this song and Kenny played it when his father had very bad heart disease and was afraid to undergo surgery. His father made the choice to go for surgery and lived 4 years ( which is a long time for a man with severe heart disease. I only know this because I am a Critical Care Nurse CCU . But it is a song of hope and inspiration to all .🙏♥️🎶💔🙏🎶❤️
Kenny Loggins was in a singing duo called Loggins and Messena from the 60"s? - definitely the 70's , Kenny has a Steve Perry type of clean clear singing voice , Love it
Others have mentioned that he started out partnering with Jim Messina of Buffalo Springfield (and later Poco). One of my favorites for them together was 'Angry Eyes' which has a great performance video floating around TH-cam. Mentioning Messina's work with Poco reminds me that almost no one ever reacts to Poco - they were/are country-rock legends and their work was influential on that whole movement including the Eagles - both the Eagles' bassists and high harmony singers were former Poco members - Randy Meisner and Timothy B. Schmidt. If you look into Poco, I recommend 'Good Feelin' to Know', Magnolia, Crazy Eyes, Crazy Love - but they have dozens of great tunes. #nicknlexrequest
I am not sure if you guys have done any Kenny Loggins & Jim Messina. This was before Kenny went solo. Love this duo from the 70's. I had their albums. They had a lot of great songs such as "Danny's Song", "House At Pooh Corner", "Your Mama Don't Dance", "Thinking Of You", "My Music", "Angry Eyes", "Watching The River Run", "Vahevala", "Lahaina", "Sailin' The Wind", "Pathway To Glory" etc.
Since you were listing all of Loggins & Messina's best songs, I will have to also mention one of my favorites -- "Be Free" from their Mother Lode album - still a masterpiece.
Great pick! I,ve seen him a few times, what a voice! One of the times Michael joined him on tour, i saw that show in Las Vegas, in a small venue, some drunk. stood up and said play some country music/ lol🙃! In real life they,re very close friends! One of my favorite and most talented artists of the twentieth century.i saw him live twice and he was incredible each time. Try reacting to Conviction of The Heart and Celebrate Me Home. 2 fantastic tunes. By the way the song is about his dying father!
My top 3 all time male vocalists are Donald Fagen, Michael McDonald and Kenny Loggins. I loved that MM did background vocals with the other two on so many amazing songs. Other awesome KL tunes I highly recommend are ‘Love Will Follow’ and with Jimmy Messina ‘Watching the River Run’, ‘Angry Eyes’ really the entire Sittin’ In album.
Okay, I don't know if you guys will dig this or not, but in 1981, the San Francisco 49ers were about to play the Cincinnati Bengals in the Super Bowl, and, then coach Bill Walsh played this song for the team to inspire them to go on and win 26-20! Love the 49ers, even though my favorite sport is the original football (soccer). Kenny Loggins, what an amazing singer/performer. I had the extreme pleasure of going to one of his concerts. He has so many hits! Un saludo desde California.
This whole album is fantastic. I still have mine and I had played it over and over and over... you get the idea! The title track is one of my favorites.
This is it, he sings .... this was it, I said, when he released Footloose. I just had become a fan, when I heard Welcome to Heartlight the album before Footloose. I bought High adventure right away, I loved it. But with the soundtrack stuff, I was out. I bought one older album, Nightwatch, but that's all I got and also didn't listen to it anymore in the 90s. Hearing this now is fun.

Loggins and Messina ( Kenny and Jim) were a great duo ,they had some good songs Angry Eyes ,,,Danny's Song . .One my fav by Kenny is I'm Alright from a movie soundtrack.
If it's Kenny Loggins time...... "Celebrate me Home" and "I believe in Love" should be in the pipeline - the former is a thoughtful wistful song about going home for Christmas and the latter is a kind of salsa number
on the album Keep the Fire - Michael Jackson appears on track 6 6. "Who's Right, Who's Wrong" Loggins, Richard Page Michael Jackson, Richard Page: backing vocals
They played this at the disco I frequented in 1978 or 9. I can't say it was the easiest song to dance to due to the frequent tempo changes, but I have always loved Kenny since Logins and Messina days so I didn't mind.
His best music was together with Jim Messina, just listen to the song Native Son, it's so beautiful. First time to your channel. Loved the reaction! Kind of hard to stump someone who has heard Michael McDonald's voice before. So unique that Nick had no problem recognizing it. Love it. You gained a subscriber here as I love to see honest reactions. Great song choice! Can't wait to watch more.
