@@Marie-ly3kj -- I never understood why that song Grandma's Hands was not a huge hit. Such a beautiful, loving, soulful, deeply respectful tribute. I first heard it sung on stage by a young performer in Detroit many, many years ago and found it absolutely captivating, as though reminiscing for us all who had a beloved wise unforgettable grandma from whom we learned so much.
My mom loved the Lord with all her heart and died early at 51. As a small child I would see her in the kitchen doing dishes and she would be singing this old song. My how I miss her tonight. Hug your living loved ones and tell them how much you love them because when the Lord takes them home it will change you forever. I was born & raised in Detroit, Michigan. When I was 13 years of age, after hearing Marvin Gaye's music I had to meet him! (I had every album he ever made!) I did not know what a “Concert” was, but I snuck out the house, went to Cobo Hall, and somehow made it to the front row! Marvin held my hand and sang a part of "Distant Lover" to me. I personally know one of his former band members & co-writers. 99.9% of the time I will not finish listening to anyone attempting to sing Marvin's music. Teddy Swims is an exception, and I "approve" of him singing Marvin Gaye's music : ) Allow me to respectfully, say "This White boy can sang!" Teddy has soul! Wow. At 79, I've never heard a satisfactory cover of What's Going On, but this guy hits it out the park. Love his clear enunciation and not attempting to imitate Marvin Gaye. Teddy Swims makes the song his own, in a way I think Marvin would have loved if only he had lived to hear it.
Brought tears to my eyes listening to this and how this song is still so relevant today. You did good Teddy and thanks for the donations to those worth while causes.
Vana mcclary, Marvin was way before his time as far as his songs are concerned. They would be really relevant today. I went to one of his concerts the month before he was killed. Sexual Healing was his hit at the time. He changed clothes a couple of times during the concert. Sexual Healing was the last song he sung. He came out in just silk pajama bottoms and a silk robe. A lady I was with wasn’t even 5’ tall. She went right up to the stage, Marvin reached down, kissed her hand, and she jumped 5’ in the air with that kiss. Wonderful me,Oreos.
There are no words for how this dude can just sing everything so brilliantly, talented, so many people he touches with his songs and totally mind blowing. I would love to know more about his background, that voice, that emotion, doesn't just come from being able to sing.

It’s hard to put into words just how moving this song is and how deeply it resonates all these years later. Gaye was a musical genus and somehow Teddy has managed to capture his soulfulness and love of mankind in a way that only Teddy can. In the midst of one of our nation’s darkest hours, Teddy and the boys have once again shown us how powerful words and music can be. And in the hands of a gifted singer, those words and music can help heal the soul and open the heart. Thank you, Teddy. You raise the bar time and time again. Sending much love and admiration. And yes, as a white, middle-aged man of privilege I say and will always say, all black lives matter. They have always mattered. It’s high time we recognize it. Peace and love to all

