- From 2019-20 winner Jamie Vardy at Leicester City, to 1992-93 recipient Teddy Sheringham, HITC Sevens attempts to rank every Premier League Golden Boot winner, which is awarded to the division's top scorer across the course of a season.
The Golden Boot has previously been won by the likes of Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer, Arsenal's all time record scorer Thierry Henry, and Ballon d'Or winning Manchester United legend Cristiano Ronaldo.

I'm just surprised that Wayne Rooney never won the golden boot
i'm not he only ever got close when ronaldo twice 09/10 & 11/12the other seasons he was miles off.some of it down to how he played but if he was a good enough out and out striker he would have played that role more than he actually did. its only time that got him so many goals
tbf he was only utd,s main striker in 3 seasons, from 9/10 -11/12, he always had striking partners and world class players around him which he usually set up like RVN, RVP, CR7, Tevez etc.
@@michaelarmer256 That's the most idiotic thing I've heard. Rooney was amazing as an out and out striker. But he didn't always play there out of necessity so as to accommodate and get the best out of other players. He spent half his career as a second striker, on the left, as a no. 10 and even as deep as central midfield.
In addition to that Rooney's role in the team was never solely that of a goal scorer unlike plenty of players in this video. I have no doubt in my mind that had he played his entire United career as the main goal getting striker then he'd have multiple golden boots as well as being the all time leading goal scorer in the Prem.
Probably because Rooney played in a deeper role while ronaldo was in Manchester

Very strange though. When Hasselbaink played for Telstar in the Netherlands, he was one of the worst strikers the club has ever seen according to my father who is a live long Telstar supporter. He never thought that he would become a world class striker. Crazy how he turned his career around.

To everyone asking no Rooney never won it but his stats for the prem are still mad 491 appearances 208 goals and 103 assists so he was directly involved in 311 goals in 491 appearances that’s why he was so good and a deffo united legend

Drogba was the first striker I watched when I first started watching soccer. As Americans, we were fucked to watch any soccer on tv live before the late 2000's early 2010s. Wasnt until a roommate put me on fifa and then real soccer, inwas all for Drogba and playing with Chelsea in fifa. Just something about being introduced to supreme athletes around the world and what they look like in person from fifa.Iv become obsessed with everything about the game since tho.. even follow a lot youth players. Auba was sensational at Dortmund though before joining Arsenal whereas RVP had about 4 good seasons and Tevez also only had about 4 great years whereas Auba was untouchable for about 4-5 consecutive years between Dortmund and Arsenal

Players that hit high peaks in their teenage years almost always go on to get their careers ruined by injuries. Even Ronaldo and Messi waited till their 20s for their peak years. Compare that to R9 or Michael Owen that were insane in their teens and then ruined their bodies because of it.
Maybe it's anecdotal but to me it makes sense that straining a developping body so much will hurt it in the long run.
The suggestion that those players hit their peak too early is flawed in the sense that maybe injuries hampered their ability too greatly before we could see their peak. Messi scored a hattrick against real at 19. if an injury had ruined his career, saying that he peaked too early would, as we know it, be an atrocious statement.
With regards to Owen at least, he himself have said that muscle unjuries and such just seemed to run in his familiy. His father and brother(s) all suffered from injuries while playing sports their entire lives. So Owen was probably just destined from birth to be injury-prone.

@@tommyvinceze6249 those 2 examples are anecdotal and some of the most high profile ones, but there are studies that literally say that the earlier an athlete peaks the earlier they decline. And it's not like their relative performance peak is the same. If you reach your performance peak at 22-24 you will likely have a much longer career at that level than if you reached that high level at 17-19.

Drogba was a complete forward, used to create chances for fellow attackers and Lampard. He was also physically strong. People say He was a 2 season wonder but forgot how good he was and always used to score important goals for Chelsea 💙

It was a time where the Malays, Chinese, Indians and other races all played together, in wake of a racial riot in 1969. The rankings are a bit harsh on Mohamed Salah, seeing that he scored like 40+ goals in the first season and won consecutive golden boots
he did 32 on first season, which is the highest anyone ever did on a premier league season, and got 10th place...its absurd...he is also a complete player with many skills and a high number of assists as wells

Since David Beckham has been added to FIFA 21 with a 92 rated prime card, I think a more opinion based video like the Zidane or Pelé one would be a great tie-in.

Henry's last game for Arsenal was at Sunderland, he got subbed off 5mins from time of course he'd scored in the game. He has spoken about it many times. He couldn't believe to whole crowd standing up & saluting the genius he was. He couldn't believe the noise of a defeated home teams fans cheering him as he walked off the pitch. I was one of them it was a fitting send off for an absolute legend of the Premier league.

True, you could easily say Dwight Yorkes goals in 89/90 season were a major reason United won the treble, or even Mane and Salah, there golden boot wins helped Liverpool to the very top. I understand why they went with overall career impact but even saying that Suarez shouldnt have been higher than Shearer.

Im a chelsea fan, and for me hes better than a lot of the players in this list, too bad he didnt won it.
Rooney was just unlucky, some players in the list won it with 18 goals, everytime Rooney scored more than 25 there was just someone who killed it more.
Because Wazza always sacrificed himself for the betterment of the team. Sure he wanted to leave in 2010 and many United fans haven’t forgiven him but I’ll never forget his contributions to the history of the club.

Van Persie has won 2 Pl titles. He was part of the invincible squad with 12 appearances.
No he wasn’t, he joined at the start of the 04/05 season. The year after the invincibles season. His prem title with United is the only one he ever got.
I don't think any player in the league has had a season as devastating as Suarez did. 31 goals w/o taking pens, second in the pecking order when it comes to FKs, and missing a significant number of games at the start of the season. It's a shame he couldn't win the league that season.