Hi Guys , Kenny Loggins !!!! Yesssssssssss ! Oh boy I have been playing an album of his only days ago I've had since the 70's called "Nightwatch" It's my favourite album and 2 stand out tracks I play soooo much. The title track "Nightwatch" is sultry smooth sizzling seductive music and then there is "Angelique" more raunchy but still smooth seductive music. Plenty of Sax ! and the bass line of the first title track is Oooo ! .... Sorry I'm getting side tracked ...I haven't even played this video reaction yet. Lol Byeee ! Jim X
This is Kenny's 3rd solo album and the one that really broke the band large! The core group (started the album before this Nightwatch) Drummer Tris Imboden (later Firefall and Chicago); Michael Hamilton - Guitar/vocals; Brian Mann - Keyboards; George Hawkins, Jr. - Bass/vocals; Jon Clarke & Vince Denham - brass & reeds (Clarke had been in Loggins & Messina before)
@@TomCruise60081 Sorry, but the actual name of the song is "Heart to Heart". To answer your question, my mother used to play vinyl records growing up with Loggins and Messina records and I remember my father loving "This is it!" when it came on the radio. One thing is true though, when I was a child I really loved "Heart to Heart" but never knew the title of the song or who sang it until about 10 years ago I discovered finally when I heard it playing on a gas station and followed through to finally find out the 'who' and 'title' of that song. I immediately got the Kenny Loggins greatest hits volume and I have never stopped listening to that song. I love Loggins' ability to hit those high vocals and how the song changes its grove. Its a well written song and produced perfectly....I just love Michael McDonald's backup vocals on the track. It is one of the most under rated songs by Kenny Loggins. Loggins did write music in the 80's that are more widely known, but the radio played those songs so many times It just got watered down quite a bit. The radio did that a lot to a lot of 'pop hit songs' and I wish that they would have played records and let the listeners decide on what samples they like....it was nauseating to me to here the same song 10 times a day. The best Kenny Loggins album in my opinion is "Keep the Fire" and by far I believe it outsold all of his collections.
Michael Jackson's "Off the Wall" actually came out in 1979 and Michael died in 2009." Off the Wall" was Michael Jackson's first solo album away from the The Jackson 5(later on they were called The Jacksons). He had a couple solo albums while he was still with The Jackson 5 but he wasn't really a solo artist because he was still part of The Jackson 5 and the group contributed to those albums.
Kenny and Michael collaborated on a couple of songs before Michael joined the Doobies. The dukes of September was a tour with McDonald’s, vegan, and Boz Scaggs. I saw them at Wolf trap a couple of years ago. They were worn out but Boz Scaggs shone like a diamond. Boz is a great little known talent with several hits in the 70s and you guys should look into him more closely.
The Doobie Brothers' Living on the Fault Line album is a hidden gem. *Echoes of Love, *Chinatown, *Livin' on the Fault Line. You're Made That Way, *You Belong to Me, *Nothin' But a Heartache, *There's a Light...and the cover of Little Darlin are all stellar. *are can't miss.
This was a biggie very pop but a great arrangement and great singers. As a lot of people have mentioned Kenny Loggins did a lot of soundtracks in the 70s Caddyshack etc. But you should take a deep dive on his early work with Jim Messina. Of all those pieces my favorite is got to always be angry eyes. It’s got a great harmony great chorus and a very interesting instrumental section with a killer bass groove.
Listening to Kenny on a Radio Interview, he said that people think that this is an Ultimatum to a Girlfriend or Wife? It’s not! His father had Heart problems at the time and refused to do anything about it. He said he’d leave it in God’s hands. “If I’m not meant to live, than so be it!” This song is telling him, “This is it, your backs to the corner. This is it, make no mistake where you are, you’re going no further”….. SanJoséBob
You should go back and check out Loggins & Messina albums - The first one is called Kenny Loggins with Jim Messina "Sittin' In". Jim had just left Poco (after Buffalo Springfield) and was the producer on this album but was encouraged to "Sit In' to help promote this unknown singer-songwriter (previously he'd had several songs on Nitty Gritty Dirt Band's "Uncle Charlie & His Dog Teddy" and the song "House at Pooh Corner became an moderate hit for that band). As it turned out the duo was such a hit that the pairing became a band and several hit album were the result. They are playing again this year for the first time in decades July 15th at the Hollywood Bowl! (They only played together since the group disbanded for charity concerts for the Santa Barbara area in 2005 and later that year for Hurricane Katrina relief - they did about 40 shows that year all for charity, and that was the last time until this year.) I saw them a few times between '72 & '76 and they were always excellent!
Love this. You guys should check out the you tube video of Kenny, Michael and David Fisher doing This Is It, What a Fool Believes and Heart to Heart. 15+ minutes of sheer class.
Kenny Loggins started with Jim Messina.Formed their band Loggins & Messina.Great music.I think Kenny at his best.Try Danny's Song,Watching the River Run,House at Pooh Corner,Angry Eyes,Your Mama Don't Dance.List could go on.The reunion CD or the DVD Live at the Santa Barbara Bowl is a must listen.