The soulful sound of Teddy shows, transcending the lyrics, proving that music does come from the heart hope all races, and that the cities would have peace. Thanks for the song, Teddy.
His Father killed him. One of my favourite albums of all time is Diana & Marvin, Motown. The fabulous Diana Ross and her gentle vocals allied to Marvin's creamy vocals. A sensational album, get it if you can xxxxx
my favorite cover of this song... (and that's saying a LOT cuz i've been hearing covers since it was originally released by Marvin)... beautiful, Teddy...
What a fabulous talent and a wonderfully expressive tune of both current and past times. This powerful song has and always will represent a MUCH needed shift in the society of the world, a change I hope we all see happen sooner rather than later. All lives do not matter, until black lives matter. ✊🏿✊🏾✊🏽✊🏼✊🏻
Why are you surprised? People usually come here for the music. Now they are met with music + politics. Not everybody has to agree all the time and politics is a subject seldom agreed on by all, but since it is a clear part of this upload, it was voted on, just as the music itself was. That`s it.
Teddy, please don't underestimate the difference you have made in other's lives; you have given me the hope to stay alive. Thank you for your music and inspiration my brother. You are amazing, and you inspire me to stay alive. Thanks man, I love you my friend.
Continue to stand and trust in the strength of God within. Rest in his hole word. Find you a Bible believing church and study the Bible with others. Also call suicide help group. You are here on earth for a purpose. God blessing.
At the time I listened to this song Teddy, the NAACP on the television was having an 8min. 46 sec. of silence, to honor George Floyd and his memorial service today happening in Minneapolis today. To say the least, it gave me chills. Absolutely beautiful song, and perfect timing. Thank you for sharing. Love and peace
Real music with purpose, meaning and relevance and timeless, Marvin Gaye was a genius. And, when you hear Teddy give respect to this song it's a testament to the greatness of Marvin and the deep talent of Teddy....not an easy song to pull off.
hey teddy, during the pandemic one of my best friends took his own life.... you cover of this song really helped me to get through it. your voice always brings tears to my eyes. thank you. all love ♥️
I am deeply sorry for the loss of a close friend. Sadly this pandemic has cost people their jobs, lives and marriages. I pray to GOD we can get out of this sooner than later for all of our sakes.
My husbands best friend took his life too...this has been so exceptionally hard on so many with mental health issues. So very sad. My heart goes out to you and your friends close loved ones. I know that heartbreak. May you find peace and blessings!
No better song to choose for times like these. What really is going on? Why do I have to raise my kids in times like these? The silver lining in it... God chose me to teach them how to love everyone, and not only love them, but fight for them.
Marvin Gaye one of the very best singer/songwriters to ever have a microphone. How many musicians can say that there music is still relevant and has the same meaning as it did almost 50 yrs ago. Music that moves your soul and is peace in your troubled mind.
Why is this man not on everyone’s lips? I ❤Marvin Gay & this cover is so beautiful. Teddy Swims is an amazing vocalist. I love all his music. He is the real deal! ❤❤❤
My mantra for times like these: UNITY IS WHERE PROGRESS BEGINS. Teddy, sir, you're doing it right. Beautiful cover of an all too relevant song for the problems we face as a society today. Our darker skinned brothers and sisters deserve a world where they can feel safe. Our children deserve a better, kinder world to grow up in. And that's only ever going to happen if we can all work together to bring about positive change in our communities. I'll be heading to my second peaceful protest tonight. The first one ended in tear gas and rubber bullets. Multiple people getting injured, tears, and screams that echoed throughout the night. The people of my community continued to stand together through multiple waves of gas and rubber bullets. Singing songs and chanting in unity. Peaceful as could be. The very next night, we heard all about another protest that happened just a couple of towns over in Fayetteville, AR. NO GAS. NO RUBBER BULLETS. THE POLICE TOOK A KNEE WITH THE PEOPLE AND RAISED A FIST WHILE CHANTING "BLACK LIVES MATTER" AS ONE COMMUNITY. THAT is unity. And THAT is how we're going to see progress made! Stay safe out there and much love. - Kaleb
I am crying like a baby right now. My heart is heavy with the world events and yesterday they hit the most innocent of my family...the youngest grandchild from my only child. She is five and autistic. A face of an angle, she is quick to say I love you and give big hugs but now she is in quarantine because she had to go to school. Please pray for her. I hope we can come together better and better once we understand that we are all one people and we are all responsible for each other. There is no division. There is no line and when it is seen that way by all of us we can do anything....absolutely anything.
Mother, mother There's too many of you crying Brother, brother, brother There's far too many of you dying You know we've got to find a way To bring some lovin' here today - Ya Father, father We don't need to escalate You see, war is not the answer For only love can conquer hate You know we've got to find a way To bring some lovin' here today Picket lines and picket signs Don't punish me with brutality Talk to me, so you can see Oh, what's going on What's going on Yeah, what's going on Ah, what's going on In the mean time Right on, baby Right on Right on Mother, mother, everybody thinks we're wrong Oh, but who are they to judge us Simply because our hair is long Oh, you know we've got to find a way To bring some understanding here today Oh Picket lines and picket signs Don't punish me with brutality Talk to me So you can see What's going on Yeah, what's going on Tell me what's going on I'll tell you what's going on - Uh Right on baby Right on baby

