I use the word "exquisite" to describe much of Madison's music. She is so sensitive as a singer and player that she's able to convey great depth in her performances.
You have the vocal qualities and nuance of Joanie Mitchell, Jeff Buckley, and Bonnie Raitt. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to your music and you always do your covers with such amazing taste. Thanks for sharing your gift. I may be biased being a part of CC, but it doesn’t change the fact of the God given talent you have! Thank you for taking us on this musical journey with you!
I discovered your music via my passion for A. Bird - but this cover is really a gem Madison. Thank you for sharing . Love the closing guitar thing, very cool
Thank you so much for uploading this. This song is a gem and your covers always always pull my heartstrings. This was something I didn't know I needed.
Exquisite. Madison, everything you do is solid gold. I've alerted all my friends. Like another commenter below, I wondered what the guitar is. That's a strange one.
No, that's not her usual vintage Jazzmaster...this is a 60s Japanese sold body, perhaps a Kent or a Teisco. At the time they were teenage kinda crappy guitars--you might play that as your first guitar but as soon as you got some chops you'd want a Gibson or Fender or Guild or Gretsch...but in 2019 there's a vintage kinda downscale vibe and some of them has D'Armond gold foil pickups which break up tube amps nicely for a gritty sound. It's got a short 3/4 scale, so may have been a learner guitar. I'm assuming it's vintage and not a replica. Bottom line is: I don't know. You go to a vintage shop and try a bunch of guitars and see this for $250 (originally $90) and you say "this feels really neat...and it looks retro cool...so bad it's good...and then you plug it in and it sounds cool in a 60s way and BINGO, you're putting it in its case and driving it home. That's how you pick up a guitar like that.
simonsbuddy it’s kinda like history repeating itself. these are the kinda guitars that the Beatles and the yard birds started out on. I guess it has it’s desired sound such as retro and it certainly works for MC but as a player myself it’s not so desired as a feel great play great commodity.
It’s definitely a ‘60s Japanese instrument. I have a handful of Teiscos and Teisco-made Silvertones. Choose the right ones with the toneful pickups and it’ll give you sounds you can’t get with anything else.
Smooth as silk. Not really a big fan of solo performances, but, I'm completely Ok with this song and a number of others she does. Really interesting guitar parts make it more interesting from a fellow guitarist viewpoint.
De szép! Ilyen dalokat csak magamnak szoktam énekelni. Nem is tudom, hogy mások vajon elfogadnák-e...Ezek nagyon érzékeny hangok. It is so beautiful. I sing that kind of songs in myself only when I am alone. Thank you Madison. :)
I'm coming to the edge of the widest canyon My companions dear I started to question my manifest destiny My claim to this frontier I'm coming to the brink of a great disaster The end just has to be near The earth's spinning faster Whistles right past your- Whispers death in your ear Don't pretend you can't hear Don't pretend you can- I can hear your tendrils still digging For everything that's walked this earth once living Then to be exhumed and burnt to vapor Can we save her? Such a perfect song and such a perfect performance. I watched a program about Max Martin earlier today and of his success. Fuck that shit! Madison for president I say.
It's been Wow for a couple of years now. It started as a Wut? Then went to Cool! There was a Crikey or two in there somewheres. But now is just settled Ex-tend-ed WoW. Yesh Yesh Yesh..such is the way of the Heart. Look up The Porter's Gate - "Little Things With Great Love" and give thanks.
Samuel Stewart yeah, of course! In the second chorus, Bird sings “not a g**d**** care” and Madison repeated the line from the first chorus, “neither here nor there”
Yeah defo a Japanese guitar from the 60s. The japanese brand Teisco made guitars under lots of different names. If you had enough money to commission a line of guitars they would make them and put whatever name on the headstock. You see lots of identical guitars from this time with different brand names. She says in the live Paste studio video that the bridge has been replaced with a rubberised one thats why theres a nice staccato tone similar to Andrew Bird's violin.
This is insane. She’s so in tune with the song. Every note is essential.
Well she sang on Bird's album and performed live with him on that tour. You can see her on the KEXP live performance of the song.
This song was already exceptional and you made it exquisite
I use the word "exquisite" to describe much of Madison's music. She is so sensitive as a singer and player that she's able to convey great depth in her performances.
Hit LIKE, listen after. Thats how much faith I had in your solo version of this great song
Same.