Thanks guys that was a fun review. The Loggins and Messina catalog is deep and worth exploring and I know you will dig It. As others have suggested, you have to get to "Watching the River Run", "Angry Eyes", Danny's Song etc. The solo Loggins album, Nightwatch, from which you reviewed "this is It", was in my opinion, the last good record before the lame period of soundtrack hits. I would recommend working backwards from Nightwatch. Happy listening!
The song was tie into many televised sports events in the years following its release, such as highlights programs. It achieved a high level of success; in my case, it remained in my memory while "Footloose" and other work came years later.
And the third guy on that “Dukes of September” DVD is … … Michael McDonald. All three legends are older so take that into account but they take turns doing their own songs together. ✨🤪
@@NicknLex Well, remember that you’ve reacted to over 700 tracks in a year and a half. And lots of players … so many band names and musicians to follow as they move from one band to another. 🤪 You both do a great job of digesting all the info we force-feed you. Lol 🥄 🐦
I saw Dukes at St. Augustine FL amphitheater in August 2012, I’ve been to hundreds of concerts and this was in my top 3 best ever. Second row dead center seats, only bad part was it felt like it was 100 degrees...our sweat was sweating it was so humid LOL
I've had the pleasure of seeing Kenny Loggins/Loggins&Messina/Blue Sky Riders many times. Some of my favs are not the big radio hits (although I like thoses too). The album Nightwatch is a good example. I LOVE it, but it's not everyone's cup of tea. His stint with Georgia Middleman and Gary Burr (aka the Blue Sky Riders) was very enjoyable, though they never made it big 'cause they couldn't be pigeonholed into any particular genre. Also, check out the DVD set of his two-night performance in Chicago at WTTW’s Soundstage Studio. A great show exhibiting his past and current hits at the time from all three phases of his career. I had the pleasure of being there. Unforgettable. Kenny has a new memoir coming out mid June/2022. Should be interesting.
I had to give a thumbs up just for the intro. I know it's going to be good. Now that I've watched it, I did enjoy the reaction, but I thought sure the thing Lex was going to reveal was not Micheal MacDonald's involvement, but I thought she was going to go into the emotional backstory to the song. Kenny wrote this song when his Dad was in the hospital after a heart attack and his father was depressed and ready to give up, and Kenny wrote the song to encourage his Dad to fight and not give up. Now that my own Dad has passed, this song always makes me cry.
So sorry for your loss ❤️We didn't know the backstory of the song. Honestly we never look up anything before reacting because it might take the attention of the instruments. We usually read the lyrics right after the video. I often cry to music and it's a bit embarrassing but I can't help.it. crying is very good.for your soul and it's like taking a cold shower. Thanks for letting us know about the true meaning about the song 🙏
@@NicknLex Thanks so much. And I agree with you about crying. But I think you made the right choice to not look up the meaning of the song ahead of time. But, yeah, knowing the meaning often brings new appreciation for it, but I know you know that. :)
Also on this album you can find "Who's Right, Who's Wrong?" featuring vocals from Michael Jackson. And the title track, "Keep The Fire" has a cool vocal effect using something called a vocoder(?). Great songs. For another cool Kenny Loggins song with Michael McDonald listen to "Heart To Heart" off the High Adventure album. High Adventure also has the Kenny Loggins/Steve Perry duet, "Don't Fight It." Great reaction! Thank you.
Glad to see all the love for Loggins & Messina in the comments, they have been sadly ignored by most of the reaction community. And they are right up your alley Nick & Lex. Sold millions of records in the '70's you will love them and I recommend starting with "Angry Eyes" which for me is the essence of L&M. th-cam.com/video/E3r6H9ghsSg/w-d-xo.html
Kenny's Celebrate Me Home Album is really good, as well as the early stuff with Jim Messina the others have mentioned. If you guys ever have kids, his kids album Return To Pooh Corner is really sweet. We used to play it softly at bedtime with our son. Also Linda Ronstadt's This Is Dedicated To The One I Love is equally wonderful. 🎵❤️🎵
Thanks so much for diving into some Kenny Loggins! This reaction was great as always. Kenny’s album “ Keep the Fire” is outstanding, and of course his collaboration with Jim Messina (formerly of Poco)started everything off for Kenny Loggins. Glad that Messina chose to write and perform with him instead of Dan Fogelberg, who was great in his own right, but Kenny Loggins was the better fit.
Kenny and Stevie Nicks HAVE done a song together, and it was a big hit - “Whenever I Call You Friend”.
Was just going to comment the same thing.
