You have definitely made a impression on my wife because she made a comment about how far you have come in your home theater and she was very impressed. I am so glad that she watched this video because she has a better understanding about the whole process of subwoofers and what they are for. I have 4 passive subs that I have not been able to get setup yet because I am still working on my recovery after being in the hospital for almost 6 months but I’m going to get it done in a few months. Thanks for the video it was great seeing my wife growing into a new understanding.
Kpaceguy buy some nice curtains from bedbath&beyond and put them over your window and avr rack door, the bass will improve as well. you will have to recalibrate your system tho
I bought 4 bic pl300's based on your review and so glad I did, the extension and volume is absolutely sick. Had to cut it at 18hz as lower induced nausea 😂
An array of multiple subwoofers evens out the output of the signal to balance out the output of that signal and allows more 'headroom' so to speak. I have not used multiple subwoofers throughout my decades long HT journey and the basement in my now long-realized HT only uses one; an original HSUVTF15 placed behind my couch. Many factors are at play;- how much sqf, is there solid foundation (basement, double flooring etc.) is there solid wall structure (single/double paneling/double drywall/sound absorption), ceiling construction etc. All of these things incorporate into the equation of the result heard/felt. Having a literal earth foundation under my feet and solid brick wall surrounding me (a 102 yo solid house) - so 3 of 4 sides - by more earth factors into my experience. My SPL performance is unique. To a degree needing multiple subwoofers (not wanting) has a lot to do with the structure you sit in/on/within and how the martials used to create that space affect sound output. I can't imagine even opting to utilize Q2/both ports open and have never even tried it with the HSU AND my level on the sub is barely at 0900. I have experienced multiple sub spaces though and found the experience a good one. I would recommend to anyone, whether creating a new space or even moving into a new one, to spend the most time dialing in the room correction WRT room treatment extensively with one subwoofer before adding multiple subwoofers as much as one can.
I diy all of my subs for a fraction of the cost. Pro tip for the audience , if you have a receiver that has Dirac bass control it’s worth the upgrade for multi sub. No need for a mini dsp or any other ads ons. Denon latest receivers have four sub outs and are pretty affordable.
as long you you have dsp, diy subwoofer is a safe bet to get most for your money. and if you go sealed you can use that extra headroom to extend the bass into the infrasonic :) audio and speakers got so much more fun and easy when dsp came into the hobby.
I have a playlist on my D.I.Y subs. I have a short video about the attic sub but I'll make a dedicated one soon as I've changed the sub that is up there since making that video
Just went back and found your diy vs prebuilt sub videos.. very cool!! 🎉 Question, are you going to use the Dayton UM15 II for the next diy dual sub? Have you thought of maybe trying a different 15” driver? Like the Stereo Intgrity SQL15 or even the RSS390HF etc.. both of those have lower Res Freq. 🎉 Btw. I happened upon an old link to rythmik’s subs and they had the G25hp listed for as low as $2219!!! Can’t believe the price increases.. ugh. Pps. Have you considered building a single 18”/21” or even a GSG flat pack with SI 24” or 18” for your 4th sub which you could then dial in for your infrasonics?? 🎉
I will be using the new ultimaxx 2s. I thought about changing the drivers but I want to keep the subs the same. Maybe in the future I'll upgrade all the subs drivers for more power and output.
I’ve heard from a few reliable sources that 3 subs is actually more ideal and the payoff for a 4th sub is very little and then can start to cancel out a bit. But who knows, this could be totally wrong. I currently have two 12” Monoliths but plan on getting a 3rd this year.
Hey Kpaceguy! Thank you for this video but my question is can you use different size subwoofers together, for an example, a 10 inch and a 12 inch subwoofer.
The only problem is Yamaha doesn't have a subwoofer comparable to the RSL Speedwoofer 12 inch (which will be my next subwoofer purchase) and the Yamaha sub I do have is only 10 -inches.
Nice, Subs!!! Normally, i would jus save my money until BF or catch a sale during the year. But i am truly Pleased with what i hav in my basement. Which what u would find in a actual Movie Theater. No one I seen or know has the same set up. But i built my system over years of slow upgrades...I tell everybody Build slow and get what u Like/Want. Don't follow Anybody get what U can afford and be happy...
@Kpaceguy I have a cousin that tells me the same thing. "Buy once cry once" and he's not into home theater like we are. For me whatever I buy for my first system to the system I have now , I somehow make it sound the way I like. I might not have the best of gear, what is sounds good to my ears and it's in vibes through me. Especially when listening to music. Now watching movies is another thing. Not floating the boat what do I have five subs . One 8" couple to my center channel. 210 inch couple to my front left and right , and 2:15 inch for the LFE . They cover pretty good sound. If you don't remember me I'm the one that deals with Polk. May not be the best but it's okay to me. Is it really anything out there that I really want? Not right now. I don't need to get anything of the range of 2500 to 10,000 right now. I'm happy where I'm at. Great video keep them coming.
@Kpaceguy I hope it works out. I'm upgrading from 2 10" entry level subs. Even those two shake my couch and makes it feel like I have bass shakers. I'm sure upgrading both the size of the subs and doubling the number will be awesome.
@FURognar i just upgraded my entry level Klipsch 12's to 2 SW15'S and wow! What a difference! These subs give me the bass I was missing. The kind you don't hear, but feel the floor shake! I thought about using the Klipsch for rear subs since I have 4 independent sub outs on my Denon avrx3800, but everyone says you should try to keep them the same. So I'll use the Klipsch in other rooms and possibly buy 2 more SW15'S 😊
There only 2 subwoofer not 4 🤔 there 1 sub in a sealed box with a passive radiator on the opposite side 🧐of it😉 I highly doubt that it's a 4 subwoofer set up and in 4 sealed box built 2 duals 🫡💯🎵🎶
Although I agree with it, “buy once, cry once” is a tough pill to swallow in this hobby. I think this hobby lends itself to incremental upgrades. With the price of things, you have to learn to enjoy the journey of dreaming, planning, saving, and executing when you can. Patience is hard but rewarding. One thing I’d advise to everyone in the hobby is LEARN to become handy with tools and DIY. There’s so much value there. I, myself, DIY’d most of my room and all four of my stereo integrity 15s are DIY. Nearly all my theater is second hand quality gear.

You could of saved a few hundred dollars or got more powerful subs if you would of bought car audio subwoofer . Home audio woofer are over priced for what they are. @Kpaceguy it's all in the box and tuning. I also doubt that you can hear any difference by ear. the b2 audio or hdc Orian subs can get nasty low and the peak to peak travel insane either one can take 3000w rms all day. There isn't any power subwoofer doing that amount the svs16 ultra or the new 17 are the only thing that comes close and that💰🤑 2500$ 3k$ Just for 1 sub for that price you be able to get 4 subwoofer in b2 audio sub and the amplifiers in total that would be 10k watt all put together worth of subwoofer power Vs 1 svs. 💯🤔🧐🫡✌️👌🎶🎵
@Kpaceguy 💯🤑 that what about what two b2 audio or 2 orain hdc coast . watch a review on either of those subs in a demo on TH-cam there really impressive 🎵🎶💯👌✌️

Did you use the Rhitmic diy kit for copy sub build? If not how you implement the servo technology?
@shteud01 you can't use the servo tech without their amp and driver combo. So I use a dsp to do something similar. But I can't replicate it all.
