I’m more a cat person but if I were to get a dog, I’d learn how to train it from a gentleman like this. I’ve caught a few videos from this creator and am astounded how disciplined his dogs are. Well done sir, your skills are clearly evident.

The best tip you’ve ever given was that if you say the command before and motion the dog will associate the word with the motion and then the motion with a command.
That’s such a subtle but helpful thing I haven’t even noticed my dog does until now.

I don't have dogs but I have cats and have tried to teach them some stuff. They just respond to hand signals/body language rather than words, and this has helped me realise it's because when I've been teaching them, I've been saying the word at the same time as the hand signal.

I always feel so special when I hear you giving your dogs commands. Since the most special trained dogs are from Germany they mostly respond to German commands. So I (as a German) always recognize the words. Something I hear pretty often is „Gib Laut“ (apparently used to make the dog bark at a target) which can translate to „make (a) noise“, or „Fuß“ which translates to „foot“ (used to make the dog stay near your leg/foot with or without physical contact).

I don’t how to get my cat to do anything I command so when I put my hand up, she puts her head up. I think my other cats do this to my first cats name is heart she would do anything I text told her on command I had to do it like sign language, but it was really hard and my second cat six expects me to pet her but I finally got her to come to my hand I’m still training her.

@@kaijavedennis7249you can actually train them the same way as dogs! You just need a little more persistence and time. Any treat she's particularly interested in, or if she's more interested in playing you can give a play reward :) I trained my cat with help from the Dogo app to tell me how to take the next steps (and even what steps to take) but there are other apps like it.

Another key that isn't mentioned in the video but is definitely demonstrated - make the key word not one you'll be using all the time in normal conversation, and pop the word out when you say it. Don't just say "sit" you want to say it like you're excited, a bit loud and higher pitched, almost like the word can't get out of your mouth fast enough. This will be key to get the dog to understand at first that this is something they need to respond to, and as you get better at it, you can lower the energy with the word and bring it back to a moderate (but still not your normal speaking level necessarily) volume and energy.

  • @yesyes9698

Wow very interesting. I had noticed my dog would pay attention more to my body instead of my voice which would sometimes go ignored, I was saying the word at the same time as the sign or no sign at all. Will try later in his training session (four times a day) hope I’m setting us both for success.

Another good tip is use hand signals at the same time as commands. Comes in really handy as u can give commands without speaking if needed and when u want it to be only verbal just slowly but surely stop using the hand signals. I found u are less likely to have a dog ignore your command while training then aswell when u know they no it but don't want to do it. My collie trys it all the time but I'm to stubborn and make him do the command before we carry on doing anything what so ever
