PLEASE REMEMBER: The rankings and matchup spreads are based on my personal opinion. If you look at online rankings, japanese tournament results, or even other creators tier lists, you will likely see different opinions / statistics. When I do an opinion-based video, I try my best to resist defaulting to popular opinions or what the statistics say, and truly give my unadulterated thoughts on the topic.
I would also like to note that this video was recorded roughly 4 days before publishing, so already some of my matchup evaluations have changed in my NAIC format testing. In specific I’m confident in correcting my estimation of the gardy vs lugia matchup in the video. I would put this into the “close” range for both decks. In addition to matchups, the uncertainty of Dragapult variants and lists needing optimization likely caused me to undersell dragapult a bit with ranking it at 7. If I was doing the ranks again today I'd likely put dragapult around number 4. One final note on contextualizing this presentation is that I have personally been preparing for what I think the top tables will be throughout day 1 and day 2, as my goal is to win the event. This has certainly created biases within my understanding of matchups based on techs I assume will be present and the decks I’m predicting Day 2/Top 8 regulars to bring.
With all that being said, myself and my editor will be taking a short break from planned content for the month of June. We strive to bring you informative and entertaining content for the game we all love so much, and will be back to doing so after a short time off. I will have a couple of uploads for pre-Naic including this one, but I’m not planning on much more past that.

Idk if it’s just me, but I feel like everyone says the miraidon deck is one of the best, but no one plays it. I’ve only played against it once since TWM came out.
It's honestly not that great especially since it lost flaaffy. It does ok against Lugia but then again I play Lugia and if you attack with cincinno there isn't much they can do to respond.
Popular ≠ good
From my personal experience of playing maridon I do pretty good against most dragapult decks as well as Gardeur and Lugia I still get stomped by Charizard though

I just don't understand how Miraidon is so high. The best thing it does is hit lugia for weakness. It's damage cap is relatively low. Lugia has always been unbeatable if it sets up but it's so brick prone it's hard to see it lasting so many rounds.

I expect Gardy, Pidgeot Control, Lugia, Raging Bolt, Lost Zone Box, Dragapult, Zard to be the meta one with an X-0 or X-1-ish record would face later in day 1 and in day 2. Looking at that, I identify that Miraidon has 4 favored, 2 close, 1 unfavored matchup out of the archetypes i predict to be at the top tables.
Honest question: do you think the new/upcoming tool for discard energy attachment will be a boost for Miraidon templates?
My buddy is replacing one of his Tera zards for the brave wing Zard. Along with Gouging fire for the Ogrepons.
Is the turbo hand meta spread similar to miraidon's? If so, what's the functional reason?
I reached Arceus League playing only Regidraco Vstar-Ogerpon ex, it's gotten better with the new expansion, for me easily top 7
that ogerbolt list has 4 ultra balls not sure if that's too taxing on the discard. especially you don't have super rods in there too. I'd rather replace 2 ultraballs with 2 super rods instead. it's just too good with earthen vessel.
I'm betting on Greninja Ex Control to be the underdog on the next tournament and actually performing really well
Hey celio, appreciate your content! You seem to be the only one that actually is liking the don in the meta (which i agree with, it has a place).
That being said, how do you tackle the bolt matchup? In my testing it feels pretty unfavored. Are we assuming we are running double zapdos, or a vit band, or the blood moon ursaluna?
Nevermind! Saw your thoughts on the other commenter. Ive been trying all the techs and im pretty sold on the luna and share as well. I cut the charms, dont really see the use for them into most matchups if youre prize racing
im just glad that I beat someone using Charizard EX deck using Giratina Lost Origins deck both decks are so good but in battle, luck is needed.
based miraidon at 3rd, it’s worth running a second zapdos imo for the oger bolt match up to hit 240
I noticed that Gardevoir was in the Unfavored category for most of these decks.

