I am loving Science Saru for doing so much good touches of animation. Like, making all the characters be able to show raw emotion, not just letting the characters go muppet mode or just being goofy, no full on ugly crying, heart wrenching emotions that hit harder than some stupid "pretty girl/boy" cry. And the little baby's face is the cutest because she was able to show more emotion as well, we see her have those chubby lines that little ones have and those little ugly angles and everything. It's so good and everything lined solely...to fucking punch me in the heart and just make me ugly cry while eating food!!
Momo and Aira both received all those memories. Turbo Granny has been around for centuries and has become pretty jaded. She's not exactly evil, but she's more than a little sassy and just tells things like it is. And this is a pretty common occurrence, sometimes it's a romantic comedy, sometimes action sci-fi and sometimes horror and tragedy.
This is the only reaction I’ve seen so far that caught that Acro Silky jumped to her death. It’s explicit in the manga, I think Japanese broadcast regulations made the anime adapt it as implicit. Beautifully done scene but seems a little hard for non-manga readers to follow.
Honestly the audible thud should've gave it away, but yeah I saw the actual manga panel after vs what they put in the episode, so definitely not as obvious.
exactly what I thought as well, I feel if I hadnt read the manga I wouldnt of picked up on that and kinda dissapointed they didnt adapt that one manga panel but cant complain at all, the rest of the episode was done beautifully
Her reuniting with the daughter in the afterlife, and Aira saying "Take them to a kinder world" sadly confirms that she too was sadly killed. Insane direction. What a beautifully tragic & heartbreaking episode. Absolute peak!
this episode made me so sad, but man the attention to detail was damn near unmatched, the mom literally did everything she could to make her daughter happy, just to have the yakuza take the daughter over an unpaid debt and I think the story is hinting at they didn't spare the daughter as well... truly tragic
The animation in this episode was so beautiful and the small details like we have pov of one eye only and things like that , but I was crying too damn much to notice it at my first watch
Episode of the season right year. This comedic fucking anime had no business dropping such an emotional piece today but they did and damn, was it a tear-jerker? Dandadan is a masterpiece
For clarification as to what happened to the daughter, as it isn't mentioned in the anime, it is heavily implied that she died as well at some point, as Aira's "let them go to a kinder world" speech ends with the daughter and mother together, looking towards the stars.
For conformation that anime watchers miss on first watch to make it even more depressing. She lived alone with her daughter and wanted the best for her and saw the dress (possibly for ballet) maybe cause she never had the economy to strive for her dreams as a kid. She forced herself to work two diffrent jobs and not only that also work as a sex worker (The hotel putting money on the side was her getting paid after a night). She went trough all this effort to give her happiness aka the dress she gave her. The dance with the sky glaring on the roof was the lead up to her ending it all, jumping off the roof doing what gave her the most happiness, in her final moments jumping off that roof. You guys should definitely go checkout some of these panels of the manga (I think for censory purpose they didn't clearly show her on the roof, but the is an amazing panel of her final moments jumping of that roof overlooking the scenary, its just truly amazing. It's just amazing that they could do all this in one episode with the emotions. It is most likely yakuza (japanese maffia) owing them money, they realized she didn't have enough and took her kid as the rest of the payment. Sadly yakuza aren't connected to anything good and mostly likely got trafficked. In the manga we get a panel that shows her and the daughter in heaven so they most likely got together at the end, hopefully!
Guess what? This isn't even the saddest backstory DanDaDan has to offer. Acro Silky' tragic past is just the first layer of DanDaDan' plethora of depressing backstories.
It's amazing how this episode just told a story with music, but no voice acting, yet you knew exactly what was happening. The images convey so much emotion. It's a very creative way of storytelling
They're so optimistic thinking the little girl is still alive or grown up and happy somewhere. The reality is she was probably trafficked, and if she is still alive, she's probably in some dingy room somewhere waiting on the next John and then her drug fix.
The anime didn't show this explicitly, but since this was shown in the manga ill just let you know. Daughter is 💀 They reunited in heaven (as a lil girl) the same time she crumbled away in the manga
It hits so much harder when a goofy show does something emotional like this as opposed to a depressing show doing it. Wonderful episode, what interested me in Dan Da Dan, is its craziness and comedy but I'm down for more deep and emotional storylines from this show.
