    Here's the answer:
    1. None of our transport officials commute. If they want first hand experience, all board members of DOTR, LTO and LTFRB should be required to commute once a week.
    2. Our leaders have vested interested in car sales. They either have stocks in gas stations, dealerships or franchises selling car parts. Less cars = sale
    3. We, the public, don't call them out. We complain but do not name them. If we can post scammers online, lets post officials both elected and appointed din

We must look at the root cause - OVERPOPULATED AND OVERSATURATED Metro Manila. We should not let Metro Manila be like Jakarta - too full and sinking. We must decentralize Metro Manila as soon as we can. Establish economic hubs outside Metro Manila, relocate people and businesses. Distribute the economic centers and improve roads inside and outside NCR.

The commuting woes in Metro Manila can be blamed on CAR CENTRISM. We are investing too much on cars but barely on pedestrian and commuter-friendly infrastructure.

      may citybus at intercity bus
most of the time it's either tricycle or Jeep lang.. di naman lahat ng lugar din may Aircon bus

Same thoughts! Adding more PUVs and cars won’t solve the commuting woes. We need more massive public transportations which means more trains are needed in urban cities.

@@N3GarageI live and work in Tokyo for 10 years now. we all know how efficient the public transportation system here in Japan.
However, if only the Philippine government would think of permanent solutions to this problem rather than the temporary “solutions, then the commuters would always take the burden. Corruption is also one of the biggest reasons why the PHILIPPINES is hardly improving its infrastructures and transportation systems. Nakakalungkot lang!

@@odessa_japan in Japan you have many choices, If you have lots of yen, go taxi
or drive your own car, if you don't you have vast options, in Tokyo for example you have different railway lines, you can choose railway express lines, you pay more for less stops. you have natl railway to move between cities, you have shinkansen if you want to get there ASAP, they have minibuses in Shibuya, they have city step buses.
Here in the Philippines there is no middle ground. you have tricycle, Jeeps
and Buses are not always available
then you have LRT/MRT all of this are for "MASA".. then next is a big leap
you get TAXI or TNVS, anlaki agad ng talon
sa Japan if you are a minimum wage earner
you have the railways and the city buses
if you are a middle income salary man
you have the express lines or the deluxe buses
if you are a CEO and you want to get say for example
      traveling from Osaka to Kyoto
then you have 2 choices in railway
natl railway will take you 1 hour
shinkansen will take you there in 15 mins but you gotta pay alot more, but you have options that's the point
In Japan you have transport options for
minimum wage earners, middle class salary men.. there are deluxe buses
That's what i think Philippines lacks
all of the Public Transport system are too focused on catering only to the "masa"
had there been services focused on middle income class, wherein there are airconditioned minibuses that offer better services that charged more than your standard Jeep, then Philippines would see more of our middle class people use Public Transport more frequent.
instead of them getting HULUGAN cars.
and even if they buy HULUGAN cars
they might not be using them everyday
had we have railway stations every major block in NCR
      for every 1km distance.
just like in Japan.. 6 out of 10 Japanese own cars
but many don't use them everyday
kasi there are days that using the public transpo is faster
i have a friend in Japan may koche siya
ginagamit lang niya ung koche niya pag mag ggrocery
or may outing sila like camping or need magdala ng stuff.
and it's a Kei-Car 660cc lang makina tama lang pang city,
matipid pa sa gasolina, at less pollution. ewan ko bat ndi natin gayahin ung ganun

The very simple answer is there are just too many people in Metro Manila mainly bec businesses are congested at that part of PH.
If you take out some businesses, govt agencies and universities out of MM, this would solve a lot of issues.
Put some of the Ubelt schools in Laguna, Batangas, or in Central Luzon. Divide POEA and put one branch in North Luzon, one in South luzon, one in Cebu aand one in Davao. Put factories, BPOs, IT companies in different parts of PH and give competitive salaries.
    Congestion is the main problem.