I haven't played since 151 came out and it seems like the meta hasn't changed a lot. Lost box has been a deck FOREVER now. When are we getting a rotation?

you discard them and summon them using lugias vmax ability then use arch's ability to attach 2 special energy to one pokemon once per turn its best if you can summon 2 archs then you can use that ability twice per turn

it gets wrecked by raging bolt/ogerpon. Honestly i think raging bolt is way too OP, would like to see a nerf somehow with some cards
How do you usually play the ogrebolt matchup as bird control? I have struggled quite a bit in that matchup.
Shove up Mimikyu initially to deny prizes. You can't sit behind mimi all game or they will eventually draw a boss and OHKO bird. So once you get setup you want to go on with Luxray + cape to pressure their resources. Then you want to prize trade with your attackers and combine it with Iono. Also can try a retreat lock angle if you can hit some switches early. Wasteland + Luxray is my favorite play in that matchup

What's the function of the 1 Drifloon in the Gardevoir EX deck? I'm a beginner so I don't understand the purpose.
Drifloon has an attack that does 30 damage for each damage counter on it. With Gardy's ability, you put energy on it which builds up damage on drifloon. At max damage, you're doing 180 without bravery charm and 300 with. If you combo that with munkidori to move 3 counters, you're oneshotting almost every pokemon in the metagame.
I just started playing (first tcg ever) and started out with the free Chien Pao ex on PTCGL (w a few changes). Do you think it's not worth learning to play the game w this deck? I only plan to play on ptcgl and eventually try local irl casually.

@@confuzzlld hahaha everyone loves a good hyperfixation. Only tip is make sure nobody takes out your baxcalibur. As long as you keep him safe in the back and build multiple you can always pull chien pao out of discard pile if it faints! It’s a pretty straight forward deck to use and will find alot of success. Only thing you have to be careful about is the low HP as a lot of things can one shot you lol

Honest opinion everyone is sleeping on future deck I just got arcuis league with it online! Like it’s an amazing deck and easily beats lugia and gardivor and if you want I’ll share my best deck list

Am I the only one not seeing the Miraidon and Lugia upheaval that so many have been saying is happening this meta? Like, I see Lugia, but its not like its destroying everyone or the best deck in the room by a landslide. I just don’t get it. And Miraidon I just flat out barely see other than every locals always have like… those 1-2 people that play some Turbo Iron Hands ex deck like it was their god given right to take 3 Prize cards as often as possible.
I also don’t know if Lugia is actually that big of a power house. It feels like how Dialga or to a lesser extent Charizard does, where some hands are borderline unbeatable, but also like Dialga, sometimes the deck loses to itself and you can do nothing about it.
I will be playing Lugia quite a bit over the next few days, so check back in here after... Interesting thoughts that you shared though!!!

I agree that was a misevaluation on my part. After working with miraidon more I think this is either close or miraidon favored.
I just went to a tournament with giratina and got 6th place and beat almost all of those decks and now tina is trash

I suggest playing vitality band or a second zapdos. I’ve also tried exp share to keep more energy on board and bloodmoon ursaluna for an easier ohko.

Don’t worry so much about these stall apologists. YGO has the same problem with their Stall players where they think everyone is upset with the deck because they can’t beat it.

Of the top 5 decks, 2 of them are brainless highroll gambling decks. The other 2 are hard Control. This is not fun.
It’s funny that you’re complaining about the brainless decks while also complaining about the polar opposite control which forces perfect play from its pilot.
@CeliosNetwork I will agree that Pidgeot Control is complex and does require good play. I don't regard Snorlax Stall the same way.
The main point was that 4 of the top 5 decks are awful to play against. Most matchups against Lugia and Miraidon come down to, did they hit the nuts, or whiff everything. Against Control, its just a battle to play the game and/or respect the match up by shoving more outs that turn into bricks in other match ups. Not a good time.

Not as good as it used to be but has still gotten more first place finishes recently than alot of other decks
And dragapult matchup is good. Dragapult is a slow setup deck and mirraidon is very aggressive
