I had it happen when a customer in the waiting room had a second key in her purse. She was leaning on it and hit the remote start. Luckily I was only putting brakes on it.
20 years ago I put a car up on the lift to do exactly that. An oil change. As I was trying to lift it, the aftermarket alarm kept going off. From the motion sensor. The buttons were worn off the key fob, so I had no way of knowing which did what. I kept fooling with the buttons, and finally got the alarm turned off. Or so I thought. 5 minutes later, the car started. Yep. No oil in it. I couldn't let the car down fast enough, to rip the coil wire off it.

Should have grabbed a ladder and stepped on the brake pedal that will shut it off.
