    Here I am just some guy traveling 2300 miles to visit Oregon. Half the time on the coast and the other half in the high desert. Jaws posted a short on the coastal city that we were going to be staying. I thanked him for the preview and mentioned I was going to the desert for some collecting. He wrote back making suggestion were to go and other areas that may have been impassible. He asked if I was going to Glass Butte? Of course I was. He suggested a day and I met him there. We met and he gave me tour. Who does this anymore for someone they never met? Thank Jaws and say hello to Michael for me. These guys are the real deal.

      now you know some of the good spots to go. But there are many many other places. Just be careful not to collect on the claims.

    Jaws, I really appreciate your willingness to share locations for folks to park and begin looking for the various kinds of obsidian at Glass Buttes. I plan to visit the area later this month, and have a semi limited window of time to hunt in. Having a starting point in that vast area will help with best use of my time.
    I didn't see a GPS coordinate for the Tri-flow area you visited. If that one is off limits or a claim, I understand.
    Again, I really appreciate your support in the rock hounding community. 😊

      I chose not to as a GPS point for the triflow after I saw what was happening there. Plus unless you have a rig with good ground clearance, you may not want to go there.

      @@1JawsJr I completely understand.
      I do have a slightly lifted Tacoma on 33" mud tires, and desert suspension.

    We used to go in there off Hy 20 when there were only two ruts for a road in. You couldn't take a car in. I raised my 5th wheel and my truck was already high so we pretty much went where we wanted to. It was the late 90s.

    Great video. I’m about 90% blind Going to hit glass butte this fall before I lose my last 10% of vision. Hope I find some good stuff. Thanks.

    Thank-you for mentioning Rock Tumblers for Autism. My grandson is Autistic ad LOVES Rocks. He has recently decided he wants to learn to knap and is enjoying practicing. Is the opalite at Glass Buttes? We have been there several times and have not seen it there.

    I've been up there a couple of times now, following the various hand drawn maps that are floating around the internet, but this video is going to be the resource for my next trip.

    Hiya Scott, What a awesome video! It was funny at times, and beautiful at other times. But what I wouldn't mind having is a piece of Rainbow obsidian, I know you put the coordinates to get there on our own but, I don't think I will ever get to go on my own because of my health.
    I had a awesome time watching your video.
    I hope you and the guys that made the trip, have a awesome blessed weekend. Cya!

    Hey Jaws thanks for all the info on glass buttes. Maybe I over looked the gps coordinates for the tri-flow area. Are they in the video?

    • @1JawsJr
      @1JawsJr  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I did not include them because the road is not durable for all cars. A couple of days after I was there a person damaged their car that should have not been in there. So I chose not to include them.

    Thanks for the GPS coordinates, I am returning for my second time but without the family to hopefully have better luck finding the areas to get the higher quality stuff. Can I camp with a tent at the campground your RV is at?

    • @1JawsJr

      Obsidian may cut through the bottom of the tent, just be careful.

    New to rock collecting; is there a limit to how much obsidian can be taken?

    • @1JawsJr
      @1JawsJr  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The BLM recommends 25 pounds per person per day, 250 pounds per year.

      The issue is the cost of shipping. Davis Creek Rainbow Obsidian is the only obsidian I am selling. If it was not for the cost of shipping, I would be happy to sell some to you so you could enjoy it.
