The fall colors will be long-gone and the lakes will be a little low, but the Maroon Bells may have a dusting of snow which is really beautiful. October is also a quieter time to visit.
Thank You for the video. I'm doing a 3 night trip beginning 9/22. Unfortunately, all the parking passes are gone. 4 days parking at Aspen Highlands is going to be $160+. It looks like the park and rides are only up to 24 hours. I found a Rio Grande parking garage that is $12/day. But i can't figure out if I can take public transportation from there to Aspen Highlands? Do you know? And do you have any other lower cost alternatives you can suggest?
Do you have the Maroon Bells Scenic Area selected as your starting point for your permit? If so, they will issue you a parking pass (even though the specifically say they don't). When you opt to print your permit, they ask if you need a parking permit as well. This was VERY unclear with the permit application. When I did it, I ended up reserving back to back 24hr passes only to find they asked if I wanted a parking permit when I went to print my permit. So essentially, I held on to a parking pass for no reason. Hopefully that helps. It's a real mess, but in the show notes I have a link to a guide that breaks everything down if you need more info.
@@megintheforestoutdoors Thank You so much for this information! I found the obscure hyper link hidden in my reservation details, and was able to reserve an overnight parking pass for the entire duration of my trip, using the permit reservation #. That just spared me a bunch of worry and headache. I truly appreciate your help.
Great informative video, shocking you have only 1.3k subscribers
Beautiful views. Great video. Thanks for sharing. 👍3
Thanks!
Can you clarify, do parking reservations open up on the same day as shuttle reservations so April 1st for July and August?
Really good information. 👍 👏
Thanks!
Can you recommend a one night backpacking trip in Colorado that's also close to a rafting location? Thx
How close is close? And what do you mean by rafting? Are you looking to packraft or are you looking to backpack, then go on a rafting trip?
just reserved a parking spot for oct 23rd, not sure its the good time to visit
