    But the strength might take a little practice - Yes ma'am. Learnt it, then got sick for a month after that and lost all my strength. Tried eating again with the chopsticks and it took some getting used to cuz I had no strength in me and I kept dropping the food or they would get twisted... This is after perfecting it... So, yeah, needs constant practice and brushing up the skill/leveling up... To heavier foods for finger strength and dexterity. 🙏🏻

    One more thing, never use your chopsticks for stabbing your food. Because it's considered to be rude and is a display of poor table manners.

    • @ericayeahtw
      @ericayeahtw  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Wow, you put a lot of thought into this! i love it! I can see you master it very soon!
      When you feel comfortable about these dowel sticks, you can start practicing with reusable wooden chopsticks. they are also easy to grab and use, not slippery, but shape more like a chopstick (with one end thinner than the other end) lmk how it goes~

      When it comes to slippery noodle, you can get those chopsticks with the gride that will keep it from slipping off the chopsticks, and you can also work on the angle to make the noodles 90 degree against the chopsticks and gravity will help you hook it up, lmk how it goes~

    • @ericayeahtw
      @ericayeahtw  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It might be your muscle getting tired, it's like a workout, the more you use it, the less you feel the pain.
      but also, there's a option of finding lighter chopsticks say Chinese wooden chopsticks are lighter then Korean metal chopsticks. chopsticks with grids on the tips(so the food don't slide as easily) can also help release some tension on the grip. let me know how it goes

    I’ve been using chopsticks since I was a kid, but no one ever taught me to use them. I hold my chopsticks basically this way, but resting on my middle finger instead of my ring finger. I mean, it works the same, just slightly different. Although, I don’t know if this would be considered a so faux pas not. Benefits to using chopsticks in America I suppose.

      see if you can get a better grip by holding a bit closer to the tip(where you pick up food)? The further you hold, the harder to use.

    “It doesn’t matter how you hold your chopsticks”
    It really shouldn’t but my partner is Chinese, and despite how wrong it sounds, there are a lot of her family’s side that judge you for the most minuscule of things such as this….
    So I have to learn certain ways of holding!!

    • @ericayeahtw
      @ericayeahtw  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Oh no... I'm so sorry... that sounds soo stressful.. they should understand that it's not your culture and appreciate that you're even trying, cuz I know a lot of people won't even give it a try. so just so you know, that I'm proud of you!
      Most of these judgemental behaviors came from insecurity and ignorance, I hope at least your partner is on your side cuz I know sometimes Chinese family culture can be a bit intense

      @twowheelseatingmeals-motoj8080 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ericayeahtw My partner says the same things you say - it doesn’t matter.
      A comment I received for the way I hold my chopsticks was “This is how a rich person holds their chopsticks” as I was pointed at in front of multiple members of the family, some people laughed and some people looked awkwardly at each other and then at me. The vibe became uncomfortable after that remark but whatever, the night continues.
      Sticks and stones, right…?

    • @ericayeahtw
      @ericayeahtw  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Oh, you can find very similar ones on amazon, just type in wooden chopsticks, the length are all very similar and souldn't matter while using, unless you're looking to use for cooking and want to stay away from heat, then you can find cooking long chopsticks, tho they did take more strength to hold so instead I just use tongs, hope it helps

    As a matter of fact, it's pretty hard to use chopsticks if you had never done it before.
    Mostly because your fingers have never experienced this kind of load. So they will get tired quickly.
