  • This video is a summary of all of AQA Magnetism and Electromagnetism, explained for GCSE Physics 9-1. You can use this as an AQA Magnetism and Electromagnetism revision tool.
    The magnetic field around a permanent magnet loops from the north end to the south end and can be represented using field lines. If the field is stronger then the field lines are closer together. The magnetic field around a current-carrying wire is circular and we use the right-hand thumb rule to determine its direction. A solenoid acts like a bar magnet.
    The motor effect: A current flowing in a magnetic field will produce movement. We use Fleming's left hand rule to determine the direction of movement. Thumb = force/movement, first finger = magnetic field and second finger = current.
    The generator effect: A moving wire in a magnetic field will produce an electric current. This is very similar to the motor effect and again, we use Fleming's left hand rule. There are two types of generator: an alternator (AC) and a dynamo (DC)
    The force of a magnetic field is given by: force = magnetic field strength x current x length of wire, F = BIl.
    Transformers are used to step up or step down the potential difference of the National Grid. Vp/Vs = np/ns and Vp x Ip = Vs x Is.
    Thanks for watching,

    Here before all the other yr 11s rush to revise two weeks before GCSE, if any one is watching this in yr 10 or below. Trust me exams come before you even realise they are there just revise long term what's going to help you? A controller or a text book. Just revise, use your time wisely

    Hi, I have question if two coherent sources produce waves which are 180 degrees out of phase, what is the possible value for the path difference of the two waves when they meet at a point of constructive interference if the wavelength is lamda?

    I am really confused on how Fleming's left hand rule works, in the example you were using you showed the current going in an awkward position but i was unable to tell where the current was going, the only thing i could tell was the magnetic field,would appreciate if you answered as fast as you could,I have a test today,thanks.

    not related to magnetism but in the radioactivity topic, do we have to know how a beta particle is formed? By the way, these videos are really helpful!

    • @PhysicsOnline
      @PhysicsOnline  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You just have to know that is is a high speed electron emitted from the nucleus - that is all.

    • @divplays1984
      @divplays1984 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      if the question comes up just say during a beta decay a neutron splits into a proton and electron. this electron is then ejected from the nucleus and is 'high energy/fast moving'.