Beautiful! I'm in tears.

Exquisite. Madison, everything you do is solid gold. I've alerted all my friends.

Lynn David Newton I think it’s a fender Jazz Master. Not top of the line like herself but I guess it serves her purpose.

Excellent work!!
5:08 mins well spent. sort of changed my day in a good way! great sounds and amazing voice...and the guitar skills. what else? just perfect.
Excellent!!!
Saw you in Nashville with Bird and you were mind blowing!!
Smooth as silk. Not really a big fan of solo performances, but, I'm completely Ok with this song and a number of others she does. Really interesting guitar parts make it more interesting from a fellow guitarist viewpoint.
Oh man I love this so much
Beautiful! Just beautifully interpreted
Haven't been here for a week now but cannot believe this video hasn't gone viral yet.
Great voice.

I'm coming to the edge of the widest canyon
My companions dear
I started to question my manifest destiny
My claim to this frontier
I'm coming to the brink of a great disaster
The end just has to be near
The earth's spinning faster
Whistles right past your-
Whispers death in your ear
Don't pretend you can't hear
Don't pretend you can-
I can hear your tendrils still digging
For everything that's walked this earth once living
Then to be exhumed and burnt to vapor
Can we save her?
Now she's in the air
Radical and free
Neither here nor there
She's obliged to no one
She's obliged to no one, yeah, yeah
I'm coming to the edge of a rising ocean
Such commotion and fear
Keeping all our eyes on what's on the horizon
And all that we hold dear
I'm coming to the brink of a great disaster
End just has to be near
The earth spins faster
Whistles right past your-
Whispers death in your ear
Don't pretend you can't hear
Don't pretend you can't-
I can hear your tendrils still digging
For everything that's walked this earth once living
Then to be exhumed and burnt to vapor
Can we save her?
She's in the air
Radical and free
Not a goddamn care
She's obliged to no one
She's obliged to no one
Don't pretend you can't hear
Don't pretend you can't hear.
I like how she sings very much like Andrew (original) but a little calmer here.
Reminds me of what Frankie will be
アンドリューバードより心に響く。彼女はもっと売れていい歌手だよね!
Such a perfect song and such a perfect performance. I watched a program about Max Martin earlier today and of his success. Fuck that shit! Madison for president I say.
This song was written for your voice. I love your interpretation even more than Andrew Bird's original!
Who the actual F**K downvoted this? She's amazing.
Madison U Sound So Beautiful ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ I Subscribed ❤️
最高に
hello! someone can say to me the model and brand of the guitar?
Is that one of those rubber bridge guitars? sounds so cool, almost like a pizzicato bowed instrument.
It alludes to Bird's own violin plucking. Excellent choice of instrument.
God damn.
Wow
It's been Wow for a couple of years now. It started as a Wut? Then went to Cool! There was a Crikey or two in there somewheres. But now is just settled Ex-tend-ed WoW. Yesh Yesh Yesh..such is the way of the Heart. Look up The Porter's Gate - "Little Things With Great Love" and give thanks.
@@SempreGumbyI didn’t know that was HER!!!
Thank you for mentioning that!
I love that you changed the line in the second chorus; huge Andrew Bird fan, but that line bugs me! What a great rendition this is
I can't find what change you're talking about. Can you identify it for me?
Samuel Stewart yeah, of course! In the second chorus, Bird sings “not a g**d**** care” and Madison repeated the line from the first chorus, “neither here nor there”
She did. That to honor her Parents and her Creator
Niiice. What kind of guitar is that?
Jesse Gyger I think it’s a fender jazz master. I can’t help but wonder why she doesn’t play top of the line instruments
Jesse Gyger she says its. a 1965 japanese guitar in another vid didnt catch the brand though something obscure and cheap
Inter-Mark, sometimes sold under the name Pleasant
Yeah defo a Japanese guitar from the 60s. The japanese brand Teisco made guitars under lots of different names. What is this guitar called?
Lucky
real ones know she actually sang on this track (& album)!!!
Beautiful...
Also... I want the fucking chords!!!
Oh Good she's using the Sputnik mic again. Her voice is so clear this way...
Ok..? Ok...