I'm impressed. I've watched a few reactions for this episode and you're the first ones who recognized what that dance scene was showing. Other commenters have filled in the blanks for you. This was gut-wrenching in the manga. It's a million times harder in the anime. Neither one of them survived. Tell you what else, this made me miss my mom. She's been gone a long time, but you never stop missing them.
She did everything she could for her daughter.... that's what you call a mother. Sad that she went through all of it for the Yakuza to take that all away.
Except the llorona killed her children and hunts for others. The silk maiden is just a spirit looking for their lost child dancing sadly in the streets.
I feel that Turbo Granny became desensitized to other spirits and only say the truth even if it cold-blooded. She been around for some time now. Amazing episode.
She's the oldest spirit and has seen it all. Also, she is trying to protect Ken and Momo. No child should ever see the cruelelties that we humans can do to each other.
Aria is her daughter lol. Her mother worked two jobs just to support them. She can’t really afford extra thing and buying a dress she had to get a loan which two took too long to pay off so the sold her daughter to a new family for the rest of the money.
What a beautiful episode!! The manga's take was alright but this adaptation really elevated it to another level especially with the fluid animation and directing in the flashbacks.
I swear I briefly skimmed that shit in the manga to avoid detailed spoilers but damn man, anime was even better. Was still confused that she actly commuted suicide
I only dislike two things of this episode as a manga reader 1. In the manga, she was dancing on a rooftop and she jumped off a building committing suicide. The anime didnt make that very clear as ive already seen people get shocked hearing she did when told. 2. Where aira says she wants their soul to be at a better place, the shot with the little girl and her hand reaching the sky was nice, but the manga did this beautiful double spread page that was unfortunately not done in the manga. Still a 10/11 episode tho
Japanese loan sharks are fuck…. You could take like a grand and be stuck with like 20k in debt within a month. They shady has hell. I bet they gave her those jobs taking a cut anyway. Her daughter is implied dead in the manga and she dance off the roof of a building. The clip of her leaping is her jumping off and is why the stars move so fast. She super sad bc it’s probably why is never sees her kid again even after death since her kid is dead too.
Im anime only like yall but apparently the manga showed an image of her and her daughter going onto the after life together so I think the daughter is sadly dead
3:06 I'm sorry but momo should of been dead already. 10:53 That backstory had actually fucked me up... And honestly I'm not even a emotional person but that had actually made me feel sick... 12:25 that whole scene was amazingly done but fuckin hell. 18:53 facts, yeah granny is funny and everything, but realistically she is kinda cold, granted she could just be bitter because even if she did wanted to help save someone, she couldn't since she don't have her powers atm.
I've NEVER in my life, cried more over an episode than on this one, soaked my fucking sheets in tears, nose running and everything, and i did read the manga, but that shit just hit too hard, even the second time
Where? The guy just looks like a normal man. Only thing they didn’t show in the anime, was acro silky actually jumping off of the building (I understand they had to censor it)
Fuck man this was supposed to be my sci-fi ghostbusting action romcom instead it bulldozed over all of my feelings. The animation was breathtaking and heartwrenching.
To clarify, she was an alive when aria first saw her, but she died after Their encounter. I don’t know because my memory is kind of hazy about the earlier chapters but I think they kind of left out some of the reason why she was in debt. I think it’s because of her husband doing her dirty or something like that or the husband died.
@ it’s kind of weird so she wasn’t able to see her until she got the golden ball. That was the only reason she was ever able to see her. she forgot how her real daughter looked like and assumed that aria was her daughter because in episode six she said she was waiting for her to finally be able to see her again which means that aria Couldn’t see ghost until she got the gold ball
Nah ITS already years after her death that her ghost meet Aira ... That ghost roamed years after her death and her daughter also dead at that time but the ghost didnt know yet ...
Easily the most anticipated episode of the series. Science Saru cooked yet again. This is the adaptation every manga reader dreams of.
I can only hope a certain snowball fight in another modern shounen gets the same level of care in its adaptation.
@@HalfMoonProphet They better, that sequence was the best part of that story
@@OutOfPocket-h9e Agreed wholeheartedly
@@HalfMoonProphetthank you for letting me relapse on my depression

