I really like this but there are 2 things that I would add: 1. Since it’s been confirmed that Captain Rex was at the Battle of Endor, I can see Anakin having a big heart-to-heart with his old right-hand man at some point before or after the trial 2. After becoming one with the Force on Typhon, I’d imagine Anakin would be powerful enough to see that Palpatine’s spirit had survived and was already remolding the Empire into the First Order and possibly could foresee his future grandson Ben Solo’s own fall to the Dark Side
TBH if anakin survived he would simply have to fake his own death. As vader he is a mass murderer, and in the rebublics eye there is no forgiveness for his war crimes. He would have to exile, and hope he's not caught up with
If Anakin survived, he could’ve come out publicly and lied that the empire held him hostage for 2 decades and tortured him while lying about him being dead and that Luke found and rescued him on the second Death Star minutes before its destruction. He could’ve also said the empire’s torture is why he’s disfigured.
Leah was the head general, a princess, & one of the most senior ppl in the rebellion. She funded most of it as well. Luke destroyed the 1st death star, aided in the destruction of the emperor & empire. He's also basically a god. Anakin was a very popular war hero, & killed the emperor. He gets a pass whether ppl like it or not.
I've been a fan since 77, I often pondered 'what if' Vader had survived. Vader is not only the greatest 'baddie' of all time, his story shows anyone can be saved, anyone can be redeemed if there is love and hope. I always found that inspiring. Thank you for doing this alternate take, you did a good job. May David Prowse and James Earl Jones who gave us this amazing character rest in peace at one with the Force.
I doubt they would put him in armor. He would simply wear jedi robes and have a respirator, if for some reason new republic doctors were unable to heal him enough to breath on his own. How much of the Darth Vader suit was actually necessary to keep him alive? I bet the Emperor kept him in it even though there was technology available that could completely heal him. He was probably intentionally kept in a weakened state as the Emperor knew that fully healthy, Vader would be a threat to him.
If I was putting Darth Vader on trial, I would remove his helmet, his armour, and all his artificial limbs. Then I would secure him in a transparent life support pod, and sedate him heavily so he couldn't use the Force. And the pod would be equipped with a remote control device so that his sedative dosage level could be administered remotely. Only then would it be safe to bring him into a courtroom.
This is almost perfect, the only flaw I can find is that I don't think Anakin would ask for forgiveness, he wouldn't believe he deserves it, but would simply ask to be allowed to right his wrongs and atone for what he's done instead of simply being executed. A lifetime of penance and servitude.
@@timonsolus that's definitely a possibility, he could very well see his life as Vader deserving of death and become suicidal. But I like to think he'd see his existence now as a second chance at life and he would understand that guilty as he may feel he shouldn't waste that gift.
I love this! You should definitely write more fan fiction!! I would love to see a video about “if Padme had convinced Anakin to go with her when she went to him on Mustafar, what would Obi Wan have done?” It’s a question I’ve debated for a long time. Obi Wan would have to choose between Master Yoda and the brother he loves. Great video as always and may the force be with you!🥰
I honestly think Obi-Wan would let him go and help them fake their deaths so they can hide away without the emperor and the jedis being able to find them
Interesting fanfic...but I can't see them just forgiving him if he lived. Dude is just responsible for so much mass murder, so many war crimes, and so much general evilness that it would be kind of ridiculous to let him off. Think of all the people whose family and friends he murdered. "That wasn't me, that was Vader, I'm Anakin now" just isn't a defense that's gonna fly. Anakin is still responsible for his actions when it's all said and done, can't just pin everything on Vader.
Lol yeah, I basically tried to think of a reason that the New Republic would allow him to live... In the Infinities comic, he just shows up in white armor and is like "I can assist you in finding the Emperor" and everyone is like ok cool. I figured the only way he lives and is still somewhat "punished" is with exile and the Barash Vow.
@@RetneysHolocron I think it was a good idea in terms of running Vaders redemption through the senate. However I think it more likely they would demand capital punishment for Vader since prison would be easily broke out of with Vaders power. Though I think it would be cool is after the second death star was destroyed, if Luke took Vader to a secluded sector and rebuilt his armour (though surely there wouldn't be many who did not know who Vader was), THEN Vader declared to Luke alone he would take the Barash Vow and go into exile, leaving the galaxy to believe he was killed on the death star, that would be an open ended "he could come back or we may never see him again" kind of ending. Just my 2c in the moment.

