Having been serving the Muslim community Alḥamdulillāh in the last few years, I've realised that (حسن الكلام) eloquent speeches and conventions alone isn't sufficient bcos there's no real sacrifice taking place. Whereas sacrifice leads to value and appreciation. If you look into the lives of the companions (e.g حياة الصحابة) or the scholars of the previous Ummah (e.g سير أعلام النبلاء), we find short quotes here & there but the vast majority of the pages are filled with sacrifices of these giants not transcripts of long discourses.
It's heart breaking to see in major cities wherein Masjid programs take place and yet only a handful of ppl turn up. Why? Because there's an element of sacrifice that's beyond the screen of a mobile phone. Whereas if a celebrity Shaykh makes a guest appearance, then you'll see people flock in droves and taking pictures for the sake of vanity and Allāh knows best. In the midst of all this, leaving the poor Imām feeling useless about himself when he tires himself organising the regular Masjid workshops etc.
Bottom line is that we have to be able to sacrifice our comforts to internalise our Deen. We ask the Almighty for Tawfeeq

Being grateful to Allah by appreciating His bounties should always be done in open & secret in the right time, right place even on a platform.
The challenge for me is how good am I in showing off to Allah only, especially in secret!
However, if I break any speeding laws or break a law that should not be excused but the wrong accepted, admitted and learnt from.
Having large number of views is not sufficient to dilute any genuine concern.

May Allah reward you and the shaykh for clarifying his pov, and from his perspective, I can see the value and his effort may Allah reward him.
However, I think the critiscim has some very valid and serious points. First is ostentation and frivolity of it, its not about just purchasing the car but how people felt about a religous looking person showing off his material wealth (im not saying that was your intention but given the nature of social media, thats what people would assume and feel).
Also as a example i think Supercars are notoriously bad high-risk investments; Pay a lot for a car that can depreciate very quickly, and if it's a limited edition, you're essentially making a high-risk investment.
Moreover, I think given the reality of life today, is it wise PR move? Even though overall wealth of human beings has increased significantly, wealth gap between the rich and poor across the world is only increasing, and the divide is at a level never witnessed before. Given this context and given the nature of the social media it may come across as tone deaf as a dawah tool. Perhaps if you were showing a large house and importance of ownership it would have been better.
On the ethical side, i dont think horse and car are good comparison? One is a natural creation of Allah the other is a man made pollutant that in people's mind, represents excess, hubris, inequality in todays context. In that sense is it a wise example for pr?
Wealth is important, and many Muslims were wealthy. But the societies they were part of, were not societies led by a materlistic capitalist consumer world order. One in which, mans relationship to worldy possessions is the cause of unprecedented exploitation and destruction of the earth, species extinction at a rate not heard of before in human history, and break down of society.
shaykh this is not a critiscim of you but how I think people could potentially see such social media posts as showing off , what to them is wasteful excess.

    • @Mohammed-bz8lt
      @Mohammed-bz8lt 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

Another potential criticism in my mind personally is that it's not a good method of dawah. It's not just a display of wealth it's also teaching Muslims, perhaps, that you can be a perfectly good muslim while chasing the same perceived luxury brands and items. The same things created by non muslims to satisfy their urges Muslims should pursue uncritically . Ultimately that there's no contradiction between being a good muslim and taking part in the same hyper consumer culture as as the rest of the world.
Given the reality of life today and the challenges people will face, should we be teaching them to aim for useless luxury items made by the disbelievers. Given the impact its having on the world shouldn't we be teaching people the truth that they can and will be content with far less than their current unprecedented level of wasteful consumption. Lastly excess wealth can be a huge test for people, and given its status in the current culture is it wise to pr move?
Consider how despite the riches of the west and freedom from hunger, we are the most wasteful people on the earth statistically when it comes to food, we waste water at a ridiculous level, sad given that there are huge water shortages expected in the coming decades that will affects millions. Consider on average westerners consumer almost sake amount of energy in a month, that people in poorer countries consume in a year or 2! The point is the relationship to wealth, its acquisition, and its use, is horrible, irresponsible and destructive both physically and spiritually in the west.
Do we want to promote blind conformity to the same relationship to wealth. Consider the great leaders and wealthy people from the islamic civilization, what we celebrate of them is the intellectual works they commissioned, the centres of education, the masjid they built. The wealth spent on good, and things that last. Very different from the modern companies churning out lifeless products that become outdated within a year.

We live in a world that brothers and sisters glorify and take inspiration from those that earn the haram income like rappers and drugdealers and riba based property owners and maybe even go to the extents to say, "but he prays bro" yet see an imam in a 911 and start accusing him of not being considerate 😂.
