Loved the air that I breathe 40 plus years ago as a kid and as soon as I heard creep I made the connection, so this is bliss. I could happily play it in loop all day
This is brilliant! I’m glad someone did this, it needed to be done. The sharing of the percussion all with foot pedals is great too. Nice break from seeing looping pedals everywhere now.
Here, let me fill in that one part for you: "Sheeeeeeeeeeeeee's running out ah-gehhhh^hennnn. Sheee's running out. She run, run, run, ruh-huhnnnnnnnn. RUNNNNNNNNNNNNnnnnnnnnnn........."
Yeah the problem is that that part of Creep uses very similar notes and vocal phrasing as the verses to The Air That I Breathe so it would have been kind of hard to make that work somehow. Plus i'm surprised they didn't throw in a nod to Carry that weight since in The Air That I Breathe from 2:30 on sounds really really really similar to it(like treading on thin ice similar)
@Lady Hitchhiker you have NO idea how deep your comment touched me... Made sense of what was happening in my very soul... Thank you from the Fiber of My Fabric...
That's so awesome , it's like Creep picked up the down beat of The Air That I Breathe ... Beautiful Demonstration to the players ! ... bravo Moon Loungers
I didn't expect to be so pleasantly surprised when I clicked in. This is one of the most amazing covers I've heard. Creating something this beautiful earns you some recognition and respect. I could go on and on, but I think you know it ROCKS.
This is so good. The themes couldn't be more different, and that where the interest lies for me. One is supremely satisified in love and the other is lost, awkward and broken. So good.
I was sitting in a dinner and air that breath came on and it struck me like lightning that these two songs belong together. Wow. Great work! Better than I could have possibly imagined!
@@walkinharmonyhomestead2888 well the lady who got sued by radiohead is the third. Not sure who the fourth is. Maybe the original composer did their own version. the person who wrote it - was John Hammond I think.
@@voidisyinyangvoidisyinyang885 I just found a video where the guy found more, but even he said he had to “go to the bottom of the barrel” to find some of them. Some have the same chord progression, but the time spent on each chord is different, giving the song a much different sound (I’m sure this happens a lot). TY
Those songs will always be part of my heart. Any time I hear them, my heart shrinks. Both singers make me feel every word they wrote like no others do, both with regard to "The air that I breathe" and to "Creep". Hats off for both of them
I stumbled on this while I was looking for something else, and I'm glad I clicked on it! What a great mash-up of these two classics with such similar chord progressions! I love it! Excellent . And great singing and playing also; thanks for doing this and posting it. What a gem.
This is why the Hollies won a legal settlement with Radiohead. Radiohead admitted that Air That I Breathe was unintentionally the an inspiration for Creep. They settled for a portion of the royalties and were also awarded given writing credits on Creep for Hammond and Hazlewood. Anyone who grew up in the 60s - 70s knew Air That I Breathe well because it got major radio airplay in the early 70s. That why so many people made the connection immediately when hearing Creep for the first time. You’d have to be a zombie not to catch the similarity. I always knew that the two could be seamlessly put together, but this is the first time I have heard anyone actually record a mashup. They did an excellent job bringing these two classic songs together. Great job guys! Now I don’t have to do it. I had often thought about doing a medley of these two songs, which is why I was searching for such a thing when I came across this. If no one else had done it, I was going to do it. I’m glad you guys did this because I seriously doubt my version could have been nearly as good as this is.
Has to be said that Lana Del Ray’s Get Free sounds more like Creep than Creep sounds like Air That I Breathe. Really just lifted the entire melody without trying at all to do something else with it before passing it off as original. I am really glad this mashup exists though, it satisfies something deep within me lol
@@benburndred2226 I agree. There are many songs that use the same chord progressions. How a court decides when they are IP and when they’re just progressions that have been used for thousands of years is kind of ridiculous.
Shit I never realised I’m a zombie but I must be because I never recognise these two as being similar until now despite liking both and playing both thousands of times LOL
When I go out to listen to acoustic live music, this is what I want to hear. Excellent musicianship, perfect harmonies, great songs, and DIFFERENT! Nice mix of two great songs and musically excellently executed. Chills.
3 minutes ago I was watching a movie and heard “all I need…” in the scene. I listened closer and thought “…is that creep?…” so i looked if anyone had made this comparison and found this. Very cool.
When Creep first came out, I would always launch into the Hollies as I sang along... and then when I found this mashup cover of yours a few years ago, I was so content that someone had done it. It's so great.
So funny…I just stumbled on this. But I had recently looked up to tabs for Creep…a week ago or so…then yesterday had looked up The Air That I Breathe. I must have subconsciously realized they were similar! This is a great mashup!
You guys are absolutely fabulous! I think I watched this 3 or 4 times! You guys are on point in timing and harmony! You mastered combining two of my favorite songs. Thank you! It's a beautiful flow.
As a mobile DJ, I saw the similarities between these two songs many years ago, and have been playing a live, mind-blowing mash-up for unsuspecting music fans at my gigs. Kudos to The Moon Loungers on an excellent job!
I’m not so much interested in the Radiohead/Hollies issue, as it was resolved rather openly and amicably (Radiohead said they grabbed the opening melody after someone said the lyrics were similar, and the Hollies appreciated them not screwing around over it, and they settled). But the medley of these two songs is such a great piece and I just wanted to say how much I appreciate hearing this and what you put into arranging and performing it. My grandma was such a huge part of my life, and one of her obsessions was the Everly Brothers, and I listened to their cover of this song more times than I can count growing up. Grandma was also my biggest fan and most ardent supporter growing up in the 80s and 90s, even gave me a place to stay and never minded and defended my character through all my goth and punk years. And she would let me play music for her if I found something she might like, and told me to turn it up loud, like Radiohead, and Collective Soul, and Nirvana, and Tori Amos, back when others in my family treated me like a freak, and she would listen and find the enjoyment and the understanding of what the artist most have been experiencing, whether or not she personally related. But she related to more than I knew at the time. The EB recordings didn’t quite catch the minor notes of the Hollies’ gorgeous opening chords, so it was years before I put together the similarities between the two songs. Hearing this tonight made me literally sob like baby, as Grandma passed barely over a year ago, and with the pandemic it’s been hard to process it, but this just hit so unexpectedly hard as the perfect medley of who my grandma was and who I am, and what she meant to me when I needed someone the most. I wish she could have heard this, she would have loved it. Thanks for making it. For me, it’s not about proving who wrote what, but it’s the bridge between the two that means more to me than you’ll ever know, and more than any chord progression can articulate. It’s a beautiful piece and you served both recordings well.
i don’t always see youtube reply notifs, but i saw this latest one. grandma’s birthday was yesterday and seeing these comments today warms my heart! thanks, fellow humans! ♥️