@@RetneysHolocron : That white armoured 'Jedi' ending to the Infinities comic was completely unrealistic and ridiculous IMO. There's no way the Alliance leadership would allow Vader to just walk around free - what's to stop him turning back to the dark side at any moment? The whole redemption scenario could be a deception planned by the Emperor! At most, the Alliance would interrogate Vader to find out the Emperor's location.
Ive said this forever. It was too late for him. He has to pay for his crimes even if he comes back to the jedi. He cant just walk off into the sunset with his boy. I believe that annakin had already resolved to go out in a blaze of glory after the conversation with luke when he compliments the new light sabre. I do have one gripe about this, though it's about something that isnt very well known. Luke was never taught the concept of a "Light Side" to the Force. In truth, none of the six movies ever explicity mentioned that terminology. The "Light Side" was a term that retroactively came to be by popular conception. But as far as the saga of movies is concerned, there is only terminology for The Force and The Dark Side.
Umm...yeah. They talk about the dark side of the force which by its implication means the side the Jedi use is the light side. Yoda literally tells Like in ESB about falling to the dark side. Falling from where? from what? That's semantics.
@@JMFBizzle That is jumping to a biased conclusion. From an in universe perspective the Jedi teach that the Force is a natural phenomenon inherent to all known life. They teach that it is also even more alive than any complex and interconnected ecosystem, that in some ways it is a macro organism that all life is a part of, and in other ways it is the wellspring from where all life originates and returns upon death. They also believe that the Force has a will of it's own. It is what they turn to for guidance and enlightenment. The Sith largely share in that same understanding, but they believe that the only true freedom is through power and they covet the ability to bend any resources to their personal will. To the Sith the Force is a slave, fit to satisfy their goals and desires. Power, dominion, knowledge, and ultimately eternal life are just a few of the things they want. But that is gluttonous, parasitic, and inequitable and the Force would never willingly give so much to so few. In essence the Jedi teachings want to learn from the Force in it's natural state and the Sith's Dark Side is a philosophy about exploiting a natural resource for personal gain. To call the Jedis' point of view the Light Side uproots their most fundamental understanding of the Force.

Luke told them where he is to be found (Tython). so expect a small army of mercs, bounty hunters, crusaders, justice seekers etc trying to hunt him down. Even with legal protection it is the kind of thing that could spark another civil war. Maybe this could spark a sequel?
I believe that they would make a positive example of him by not judging him to harsh punishments, since this would mean for further Jedi's who turned to the dark side that even if they had Redemption, they would be doomed, so they would continue with their evil deeds because there is no turning back, if they knew how bad Vader who killed the emperor was treated after his Redemption.
I’m pretty sure the Lord Vader trial would be optional. No prison in the galaxy would be able to hold any one with the ability to call on the terrible power of the dark side
Vader's sentence could have been to be confined in a tight space that merely kept him alive and to act essentially as a holocron for the new jedi order.
What if Rako Hardeen shot and killed Anakin instead of Obi-Wan and when Ahsoka finds out that the jedi council made that plan she turns into the emperor's apprentice?

I encourage you to make your own characters and stories by being this generation’s Edgar Rice Burroughs, Phillip K Dick, George Lucas, etc. Heaven knows we need one. :)
I think the reality of public sentiment would be similar to Hitler surviving & addressing the Nuremberg Trials as a born again Jew. Anakin would be assassinated, Leia would be thrown out of the Senate & Luke would have been banned from starting a new Jedi Order. After seeing what happened to Anakin, the Jedi would be ostracized from society. They wouldn't take that risk of it happening again. Luke would now be a target as well. Vader shared responsibility for the genocide of entire races, destruction of planets. Be it in this universe or another the capacity to forgive such atrocities is next to none, chosen one or not. Anakin would have been hidden, his mask completely changed to show his face & breathing apparatus. He'd likely serve as a minder to Luke as he started his new order. Leia would never have forgiven him for destroying Alderaan. I did enjoy this though, made me think. I might be too pessimistic on our capacity to forgive, but I doubt it.
@@allanchrist666I said, 'public sentiment' would be like....Pick any dictator you like responsible for mass murder who changes their identity/philosophy/religion before trial - the public would react the same way.

Bro would get roasted harder than when he was on mustafar. Death for sure. Death wont even begin to makeup for all the pain he has caused. 😮
Very nice!
He’d most likely be sentenced to death
Good job lad 👍
I cant imagine the senate allowing merely exile be his punishment. I cant imagine Leia forgiving him either for the destruction of her home planet
I really liked your writing. Some ‘what ifs’ in Star Wars can be nauseating but not this. You have a natural flair for writing Science Fiction.
Not like Hitler was Gen MacArthur or Pattons long lost father either. 😂
@@allanchrist666I said, 'public sentiment' would be like....Pick any dictator you like responsible for mass murder who changes their identity/philosophy/religion before trial - the public would react the same way.
In the Truce at Bakura novel Anakin's force ghost comes to Leia to ask for his forgiveness.
@@jeffreyconner2937 and she tells him to clear off if I remember rightly.
@@mattyrossfilmsIn the follow up book “Tatooine Ghost” Leia learns about Anakin’s life through Shmi’s recordings and begins to understand him better. She eventually comes to forgive him after learning how hard his life was as a slave.
Viewers: This is absurd!
Disney: *I will take your entire stock*
I enjoyed it ..., Thankyou
