The stones had Two of the closest 15 best guitar players. Mick taylor on the solos is second only to Page or Cream Eric. And nobody beats Keith at in reef mastering and attitude.

I was lucky to see them at Sheffield Uni in the 1960s we had to squeeze in it was so crowded hardly visible from the back they were electric Eric Clapton already making his name around the music circuit 💗
I'd say so. And it looks like he lefts his aura for some great guitarist to follow. Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page in this group, Peter Green with Mayall an played with Duane Allman along with Cream an Blind Faith. I'd say that's one hell of a resume.
I had no idea just how good the yardbirds actually were, I was in primary school then so didn’t really appreciate it. They were well ahead of their time
Susan, l saw them in Llandudno a couple of years ago on one of those 1960s greats tours. Some of the original Yardbirds were in the line-up , including the original lead guitarist before Eric ,, and a couple of younger musicians. They were brilliant! If you get a chance go and see them.
Interesting artistic stage presentation...yardbirds were loose..Keith Relf good manly singer harmonica player.. clapton always great no matter what stage of career development..all yardbirds follow the blues to rave up...sweet footage!! Thank you! Reelinin the years66 much appreciated!!
I gathered around the scene at the Marquee etc to enjoy the Yatdbirds and even followed them around until I was blown away by a visiting American called Bo Diddley!
yardbirds and the Stones were the flame of hope for rock & blues legacy in those days. Eric ripped that tele. I only wished he had more disto like Keith R. had back in the day. Relf was amazing
Clapton use to play with The Yardbirds in our little old market town of Basingstoke around that time and later with John Mayals Bluesbreakers who were the resident band. Jeff Beck, Peter Green and other now familiar names that gained worldwide fame often played there as well.
@@lameduck3630 Funnily enough in recent years I became acquainted with a lady who went to school with him. As far as I know he didn't have any knee dusting episodes with her like he did with a girl between intermission's in Basingstoke's town hall on a regular basis.
Love how the “Lister bale elevator” and fordson dexter have centre stage 🤣 Perhaps this was recorded in Earl’s Court around the time of the royal Smithfield show🤔
Eric Clapton. In 1963, the musician joined the Yardbirds, where he remained until 1965. In addition to himself, Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck later completed the line-up. Amid blues covers originating in Chicago, the group reached the top of the English charts with the song “For Your Love” (1964), more focused on pop, which displeased him. John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers A few months after leaving the Yardbirds, the instrumentalist started playing with John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers, bringing his blues influences. However, shortly after the release of the album “Blues Breakers with Eric Clapton” (1966), Clapton saw Buddy Guy during a show and was impressed by his trio. So, upon meeting drummer Ginger Baker, he migrated to Cream. Cream Considered a supergroup due to the important career of its members, the band included in its lineup, in addition to the names mentioned, bassist Jack Bruce. Over the years, they released four albums: “Fresh Cream” (1966), “Disraeli Gears” (1967), “Wheels of Fire” (1968) and “Goodbye” (1969). Due to internal conflicts, they ended in 1968 - reuniting in 1993 and 2005. Blind Faith Thus, in 1969, came his participation in Blind Faith. Steve Winwood, Ginger Baker and Ric Grech were also part of the group. Its duration was short, yielding a single album of the same name, in addition to a tour. The debut took place at a free concert in Hyde Park (in London, England) packed with 100,000 fans.
Why aren’t these recordings available, you can here Eric cleaner but the lead style to follow in his later career is so noticeable l really liked his development’

Anyone that knows no better would think clapton was the only guitar player worthy of the name, I don't rate him that much, sometimes a player is taken to highs by a few obsessed fans and the sheep all follow along, Peter Green and Danny Kerwin I'd have any day, stevie Ray Vaughan, another one I'd say is the tops!...
I agree. But he had the looks and the ambition a d the intelligence that the others did not have. Especially the looks and the intelligence to attach himself to the giants like George and then the Stones....
The biggest shame during the Yardbirds' formative years was that they had *ERIC CLAPTON* playing rhythm guitar while Keith Relf was sucking and blowing on that damn harmonica!
There’s No other Group that can say they had 3 of the greatest guitarists ever.
Mayall's Blues Breakers? 🙂

Paul Carrack as well
These Brits had the Blues .
They learned well from the great Blues legends in the Good ol USA. This is outstanding.