I so agree...... we’ll done Teddy. Love, compassion and heart just flows from Teddy. Grateful for all you give to the world! Some days are dark and heavy then I reach for Teddy. He is always there to lift up my soul in song. Took care of my mom with Alzheimer’s until she crossed over. Now I take care of My dad with dementia. He just turned 89. Teddy’s music sets me right....he lifts me up. I can dance across the kitchen, sing into my dads room and realize how much love is around me. Teddys music gives me the strength to keep going. I love my dad, just sometimes are rougher than others. Teddy makes it real and full. Btw my 89 year old dad loves Teddy too! Thank you soooo much Teddy!!

Wow. Amazing. AMAZING VOICE!!!!!!!! I don’t care about fancy gowns or sexiness. To me, this guy is a singer and I could listen to him all day!!!
His Father killed him.
One of my favourite albums of all time is Diana & Marvin, Motown.
The fabulous Diana Ross and her gentle vocals allied to Marvin's creamy vocals.
A sensational album, get it if you can xxxxx
Such a soulful singer💙
my favorite cover of this song... (and that's saying a LOT cuz i've been hearing covers since it was originally released by Marvin)... beautiful, Teddy...
Oh Teddy Bear,, Tender Tender Teddy Bear...xoxo
Wine and you is all a woman needs to slow her roll..

This has to be arguably one of the best versions of this song OF ALL TIME
Totally agree
It’s high on the list. This is awesome and very respectful cover!
Exquisite - Marvin will be applauding
What a fabulous talent and a wonderfully expressive tune of both current and past times.
This powerful song has and always will represent a MUCH needed shift in the society of the world, a change I hope we all see happen sooner rather than later.
All lives do not matter, until black lives matter.

Yo who had the audacity to dislike this man work of art
AMEN
someone who know no better
Why are you surprised? People usually come here for the music. Now they are met with music + politics. Not everybody has to agree all the time and politics is a subject seldom agreed on by all, but since it is a clear part of this upload, it was voted on, just as the music itself was. That`s it.
He's so gifted. MELTS MY ❤.Love him...❤❤❤❤
I'm here in 2024 and I aint leaving!!🥰😍❤❤❤
This song is back in the day and to hear it and what’s going on in today world