    • @tonisalvatore1552

One of the main problem also is the minimum wage in Metro Manila, in province(s) wage is 400+, but in NCR is 610 pesos, so there's a difference in wage. I hope this minimum wage is apply nationwide to congested the metro manila.

Well moving out alot of businesses, universities and gov offices from Metro Manila may help, but you'll likely just moving the problem elsewhere, not outright problem but it will build up the issue again someday.
Issue here isn't just Metro Manila but Philippines as a whole. There is really a lack of proper urban planning and non-existent public transport system. Yes physically exist likes of buses and puvs and some system it exist, but it is so chaotic, no coordination, standards and only works at most basic system at most.
Metro Manila isn't the most biggest or densest metropolis in the world. That title holds by Tokyo I think. Yet they functions well and transportation isn't issue due to their smarter approach of urban planning and focus on public transport than car centric mentality. Tokyo is far from perfect but their city is perfectly functional despite the high population.
Metro Manila only serve by few Metro train lines currently, all in low capacity. Then still have issues in maintenance in the past and not having better transport facilities and features you expect in 21st century. Roads are plenty but poorly utilised, managed and designed. I'm not talking about potholes, but the actual road system. It doesn't help when majority of drivers don't even follow the road rules and the rules itself isn't all logical either.
We can't blame on the population only since many cities in the world works far better despite having higher and maybe even more diverse people. It is the management, system in place and the focus on mass transport. And all of these issues aren't isolated in Metro Manila but as a whole country.
Metro Cebu is congested and bad as well and that one is still far less congested and smaller than Metro Manila. So its not the dense issue. Even smaller minor cities can have similar issues on smaller scale, but the fact that still happens means it only get worse as the cities goes in provinces, and will experience Mini Manila problems

I think one way to reduce heavy traffics in Metro Manila ay kung mabawasan ang bilang ng tao dito. Not necessarily the people who live there, pero halos lahat kasi nandiyan ang trabaho kaya kahit mga nasa karatig rehiyon, kahit nga mula pa sa malalayong probinsya, eh diyan bumabiyahe. More roads will not improve the traffic we have, instead it'll only worsen.

    1. Too much private cars. Mahal na mahal ng pinoy ang mga kotse nila. Gusto nila naka aircon at may privacy. Sa sobrang dame sila ang nag cacause ng traffic tlga. Siguro maganda mas strict ownership ng kotse gaya ng sa Singapore;
    2. Sablay na train system. Kung titingnan mo sa mapa ang LRT/MRT network para ka lang nagpa taas baba, kaliwa't kanan. HIndi sya parang "web network" na pabilog at mraming naseserbisyuhang lugar. Dahil jan lahat ngkukumpulan sa Edsa or sa Taft lng. Andameng inner areas na hindi naseserbisyuhan.
    3. Innefficient Government. Hindi alam ng gobyerno kung papano mag design at implement ng maayos na route schemes. Pag nagpalit ng administrasyon iba nanaman ang plano. Disorganized. Disconnected ang plans. Di nakikinig sa hinaing ng mananakay or worst nagpapaimpluwensya sa mga maayayamang tao lalo kung mga private subdivisions nila ang matatamaan.

Compared sa other metropolitan areas sa ASEAN, maliit lang ang NCR pero most densely populated. So marami tao na nagsiksikan.

May kulang po sir yung mababa nah down payment sa pagbili ng sasakyan, societal pressure, at dapat ipaganda ng govt natin yung public transport these are the three main reasons.

Study the design of busses of other countries. Establish carpool lanes giving incentives to drivers who do carpooling. Government should have carpool programs wherein government employees can particioate together esoecially if their work is located in close vicinity to each other.. the goal is to lessen vehicles on the streets and parking lots both in public and govt. Study how carpooling is successful in other countries. Cyclists as hobby should be barred in places with heavy traffic Cycling enthusiasts should use areas of the city where there are no traffic same also with motorcycle enthusiasts.
No big trucks, delivery trucks should be allowed in bottle neck areas of the city.
