ignorant question over here. how do student find time to enroll in the activity ? i mean when i see all the maker lab, robot, music, sport ... this is still a very high level school, and they are surely spending most of the time working no ?

Gotta keep in mind that students aren't just focused on homework and classes 24/7, MIT students often find a way to unwind and delve deeply into fun activities to take their mind off things sometimes. If they were focused on just working most of the time, MIT wouldn't really be producing students of character that contribute to society no? They'd be producing practical human robots if that were the case.

MIT students are required to take four quarters (each quarter is half of a semeste) of P.E. classes which should be completed by the end of their sophomore year. P.E. classes usually take no more than 2 hours per week to commit to, usually meeting once or twice a week. That's less time than attending lectures which is usually 3 hours per week (1-3 lectures per week).