Hugs from one who truly understands. There's ALWAYS a Sunrise after the darkest Night. I love being here to watch it.
Continue to stand and trust in the strength of God within. Rest in his hole word. Find you a Bible believing church and study the Bible with others. Also call suicide help group.
You are here on earth for a purpose. God blessing.
Glad you are to appreciate this deep music with us.
Love to you. You are not alone
I used to listen to Teddy's covers since the pandemic on repeat. I'm so glad he hit the big time !
The way you got a grown black man all in his feelings is unforgivable Teddy... Completely unforgivable 😞
Every song is a masterpiece from this voice! Well done !
Real music with purpose, meaning and relevance and timeless, Marvin Gaye was a genius. And, when you hear Teddy give respect to this song it's a testament to the greatness of Marvin and the deep talent of Teddy....not an easy song to pull off.
This guy is so refreshing, so soulful, that voice ol my GOD, this is what i call REPRESENTING! Speechless, wow?
Дякую за Музику, вона рятує мене ментально, в моїй країні страшна війна, слухаєш, і ніби летиш на хмарах, дякую!!!!
согласен актуальная щас песня, хотя была написана про Вьетнамскую войну
I’ve never heard any singer sing with such feeling as Teddy Swims. He sings the same songs over and over with such feeling. He is amazing. Love him.
hey teddy,
during the pandemic one of my best friends took his own life.... you cover of this song really helped me to get through it. your voice always brings tears to my eyes. thank you. all love ♥️
Sending love to you ☺️
Prayers. Stay strong. Your pain is shared. It's a club no one wants to belong to but we do. We keep the love and memory alive best we can.
I am deeply sorry for the loss of a close friend. Sadly this pandemic has cost people their jobs, lives and marriages. I pray to GOD we can get out of this sooner than later for all of our sakes.
🙏🏾😢
My husbands best friend took his life too...this has been so exceptionally hard on so many with mental health issues. So very sad. My heart goes out to you and your friends close loved ones. I know that heartbreak. May you find peace and blessings!
No better song to choose for times like these. What really is going on? Why do I have to raise my kids in times like these? The silver lining in it... God chose me to teach them how to love everyone, and not only love them, but fight for them.
😢😢😢😢 they are tears if joy, memories of Marin, the era … amazing❤️✌️🙏
Perfect timing for this song. ✌🏻 & ❤️ is what we all need.
Right song at the right time sung by the right guy...ty teddy 🙌❤️✌️
There's nothing like the originals....but, this guy is complimentary of what I heard in my teens.
Thank you ❤.
I love this song, and this cover was beautiful to hear in times like these.
Such a powerful song to sing under the current circumstances in USA and around the world
Need to have the song playing throughout the world!!
🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Such a creative soul. He take you right back to the greats
Marvin Gaye one of the very best singer/songwriters to ever have a microphone. How many musicians can say that there music is still relevant and has the same meaning as it did almost 50 yrs ago. Music that moves your soul and is peace in your troubled mind.
This style of singing fits Teddy's voice so well
Why is this man not on everyone’s lips? I ❤Marvin Gay & this cover is so beautiful. Teddy Swims is an amazing vocalist. I love all his music. He is the real deal! ❤❤❤
This man has a voice god given testament
In light of “what IS going on”, this song is perfect right now! Well done as always Teddy!
Marvin is gotta be smiling in heaven, this makes my heart smile.
I love that Teddy brings back these older tunes and makes them new again. He can sing any song and make it shine.
- Kaleb
I really love the sincere and unique soul of your voice!! You are one of my favorite artists!!! Much love to you❤!!!
God bless your baby.
Mother, mother
There's too many of you crying
Brother, brother, brother
There's far too many of you dying
You know we've got to find a way
To bring some lovin' here today - Ya
Father, father
We don't need to escalate
You see, war is not the answer
For only love can conquer hate
You know we've got to find a way
To bring some lovin' here today
Picket lines and picket signs
Don't punish me with brutality
Talk to me, so you can see
Oh, what's going on
What's going on
Yeah, what's going on
Ah, what's going on
In the mean time
Right on, baby
Right on
Right on
Mother, mother, everybody thinks we're wrong
Oh, but who are they to judge us
Simply because our hair is long
Oh, you know we've got to find a way
To bring some understanding here today
Oh
Picket lines and picket signs
Don't punish me with brutality
Talk to me
So you can see
What's going on
Yeah, what's going on
Tell me what's going on
I'll tell you what's going on - Uh
Right on baby
Right on baby
Thank you my friend.
Thank you buddy
Thanks
Oh Teddy,
Where have you been all my life? You are magnificently musical with such soul. Good rendition of my favorite Marvin Gaye whom I saw in person twice. Thank you Teddy. 💓
Can listen to the guy over & over!! He's got soul in his music. Makes every song his own
Got to be the best rendition of this I've heard. Came across this guys music by mistake. What amazing talent he has. All great stuff.
Not a mistake.
Music is the universal language 🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Love & Peace
Clicked the link, hit the like button, and went on to justify so doing as I listened.
In computing this is called speculative execution. Predict what you're going to do anyway and just go ahead and do it. Then sit around and enjoy the ride when you realize you were right (again).
Blew me away! Far far away..
@@jcims makes perfect sense!
You make my heart and soul feel so happy when I listen to your music. Incredible l!!!! You're going places Teddy saddle up we're here for the ride. Much love ❤️❤️❤️
It’s hard to do a Marvin cover any justice, but you smashed this. Absolutely beautiful, thank you for bringing this song to a new generation and new audience 🖤✨🤍
He did it nice and smooth! I love it!!
"What IS GOING ON"
His voice and being speaks straight into my heart and soul 🔥🙌🔥
He just took Marvin to a whole new level
The abundance of the heart flows out of the mouth. This man's heart is pure loving and compassionate. I can relate these this song with what is going on in this world today and just tear up.Well done Teddy!🙏
I love 💜 it..
