    I need to make one of those, it would make playing gigs so much easier. They sound really good to be so shallow but that's cause you know how to tune and your an awesome drummer!

      Thanks! Yeah, it makes for a pretty portable setup. I was surprised with the sound as well....the shells were even cheap entry level drums.

    Nice project, looks n sounds good.
    Would love a light compact kit but would never want to compromise on sound so will stick with a regular kit until a miracle comes along!

    • @ARDrummer
      @ARDrummer  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, if I could only have one kit....I would want a full size setup.

      Must admit though it sounds pretty good compared other pricey compact kits on the market.
      I have a 20" x 8 marching drum already so might have a go myself at building one myself!

      Thanks! I have a suitcase drum kit as well. This pancake bass drum sounds much more like a standard kick drum although it does lack the "cool" factor of the suitcase kit :)

    sounds good and i like the green and black. i don't think i want to go back to regular depth mounted toms, because i love having them level with my main snare; such economical playing movements, and i like the look of it, too.
    ayyye, "Holy water" by we the kingdom is in the recommends; think i'll put that on and jam out on my bass.

    • @ARDrummer
      @ARDrummer  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! Yeah, I definitely prefer shallower shells as well. Also, a shorter bass drum (20" or smaller) helps to with getting toms lower.

    • @Pure_KodiakWILD_Power
      @Pure_KodiakWILD_Power 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ARDrummer yep, i prefer the punchiness of the 20 as well. also, when we make our own shallow shells from regular ones, we get twice the drums out of them 😂 i just have to find a good percussion parts supplier, because amazon doesn't offer much in that regard.

    Cool project, I wonder how the painted hardware holds up?

    • @ARDrummer
      @ARDrummer  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Probably wouldn't hold up great if I'm not careful. The plasti dip does help some in regards to it not flaking of though.

  • @RainMakeR_Workshop
    @RainMakeR_Workshop หลายเดือนก่อน

    Do you still have these? If so, have you ever tried calfskin or faux calfskin heads on them? Curious if they'll have a frame drum kinda sound.

    • @ARDrummer

      @@ARDrummer Well if you ever do, I'd be curious what calfskin/faux calfskin heads sound like. I think it might be a good sound for folk music and tribal beats.

    • @ARDrummer

    Aren't all drum kits travel kits? Whether you're using a normal kit or this, it's all going in the car, anyway, I'm assuming you're bringing hardware and cymbals too, so maybe just bring a regular drum kit. Unless you're driving around in a two seater or something. Sorry, I just don't see the point.

    • @ARDrummer
      @ARDrummer  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      To each their own. I have 15 other drum kits and wanted to try something different. This would be for a very small venue and would be used in conjunction with minimal hardware/stands.
