@@boristhemouse5507 Unfortunately I never played the 850/100 but I heard a lot of great things about it. The e840 is still a great and loud Poweramp, but I also like to pair my Preamp with the FX-Return of one of my Amps. Especially the little Fireball25 with it's two big 6L6 Tubes is really great for that. And for making your Modeler loud aswell 🤫
@@boristhemouse5507 nowadays 99% of Cabinets are miced up and amplified via the PA so loudness shouldn't be a problem at all 😉 But the 840 has 50W of Tube Power and a Gain-Knob at the front which put's a shitload of extra Volume on top of it's Input. So you can get crazy loud with it. I used it recently on a Festival with a Fullstack of 4x12 Mesa-Cabs with the Stereo-Output and went just to 10 o' clock....craaazy loud on Stage 😅
@@gerdhery I'm debating on going with the Engl power amp with a Mesa Rectifier cab or the Laney FRFR cab for my Axe FX3 MK2 Turbo setup. What is your personal take?
nice video. I personally think the sound from the rack is better. Of course it would also be interesting to compare them in the mix. But of course something like that is really time intensive. thanks for the video. 🤘 PS: I saw something on FB. Are you planning a video about the new one too?
@@defa24 ah yes of course, I'm cutting a short "Vlog - Pick up my Signature Guitar" right now and I will do a proper Demo for my new beast 🤟🏻😁 Stay tuned Bro
Fireball is hard to beat. Insane low end, excellent noise gate- needs no boost. 530 doesn't even compare. Now up against the 570 preamp- that one is tighter, more versatile and more precise. Makes my Fireball the backup
fireball seems smoother and maybe fatter overall, the rack setup seems thinner (which can help with the tightness aspect) i've never really used tube preamp/rack setups, but i've read that there's some magic in typical amps where everything is within the same enclosure, if that's to do with how things are wired and setup , i can't say, i'd take the fireball here, probably lighter to carry too 😄
The FB does indeed feels fatter. You can adjust the "Fatness" in the Rack, but it just keeps the tightness more than the FB. The Rack weighs more because of the wood Rack, my Gator 3U Rack weighs way less but do not look as good 😅
@@gerdhery I believe it's the preamp that makes it thinner, I used to own it and it was nice but thin overall, then I got myself the Engl E570 preamp which was on another league in terms of tone, fatness and tightness
@@gerdhery I think the less compressed tone and low mid controle help a lot for versatile playling like rythmic and lead, i hope to get one of them one day ^^
Which Amp wins the race? Are they similar or completely different? Please let me know in the comments.
Dude, I just love the ENGL tones, in general! Great demo
@@jasonstallworth thanks!!
More from Engl and other Amps are coming soon. Stay tuned 🤘🏻😁
ENGL should send you every amp they make for high gain comparison videos
That would be great ❤️
I like the note clarity of the e530 more. Sounds very tight and aggressive! Keep up the good work.
@@kendude9 Yes, it's also my favourite 🤫 and thank you
Nice demo amigo !
i'm so much fan of the Fireball, but on your video I prefer the E530 rack.. :)
@@clementmorin4962 Gracias 😎
Yeah, I'm also more towards the Rack 😉
I wish they still made the 100w 850/100 power amp. They are such a pain in the ass to find now days.