At this point Turbo Granny is certified "I've seen it all", so it's almost expected for her to not react at all about any of this
This is the only reaction I’ve seen so far that caught that Acro Silky jumped to her death. It’s explicit in the manga, I think Japanese broadcast regulations made the anime adapt it as implicit. Beautifully done scene but seems a little hard for non-manga readers to follow.

You can also say that now, both of them can't be plagued by pain anymore
this episode made me so sad, but man the attention to detail was damn near unmatched, the mom literally did everything she could to make her daughter happy, just to have the yakuza take the daughter over an unpaid debt and I think the story is hinting at they didn't spare the daughter as well... truly tragic

Damn we went from retrieving balls to sadness
For clarification as to what happened to the daughter, as it isn't mentioned in the anime, it is heavily implied that she died as well at some point, as Aira's "let them go to a kinder world" speech ends with the daughter and mother together, looking towards the stars.
I thought I was ready, I thought I could handle Dandadan when it goes from bananas and ballz to backstories and bawling...
I was so so wrong 😭😭😭

Yeah when I was reading the manga and they pulled this shit out of nowhere I was stunlocked. The anime took it to another level
Guess what? This isn't even the saddest backstory DanDaDan has to offer.
Acro Silky' tragic past is just the first layer of DanDaDan' plethora of depressing backstories.
You telling me........there is more?? What is this, Madoka??
Dandadan has solidified itself as the peak of what shonen can be when combined with romcom. This episode alone has done it.
Blue Box is right there airing right now
12:30 You know the shit is peak when everyone just sit still, watch, and take it all in without saying anything. This is peak adaptation
Thank you Science Saru for this episode. I'll remain childless for the rest of my life.
That’s what you drew from this?
Dandadan and Re Zero this season really is making me feel all types of emotions.
When I tell people dandadan is a show that does everything I'm not joking.
Best episode so far.
It's amazing how this episode just told a story with music, but no voice acting, yet you knew exactly what was happening. The images convey so much emotion. It's a very creative way of storytelling
Dammit, this episode had me choked up nearly the whole runtime. First show in a LONG while to do that for me. 11/10.
Watching this episode after finishing Look Back recently got my eyes all dried up at this point
Can't believe this is starting with a man losing his balls.
They're so optimistic thinking the little girl is still alive or grown up and happy somewhere. The reality is she was probably trafficked, and if she is still alive, she's probably in some dingy room somewhere waiting on the next John and then her drug fix.
Seems implied she died. Especially more so in the manga with the imagery of mom and daughter together hand in hand to be at the end.
Here comes the emotional backstory!!! I was not ready…
The anime didn't show this explicitly, but since this was shown in the manga ill just let you know.
Daughter is 💀
They reunited in heaven (as a lil girl) the same time she crumbled away in the manga
This episode deserves an Oscar after that beautiful but tragic backstory. 🥺😭
It hits so much harder when a goofy show does something emotional like this as opposed to a depressing show doing it. Wonderful episode, what interested me in Dan Da Dan, is its craziness and comedy but I'm down for more deep and emotional storylines from this show.
idk if she personally took loan or if it was passed on to her by a family member or a partner
Well that would explain the lack of father figure in her memories, she prolly got hit with the Denji treatment
That sucks, and sorry to hear about your mom fam.
She did everything she could for her daughter.... that's what you call a mother. Sad that she went through all of it for the Yakuza to take that all away.
I wanted to see a fun balls adventure I didn't want to bawl my eyes out
I'm pretty sure the ending was her meeting her kid and moving on in the afterlife that's how I always took it
Okarune learned that headbutts from tanjiro
I think those were her "pimps" and she took a bigger cut then she was supposed to for the dress.
la llorona if the story was taken in japan
Except the llorona killed her children and hunts for others. The silk maiden is just a spirit looking for their lost child dancing sadly in the streets.
A not so fun fact, the design of Acrobatic Silky has the top of her head flat because she probably landed that way when she jumped to her death.
This might be one of the best episodes of 2024 no cap.
My head cannon is she borrowed money to go to performance art school but got pregnant and dropped out but still owned the loan sharks money
5:27 mans luigied her ass 😂😂

How I go from joking about this to balling tears. Top tier dark, sad episode. 😮💨
I feel like Turbo Granny has her own story as well. But I'm an idiot and there's no proof of it in the manga
you know its a good show when yall just shut up and watch, like 3 mins of silent watching taking it in :D
This gives you a new perspective of ghosts
BROS?!?! I wanted my balls back but NOT LIKE THIS
Man this episode was tuff to watch but great reaction as usual
They cooked the onions well. Fucking hell
I swear I briefly skimmed that shit in the manga to avoid detailed spoilers but damn man, anime was even better.
Was still confused that she actly commuted suicide
got my boy on the right 😂

Im anime only like yall but apparently the manga showed an image of her and her daughter going onto the after life together so I think the daughter is sadly dead
Was not expecting myself to cry from Dandadan lmao
Was waiting for this episode, they did it so much justice, evil eye back story gonna actually make me sob

If i survived their kidnapping, im moving tf outta japan real quick 😅

haha yay it’s a new ep of the turbo weenie anime
Nah Godzilla arc is the best mama😢😢
DAYUUMM SAD AF
cinema 😭😭
In the manga it shows that she slept with yakuza
Where? The guy just looks like a normal man. Only thing they didn’t show in the anime, was acro silky actually jumping off of the building (I understand they had to censor it)
Dam tragedy, u really hate to see it, at least there was some peace in the end
This was a sad ass episode
10/10.
it was probly organized crime ib the forn of her pimps...😢
Haha funny ball story.........😢
😢this ep man
Them was her pimps I think

When y'all watching arcane s2?? 😫😫
We are already just editing for TH-cam. It’s on Patreon at the moment.
This the least sad backstory of dandadan man😂 it's hard dandadan has pretty sad moments despite being a chill funny show
early as fuck
