    When i graduated high school my step dad gave me a r.v and a motorcycle. Best gift ever! He knew i was a traveler.. And knew it would be cheeper to have a bike once i was parked to venture out with. The r.v had a walnut tree fall on it durning a tornado. But thank God i still had the bike and still do. Its a 1964 sears bike. It still runs! My step dad my be gone as well as the r.v.but neither will be forgotten!

    TWIN STAR, CM class Two cylinders, that's a shift lever that fell off ! Both pistons go up and down at the same time, but only one fires, with a counter weight that between them on the crank shaft, that's why it runs so smooth.

    Congrats on your new ride! I know you’re a thinking guy, however the only other minimal gear I found with over 300K miles of riding is a pair of gloves...I know from sad experience that the first thing that touches the ground will be your hands if you fall over, or go down...think about it. Keep up with the great videos and ride/travel safe.

    Hey, if it is a single cylinder cycle as you say, why does it have two exhaust pipes, one on each side?
    You lost the clutch pedal bolt? I think that is the shift lever? The carb is on the handlebar, no I think that is the choke.

  • @thegonzofiles2014
    @thegonzofiles2014 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    The carburetor is on the engine, not the handlebar. My wife said is so cute & small, where are the training wheels, lol.

    • @nomadicfanatic
      @nomadicfanatic  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I said it's carburated, and then I reached up to the choke because that's what you'll do when you start it up. Nobody is going to go down and massage the carburetor before starting...

    Do not install an alarm. NOBODY wants to steal a Rebel 250. NOBODY. Plus, the extra weight will slow it down.

    • @nomadicfanatic
      @nomadicfanatic  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The alarm weighs 12oz. That's like 5 tater tots. And you make this claim despite all 3 of my last bikes being attempted stolen. All 3. Honda PCX scooter, Yamaha TW2000, and Honda Grom... I showed you each time how the alarm thwarted each theft caught on camera. I don't think I care much for you opinion since your comment makes no factual sense to begin with, but hey - I tried.

    Twin Cylinder..great buy! What you called the clutch pedal was the gear shifter. The choke is what you called the carburetor.

    • @n1spirit
      @n1spirit 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, last time I rode a motorcycle the clutch was ALWAYS on the handlebar using the left hand. Gear-shifter down below, front brake on the handlebars using right hand, rear brake under the right foot. I'll be embarrassed but not surprised if any of these have changed but after all, it's been almost forty years since I've ridden. (Old fart here) I too caught the mistaken reference to "single cylinder" (those are two cylinder bikes).

  • @satonjars
    @satonjars 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    While unloading, if you shift the bike into gear, you can use the clutch lever to control the bike rather than the brake. That may be easier than reaching across the handlebar with the bike so high.

    I’m really happy to see that you got another real motorcycle.
    That “clutch pedal” you’re referring to is actually the gear shift pedal.
    That bike actually has a two cylinder engine, as evidenced by the two exhaust pipes coming out of the heads.
    12,000 miles is really not too much for a motorcycle. I just turned over 60,000 miles on my ‘06 Kawasaki KLR 650. She’s still going strong, and gets 62 mpg.

    Hello Eric, you can cover the tank scratches by adding a basket (or the like) for Jax to ride in. Now you need your colors, a large "NOMADIC FANATIC" patch like on the side of your RV to be sewn on your leather jacket.

  • @BTBRVReviews

    Eric, you need to remember that the actual weight being applied to the receiver will be FAR FAR greater than 500lbs when you are going over the road. You will likely experience times where the downward forces will exceed even 1000+ lbs. I think you are risking a major failure of your rear receiver if you drive extended periods with that bike back there. I know some folks with Class A and Super Cs do this, but that's generally because they have a 800-1000lb hitch rating on a much larger receiver.

    Nice starter bike. Enough power to be fun but not enough power to get you into trouble. My recommendations..... Open face helmet with clear flip up face shield. If you ever ran into a bee or a piece of gravel or a rock dislodged from a truck tire at sixty MPH you will appreciate a good face shield. Also, of you ever have the misfortune of hitting the ground the first thing that will contact the pavement will be your hands. Mechanic Gloves sold at the Harbor freight are cool and comfortable and offer good protection and a sturdy set of shoes are a must. The guy at the MC Rider channel always says.... "dress for the crash". Have fun but you probably know that motorcycles can be dangerous. Ride carefully.

    Good deal on your motorcycle Eric! I bought a 1983 Oldsmobile Ninety Eight Regency 4 door sedan in 2004 for only $500 in good running condition and almost 16 years later it's still running good and the only thing I had to change during those 16 years was the water pump, radiator, water hoses, belts, tires, oil, filters and that's it. Older vehicles are cheaper, easier to work on and built to last if you take good care of them.

    Oh My! I loved my Rebel. Gosh, it's the best bike I ever rode. Good on gravel too. Your future rides will bring back so many good memories. Besides, it looks so cool. (by the way that was 50 years ago) Time flys!!!!

    That Video made me miss riding and building motorcycles and as everyone has counted the cylinders I'll be the PIA about the shift lever it's not a clutch that's on the handle bars LOL.

    That's cool. I'm not into motors, more like into things you can pedal off-road, but I can feel the sense of freedom you're getting. Ride safely.

      Aircraft regularly have two plugs per cylinder, but two exhaust pipes per cylinder seems a bit much, as Radar said....

    #355 "Then Came Eric" Reminds me of a old tv motorcycle show back in the 1970's. Just be careful riding it, and take care of the road surface. I rode the HD motorcycles and had much fun. Triumph's were fun, too!

    yep kind of laughing because he mentions several times it is a single cylinder not a gaafe,,, on the other hand he is a small guy so the bike probably fells good to him great buy at $600

    I had a 86 rebel back in high school. Everyone loved that bike. I rode one a couple years ago again. Me being 5'11", it's way to small for me, but still a great bike. Can't go wrong with a Honda. I've owned several. Never an issue.

    It's a gear shifter Eric, not a clutch pedal. Clutch is in your left hand. Twin cylinder too - big hint, two exhaust pipes. Minor details since you know how to ride. Nice bike, great deal.

    My friend bought one for his wife, she was a beginner and also very short. The bike was perfect for her, she was able to ride around town and on the highway and it handled great! Honda's, (and Japanese manufacturers in general), are very reliable if maintained properly. I would suggest adding a gas additive to help clean the carburetor. NIce Bike!

    Congratulations Eric!
    You didn't mention tires, as a long time bike rider (47 years) and owner of many bikes, first thing I always did was buy new tires! Buying a used bike is like wearing someone else's sneakers....we don't wear them out the same. Check the age of the tires too....I've purchased bikes with tires that looked great but were old and about to blow out!
    Be safe!
    GOD Bless. 🙏💕🙏