In my book, the 2nd best pop song from 1978
Yes, please do this song it's great!!!
Michael McDonald is involved in that sing as well :)
Stevie never sounds better... imagine that. Great song!!! A MUST play.
Loggin's and Messina "Angry Eyes" can not be missed
Kenny Loggins was the king of the movie soundtracks in the 80's Caddyshack, Footloose, Top Gun, RockyIV to name a few.
I'm Alright had a guest singer with Kenny Loggins. I will not say who he was. 🤫
The song is in the soundtrack to the movie 🎥 Caddyshack ⛳ 🏌️♂️ 🏌️♀️

Thanks for the kind words and support. It’s great to have you! :)
Try "Be Free" and "Angry Eyes" by Loggins and Messina.....
Never noticed Mike Mcdonald singing back up on this tune. You guys pointing it out sure helped. Cheers.
- Bass/vocals; Jon Clarke & Vince Denham - brass & reeds (Clarke had been in Loggins & Messina before)
This song takes me back to late 80’s. I was 14 in 79 so not quite yet into smart music. Great song I discovered a few years after it came out. ☺️
Great Loggins/Michael McDonald collaboration. It's about Loggins' Dad fighting cancer.
Don't stop till you get enough Nick.
Another great Kenny Loggins song is "Hearts" which is one of my favorites, great vibe!
Thanks for your continuous love and support ❤❤
For how long have you been a fan of mine??
Look up Kenny Loggins Live From the Redwoods. Michael is a guest. It's a great concert.
My favorite Logins & Messina album is their live album. The version of Angry Eyes is life changing.
Michael Jackson's "Off the Wall" actually came out in 1979 and Michael died in 2009." Off the Wall" was Michael Jackson's first solo album away from the The Jackson 5(later on they were called The Jacksons). He had a couple solo albums while he was still with The Jackson 5 but he wasn't really a solo artist because he was still part of The Jackson 5 and the group contributed to those albums.
he's also done a song with Steve Perry and responsible for the soundtrack footloose and Dangerzone from the film Top Gun.
For once in your life
Here's your miracle.
Stand up and fight.
This is it.
Yacht Rock dynamite!
Great bassline
Loggins was grouped with Messina early on. Love their stuff and you will too.
SanJoséBob
He did this song as his encore live at Tanglewood Amphitheater that lasted more than 20 minutes.
(They only played together since the group disbanded for charity concerts for the Santa Barbara area in 2005 and later that year for Hurricane Katrina relief - they did about 40 shows that year all for charity, and that was the last time until this year.)
I saw them a few times between '72 & '76 and they were always excellent!
This song won a Grammy in 78 or 79.
Love this. You guys should check out the you tube video of Kenny, Michael and David Fisher doing This Is It, What a Fool Believes and Heart to Heart. 15+ minutes of sheer class.
You meant David Foster :)
@@SK-lk3iu Yes I did. David Fisher is a pal of my husband's lol
Juntos son dinamita 👍🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷🙋♂️
Another great one that also has Michael McDonald is a song from 1978 called "What a Fool Believes".
You won't be sorry.
😊
If you don't listen to Logggins and Messina's live performance of Angry Eyes, you will hate yourself forever.
The song was tie into many televised sports events in the years following its release, such as highlights programs. It achieved a high level of success; in my case, it remained in my memory while "Footloose" and other work came years later.
Kenny Loggins from, Footloose and top gun!
And the third guy on that “Dukes of September” DVD is … …
Michael McDonald. All three legends are older so take that into account but they take turns doing their own songs together. ✨🤪
DUHHHH 🤣!! Omg
I especially like Kenny Loggins from his Loggins and Messina time. Must hear their track, Angry Eyes.
Hi again ! Great track and reaction. There is so many albums but all I can say on that is read my 1st comment....again ! Lol Nuff said ! Byeee ! Jim X
Thank you.
the next Kenny Loggins song to check out is " I'm alright" , great song, I think Kenny has a voice similar to Steve Perry of Journey
Angry Eyes.....long version or short. So good 👍
Thanks for your continuous love and support Nancy ❤❤
For how long have you been a fan of mine Nancy??
Loggins & Messina !!!!
Sometimes I just get into a Kenny Loggins mood.
the next Kenny Loggins song to check out is " I'm Free" great song
🎵❤️🎵
Thanks for your continuous love and support Debra??
I see what you have up your sleeve, Lexi! … Your Seinfeld sleeve. Lol 😝. My money’s on Nick hearing him. Let’s see. ✨😉👂
Another Kenny who will move you : Kenny RANKINS ! Try his original song 'Haven't We Met' from his album 'Silver Morning' released in 1974.
Abrazos y felicidades,
"Que viva el mole de Guajolote"
