    Since the winters are cold here and the nearest range is an hour away I've had a block target set up in my basement all winter. Still don't shoot much since my lower back is jacked up and I can't stand for more than 30 seconds, and sitting for more than 5 minutes sucks too.

    I practice by shooting blank bale into the driver's door of my ex-wife's gold Lexus.
    Its really improved my form.

    For compound shooting I have D loop string attached to a three-pound weight. that's how I practiced with my release.

    So I basically get a giant piece of wood as a backing and then attach targets to this and place that in my garage?

      I changed our living room upstairs into a range for archery..the distance is about 14 almost 15 meters, I am happy because my father allowed me to be renovated. My family uses the downstairs living room. But I can only use light draw weights..28lbs and 32lbs..take down hunting recurve and ilf recurve ...

      @@itsjim2875 I can only wish I could shoot as well. My current bow is a piece of garbage, but I am planing on picking up a PSE NTX 35 se 70# with high let off module

      @Tim Gruver I have watched many world archery tournaments both recurve and compound. Also I meant no disrespect saying she was cute, I'm just an lonely old man who wishes he had a girl friend with similar interests. She is far to young for me and frankly she deserves better/younger.

  • @WithEachBreath

    Nice job Bryan, but did you catch KC on a bad day? She's usually much cheerier than this!

    • @notapplicable531
      @notapplicable531 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Given that her short-term and medium-term archery plans/goals are in tatters, I'd say she has every right and reason to be less than cheerful. Not to mention what is shown as alternatives are not really all that exciting or rewarding.
      However, thank you to the presenter at least for being upbeat in these trying times.

    And can't believe you would suggest someone draw their bow without an arrow.

  • @notapplicable531
    @notapplicable531 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You're not going to do the dry-draw/arrowless exercise with a Korean hornbow. That's only done once or twice after stringing/tuning a hornbow to see if the knots of string loops come back onto the nock pads in the proper place. As to shooting from short distances, that's a sure way to break bamboo arrows. There is still flexing going on in a bamboo arrow at those distances mentioned and when the arrow enters the bail, the energy that flexing represents will break an arrow at one of its nodes, nodes being the weakest points on the arrow's shaft.
    And why is someone commenting on a relatively obscure form of archery as it pertains to the subject of this video? Well, consider just how quiet and boring things are these days in the archery community due to you-know-what. I've spent 20 minutes kicking over this comment to see that grammar and content is correct. That's a twenty minute break from weighing, grading and cresting 70 bamboo arrows. The arrows are not a chore. Rather, I'm rationing, spreading out the time spent with them so the job lasts longer. I suppose equipment tinkering and tweeking is another way to pass the time though not as fulfilling as shooting a few arrows

  • @JeremyKonzJames
    @JeremyKonzJames 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Also, I'm not drawing my bow back without an arrow. A good way to dry fire and ruin a bow.

      if you are shooting a poundage that you're comfortable with and have good control, you won't have to worry about dry firing your bow, that's just my opinion though.

    • @SteelBuckeye
      @SteelBuckeye 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      If you can’t draw your bow back, hold it for 10 seconds, and slowly return to safe, your bow is too heavy for you or you are too weak for your bow.
