    Thank you for another great video. Your table runner and placemats are beautiful! Where do you get your fabrics?

    • @TheSewingRoomChannel
      @TheSewingRoomChannel  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Ann. I live in a very small town, and there are very few places close by for me to purchase fabric. When I get to a large city I shop at a large chain fabric and craft store. I also purchase fabric from a local discount store. My favorite is the internet because there is a large variety of fabrics to select from. Happy sewing..

    What kind of batting do you use? It doesn't seem to be very thick. Is there a special kind of batting for table runners and placemats?

  • @meemahmccheese2405
    @meemahmccheese2405 ปีที่แล้ว

    You said you were going to tell us "later'about all of the overhang fabric. I missed the explanation. Obviously, it is so all of the surface is covered, but what else?

    • @TheSewingRoomChannel
      @TheSewingRoomChannel  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Meema. After stitching all the strips on - place a ruler on the edge of the fabric on the underside and use a rotary cutter to trim the jellyroll strips even with the fabric on the underside. Go to 09:38 in the tutorial to view this step. Then follow the remaining steps to finish the project. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching💗and happy holidays😍

    Do you use batting between your layers for rubber and placemat?

    • @TheSewingRoomChannel
      @TheSewingRoomChannel  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Maureen. In this demonstration I did not use batting, but you can. I am not sure what you mean by "rubber." I have never used rubber in my sewing projects. Happy sewing.

    • @TheSewingRoomChannel

      Hi Rena. Yes you can make it as long as you like. Just cut the bottom fabric the length you want, and continue adding jelly roll strips. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing. 😍

  • @sandypayne3187
    @sandypayne3187 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great video! Because the batting is the same size as the material, does the batting create bulking around the edges after the front and back have been turned to the right side? I have seen some videos which instruct that the batting be cut 1/2" smaller. I hope this makes sense to you.

    • @TheSewingRoomChannel
      @TheSewingRoomChannel  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Sandy. Good question. The batting can cause the edges to be thick. When you use batting in this type of table runner make sure you either trim the batting shorter or pin the edges flat and top stitch close to the edges. Happy sewing.

    Why do you sew to a rectangle? Is this because of the 45 degree angle? I have never made a table runner or placemat.

    • @TheSewingRoomChannel
      @TheSewingRoomChannel  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Melissa. Sewing the strips on the table runner rectangle on a 45 degree angle just gives it a different look/design. You can sew the strips on a straight line side to side instead of corner to corner (45 degree). Happy sewing.
